I purchased a book through iTunes and it downloaded. I synced with my iPad. It shows the book is downloading but that has been going on for two hours and i still can't open the book.

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that book, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :
and then the 'Report a Problem' link on its line :
and select 'inadvertently purchased' as the problem and fill in the details (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).

I can not open the book samples acquired in the iBooks Store on my MacBook Pro with the latest version of Mavericks, I can only open these samples on my ipad or iphone.

Hold both power on and home button together and ignore the red slider until you see the apple logo. Then let go of both buttons and wait for the phone to reset itself.

Do you have enough free space on your iPad for it to run efficiently? With iOS 8 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free. For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
Try quitting all apps and then reset the iPad. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Do this for all apps that appear there. Then reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

If you can't find it in there then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

Okay... try this...
Go to Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Apple ID and sign out of your account. Then sign back in with your Apple ID. Try downloading again.
If that doesn't work, go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. When done, turn your iPad off (hold the Sleep button down for several seconds. When the red slider appears, switch it off. Wait a few seconds and then press and hold the Sleep button for 1-2 seconds and let go). After the reboot you will need to reconnect your Wi-Fi, log back in to App Store, iBook Store, and iTunes. Try downloading content again.

I need help on how to open my book I just purchased so that I can read it. I am new to the apple family and have just gotten the updated phone a month ago. I purchased on Itunes the book and can see the book but it will not open for me on my phone or my mac book. I found out that I cannot open the book on my mac so I just would like to know how to open the book on the iphone. It is telling me to purchase it again? I all ready spent 14 dollars on the book and would just like to read it now. Please tell me what the steps are, I would greatly appreciate it.

Have you downloaded or synced the (free) iBooks app to your iPhone ? The iBooks app is the only way that you can currently read Apple bought e-books. If you have got the iBooks app then you can either sync the book from your computer to your iPhone via the device's Books tab in iTunes (which you do in a similar way to how you sync music, apps, films etc to the phone). Or you can just download the book directly into the iBooks app on your iPhone (there is help on re-downloading here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). There is also some info on the iBooks app in the iPhone manual which you can download from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/iphone/

Can seem to open the book i downloaded

I have paied downloaded a book to read not an audiobook. Its in my books section in I tunes. I can open it though. I dont know what to do to acsess the contents of the book! ????
Anyone what to do, or what ive done wrong?

You should download and install iBooks first and then buy books from the iBooks Store. You worked backwards. Where did you but the book? Or where did you download it from?

I attempted to open books I had purchased previously and got the same message. I've restarted my iPad twice now with no change in results.

Can't get the book to download?

I am trying to download a book from iBooks. I have found the book and have purchased it, but the download processes, but will not finish the download. It has been processing for 24 hours. I can't delete it or stop it in any way.

I can not open the microsim card slot and my ipad is brand new!

When i try to opne the microsim card slot to introduce the sim card nothing happpens. Can somebody tell where and how I introduce the microsim card in my ipad?

The trick is pushing the SIM eject tool in a 45 degree angle as was also the case with the iPad 2, as opposed to the iPad 1 (and all iPhones). Pushing it in a 90 degree angle won't open the tray, unlike in the listed models.

Books downloaded from iTunes are not optimized for the Mac OS X, but for iOS devices such as iPhones, iPads, and the iPod touch.
In other words, you cannot open an iBook and read it on your Mac.
