I can't paste between AI and PS. When I paste from one Illustrator document and another it works fine but when I paste from AI to PS I get a blank box of the right size but no content. I've done this 100s of times but today it does not work. Also PS to PS works, just not Illustrator to Photoshop. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm stumped. After updating to 10.5.7 I am unable to cut/paste between xterm and Text Editor or any other Aqua-based app (email, browser, etc...). I can cut/paste between Aqua apps. And I can cut/paste between X11 apps, but X11 <-> Aqua just does not work. Commands pbpaste and pbcopy work great and are a temp fix, but I cannot work this way much longer. Going back to Linux is looking more and more attractive.

Put the image on a server and use the html code
Create another user account and see if X11 behaves normally in the new account. If it does, you know the problem must then reside in your own configuration settings.

Yes, the MBP will accommodate USB2 peripherals in the USB3 ports, but the transfer rate will be at USB2 speeds.

Absolutely. Just change the sim card and the APN details in the settings. You can do this either manually if you know them or just sync with iTunes after changing the sim and the details will sync. Once you have done it once for each network the device seems to remember the details.

Can't copy between Classic and OS X

Hi,
i carbon copied a OS 10.4 installation to a new disk, then copied an os 9 folder to that same disk in the root directory. Now i get an error message that i can't copy between classic and os x, an error message that keeps on appearing.
Both the os x.4 and the classic version worked before on that same mac, but on different disks... any chance why this won't work anymore??

How many disks were involved in copying OS 10.4 to a new disk, please? It can work but it's not reliable to clone from the boot volume, so you should really do that only with a third disk to boot from…

Copy&paste between textedit and javachat

I'm running a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz intel OSX 10.5.6. I moderate a java chat room and keep broadcasts and IP#'s in text edit and so copy and paste between the two. But lately I'm running into a loss of this ability. I can copy and paste within textedit or within the java chat, but not between them. When it first began happening a reboot was enough to bring that function back, but now I'm having to run onyx to repair permissions etc. to get it right again. How do i fix this? When the room's busy, i really need that function. I don't know if this is related, but got this message after the last permission repair...

Can't switch between fill and outline.

Here's the problem: I'm on an iMac, new, trying to use illustrator CS5. after using CS3 for a few years. In CS5, if I draw a shape, flat, in the illustration, then try to give it an outline, or change the outline, or do anything with the outline, I can't. If I click on the Shape tools in the toolbox and draw out an oval, for example, I can switch between outline and fill without any problems. Select shape, go to toolbox, select curved arrow for switching from one to the other. That's it. But if I draw a freehand shape, then try it, i can't do it. THIS IS A BIG CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE APP. GET IT? What is the problem? If it's something I have done, fine, tell me and I'll fix it. I tried calling Adobe support in Bangalore, and it took 30 minutes just to get the problem thoroughly appreciated by the techies. They just couldn't get the idea for half an hour! I had to go over it 4 or 5 times. And they couldn't come up with an answer. they were no help at all. I'm hoping the forum will yield better results. This is pathetic, guys. Your 90-day tech support is a worthless piece of crap, guys. The only tech support we have is this catch-as-catch-can forum. I've been using Illustrator since 1987, (illustrator 88) believe it or not, it's true. And I've always been able to get tech support to cure the ills. Not any more. Is that the way Adobe plans to offer tech support? if there were a way to contact Adobe Tech Support by going around Adobe Bangalore, i would use it. But, alas, I am stuck with this.

I had later abandoned the gradient mesh by using the option key to delete mesh lines, but that didn't take the shape all the way back to its original flat state. So it wasn't a plain drawn shape any more. So how do I release the gradient mesh to get back to a flat shape? I'm also having trouble keeping the shapes in RGB or CMYK mode-they keep defaulting back to greyscale. Could that also be a symptom of using gradient mesh? Note: I'm using gradient mesh for the very first time now; I've never used it before. It seems to leave a lot of unexpected baggage behind. I would send a screen shot, but if I start up Grab or Voila, all the AI pallets go away, and that's half the information. So how do I control gradient mesh?

There are several ways i can think of
1. Alt click on the cancel button and the Ctrl+Z
2. Hit the Restore All button then Crtl+Z
3. If you have the advanced options showing you could use Show Backdrop and then toggle the Show Image

I'm seeing the alert, but the logged statement is empty. Anyone know how to communicate between the two?

I tried a few ways but the only way I could do it properly was pretty involved:
1) Use Socket.io to communicate between generator and extension
2) When you want to raise an "event" from JSX, update generator settings, use a unique id for your event
3) Parse the event in generator
4) Emit the event from generator to extension.

Can't switch between HDMI and VGA displays

I have a new H430, with hdmi and vga ports. My HP zr2240w monitor permits switching between AVG and HDMI displays, which I would like to do. But when I plug in both cables (HDMI and VGA) only VGA will work. If I switch to HDMI or make it the default display, the screen freezes at the desktop background: no mouse, no taskbar etc. Is is possible that the D430 video card will not support switching between displays (on a single monitor)

Can't copy and paste between Photoshop and Dreamweaver

The recommended way to import assets from a Photoshop PSD files since Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 is to use the Extract panel.
In older versions of Photoshop and Dreamweaver (CS3 and above), you can copy a selection or layer from a PSD in Photoshop directly into Dreamweaver (you need both Photoshop and Dreamweaver installed on the same computer). This launches the Image Preview dialog box for you to optimize and save an image ready for the Web.
If you can't copy from Photoshop into Dreamweaver, make sure that the Export Clipboard check box is selected in the Photoshop General Preferences panel.

It sounds like you need to trash your prefs. See Replace Your Preferences
And it shouldn't throw that message, but also check to be sure that Paste Remembers Layers isn't checked in the Layers panel flyout menu or you'll never get anything to paste from one layer to another.

ITunes can't distinguish between movies and TV shows

Hi,
How old is iTunes now? How many updates have we been fed with all kinds of new 'features' that are either not that useful or already duplicate functions? Why can iTunes STILL not catalog files correctly?
I have movies and TV shows all mixed together, some are duplicated and some are just named 'comedy' or some other useless title. I got so fed up with it I spent a rainy day painstakingly renaming and sorting all these files. This was followed by the inevitable long drawn out and slow process of resynching Apple TV, resynching iPhones and basically playing every file labelled 'untitled' or 'unknown' and then identifying and renaming it.
So I was well-pleased when the latest version of iTunes decided it didn't like my new filing system and has messed it all up again. I now have duplicate files, files incorrectly filed, broken links and right now over 400 'missing' files according to iTunes.
They're not 'missing'. They're on the same hard drive in the same folders and in the same place they've always been. They've not been renamed, reordered or in anyway changed, yet the wonderful iTunes has decreed things ain't what they should be and changed it all for me.
I'm not happy. By all means change my files, but not to create the mess you've now left me to sort out.
What is it with Apple these days? why can't they just leave something that works to function properly. I can find my own 'album cover art', I don't need iTunes to paste the wrong art on the wrong album and mix up all my genres, shows and movies.
If you want to help, fix that mother of a problem before making it look pretty.

It is possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."
If that does not fix it for you, you can "deauthorize all" your computers. This will solve your problem, but you may only do this once per year.
Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.
