I can't play any type of video online on my Macbook, not even youtube!

Heyy guys, I was watching youtube videos fine last night and now all of a sudden it is just a black rectangle that shows up. I read there was an issue with this about two years ago but now its october 2012 and I can not seem to find anyone with this problem. So after reading a bit I checked other websites. Lifetime.com videos do not work, ebumesworld.com does not work, albinoblacksheep.com does not work. See the problem?? Is anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?! The only thing that works is Netflix which is a streaming and not uploaded videos like youtube. I checked my phone and youtube works fine on my iphone 4....help!

In addition to Flash, you might need some other plugins. Microsoft videos are mostly in Silverlight, and you'll want Flip4Mac to play WMVs. Perian contains codecs for pretty much every video online.

Any body seen this type of problem after the update??
After upgrading to iTunes 7.4.3.1 I can't play any music on my PC. iTunes allows me to select the tune piece from the library, loads the player and just sits there not advancing the song.
If I try to play am MP3 through Windows Media Player same thing happens. I also can't play any of the video files I have on dick either. They play a few seconds worth, pause, then play a pit more and it repeats.

If two of your media players are doing that, we'd better have a look in your control panels.
Open your "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel. Click the "Audio" tab.
Is the correct default device showing up in the "Sound Playback" area?

Unable to play any type of video on iTunes

I currently have iTunes 11.0.5.5 running on a 64-bit version of Windows 7. My problem is that whenever I try to play any type of video file including Movies and Music Videos, iTunes freezes. I can not do anything to it. I can't even close iTunes, I can only close iTunes by using the Task Manager.
This problem has been going on since iTunes was in version 10. I have already tried unistalling and reinstalling, but that didn't do anything to it.
I do not know how or why this happend, but I need a solution to fix this problem.

Lion will not play any type of video AT ALL

Problem after problem. No login to itunes...10 hours of troubleshooting later itunes is fixed. Now it will not play any type of video.....nothing. I'm starting to feel I have made a big mustake going to apple. An Ultra expensive version of windows that won't work at ALL...Fix one thing two more are broke

does it play using quicktime?

[SOLVED] Session is closed when I play any type of videos

Hi,
I can't play videos any type of videos. I've tried with VLC and MPlayer, but as soon as they load, the session is closed and I have to log back in.
I use linux-ck kernel (uname -r: 3.2.2-1-ck). Tried with Arch stock kernel but same problem.
Also, I have ATI Catalyst drivers (latest, installed using catalyst-total from AUR) and use KDE.
I don't know what else I can tell you.. already looked at google/forums with no luck.

IPad no longer playing ANY type of video after 8.3 upgrade

My iPad mini can no longer play ANY video. I have tried various movies/tv shows from my library and directly from iTunes. When I play a video, I get the following message "This operation could not be completed. An unknown error occurred (-16710).
I have tried several things including reboot, reset, reset all settings, and a full wipe and restore. No dice. This baby is dead in the water.
Any ideas?

Are you playing the DVD via Front Row or on a stand-alone basis via the DVD Player? Regardless, your computer may well be impacted by the glitches in your OS build, specifically impacting those of us with 20" iMacs and 256 vram. Check the build of your operating system by going to Apple>About this Mac and click where you see Version 10.4.4 - your Build information will appear. If your build is 8G1171, expect a fix to be on the way. More on that issue here & elsewhere:

Firefox will not play any type of videos while other browsers do??

Using windows 7, real player installed, cant plah any videos at all while other bowsers do.

Need serious help!? my itunes says - i tunes has stopped working - everytime i try and play any type of video on my computer.. i have re istalled it, repaired it, tryed cleaning my pc, and i tried updating it but it still wont work? whats wrong with it?

Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

My Macbook pro won't let view any type of video online?

So I don't know much about the techical side of computers, so ill try and explain this as best I can. About 24hours ago my macbook pro stopped letting me into a program I use for University called Pebblepad (which is an online portfolio that I document my work in), I have since tried other sites such as youtube and other sites that have video footage on thier webpage such as facebook ect. and nothing I cannot view anything online.
I'm using Safari, also have firefox neither works, any suggestions?

Go to Adobe.com, download and install the latest Flash for Mac. I would also get Flip4Mac, and VLC Player.

Can't play any video...

I'm on a dell optiplex GX1 with an nvidia mx 400 card, this same card worked on the model that came before this machine fine but i just noticed that i can't play any type of video, not standalone files of through the mplayer-plugin. any help would be appreciated. i also tried the different options for the nvidia driver with/out "RenderAccel", disabled dri and glx in the xorg file, and still nothing, though everything else works fine. i also tried the different outputs in mplayer too. if it helps, this is the output i get from an .avi file:

How can I determine the type of video out connector I need?

I have a white macbook purchased Jun/2008. I want to connect to a TV but don't know what adapter I need. How can I determine the type of video out jack my macbook has?
System Profiler says the model identifier is "MacBook 4,1". Under Graphics/Displays the only thing it says about the "Display Connector" is that no display is connected. Too bad it doesn't tell me what type of connector it is. If I knew the name of the connector I'd probably be home free. But it seems like every macbook model has a different video connector (since the state of the art has advanced over the years) and I haven't been able to keep up with the names.
Now, I have a 6" long adapter that will convert this connector to VGA. And searching the Apple store for VGA adapters, the existence of mine says my connector is might be one of "Mini DisplayPort", "Apple Mini DVI", "Apple DVI", or "Apple Micro-DVI". But then there is also the connector at

and that looks like the one I have. But unlike the other adapters, this one is just called a "VGA Display Adapter". Does the connector have a name? How can I find adapters that have that same connector?
I know I could use the adapter I have, plus a VGA to VGA cable, to hook up to a TV. But the quality of the VGA signal is poor in the digital world. My goal is to hook up to the TV via HDMI. Is this even possible? By which I mean, will my macbook generate the signals necessary to be able to be converted to HDMI?

You're right, the cable that I have won't work. I't from my previous, 2004 iBook. This is pretty embarrassing... I looked at the cable but didn't bother to try plugging it in.
Looking at the close-up picture of the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, that does look like the right connector. So I have Mini-DVI, and the other apter you pointed to can convert this to DVI. I'll take a look to see what makes the most sense, connector wise, downstream from that.

I can't play any sort of media on my bb curve 8520

I received this phone from my dad who got a newer version. Everything was working fine when he had it, but I took it I went through "security options" and pressed a "security erase" everything he had was reset in order for me to be able to configure my email accounts, etc.
But now I can't play any music or videos, not from youtube or from the media player on the phone, I mean it doesn't even play the song that comes for default! an error saying "Unable to play content" keeps coming up, and I have already taken out the battery and put it back on three times.
Please help me!!

I had to reset it again and use the desktop software reinstalling the entire basic software. On your desktop blackberry software go to the software up date thoght tools and if there are no newer veresions available, chose the botton for las version and intall it.

Wireless network setup with Microsoft virtual mini-port adapter, since connecting my iPad to the network I can't play any video in Safari in sites like Youtube or cnet...etc. also other Apps that depend on Safari to play videos has the same problem.
I tried my iPhone 5s, the same problem. Both iPad and iPhone has iOS 7.1.1.
The strange thing is that My iPhone 4 iOS v5.1.1 doesn't has the problem with this wireless network.
