I can't play my playlists

All of a sudden I can't play my playlists. When I attempt to play an album nothing happens.

David:
Can you play music directly from your Library? Are there any next to the song files? Are you sure the volume is not turned all the way down or on mute?
We need a bit more information - such as what version of iTunes you have installed.

  • ATV still can't play movie playlists?

I tried to make a playlist of movies (m4v format) that I converted from Handbrake.
Then I choose to sync both the movies and playlist to my ATV.
But on the movie part, I still can't see the playlist.
    What's wrong?
Shouldn't the 2.3 update play the movie playlist already?
Or simply it still can't play the playlists that I converted myself, only play those purchased from iTunes?
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

This doesn't really contribute anything but....
Music video playlists and playlists for short TV shows (eg kids cartoons) I can understand, but I can't personally envisage needing a movie playlist - what do you need it for? Is it say for watching Star Wars I-VI consecutively or something along a 'movie party' line?
Even with TV shows so long as they're grouped properly can't see it takes more than a couple of secs to select the next episode.
Maybe it's because I'm not a big playlist user (even for music) in the first place.

  • Can You Play Multiple Playlists Without User Intervention

Can you stack and play multiple playlists? ie if you had three playlists of 50 songs each, could you pick all three, play all the songs in the first playlist, when it is finished move automatically to the second playlist play its songs then automatically move to the third without user intervention? And if so, can you play each of these in shuffle mode?

There's no "impromptu" method of doing so that I know of.
As far as un-impromptu methods (it's always fun inventing words), it will depend on whether you want to listen to this mega-playlist on an iPod or just with iTunes.
If it's just with iTunes, you can go to the File menu > New Folder command and create a new folder which we can call the Mega-Playlist folder. Drag the three playlists in question into that folder. When you select that folder and press Play, iTunes should go through all the songs.
If it's on an iPod, since Folders don't transfer over from iTunes, the only solution I know of would be to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes that will -
Match any of the following rules:
Playlist is the first playlist +
Playlist is the second playlist +
    Playlist is the third playlist.
Synching this mega-playlist to your iPod will allow you to select it from the Playlist menu.
Shuffle mode would shuffle songs from all three playlists together, not shuffle songs from the first playlist before moving on to shuffling songs from the second playlist before shuffling songs from the third playlist.

  • How can I play a playlist and not the entire library on my shuffle?

I can't seem to organize songs into playlists and then play only the songs in the playlist -

There is if you play music from your computer (mine is connected via AirTunes to several stereo systems) or if you later get a Nano, or iPod with Video or an iPhone that does support playlists.
You can also use them to load songs on your Shuffle. For example, say you are going on a long exercise walk and you want many motivational songs with increasingly faster tempos. You could create a playlist on your computer, put the songs in it that you want, in the order you want, call it Long Walk, and then when your Shuffle is connected choose to Autofill from the playlist Long Walk

  • How can you play multiple playlists sequentially?

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on iTunes. I've looked around the web and the forum but haven't found anything related to this specific question (though I find it hard to believe I'm the first one to ask it).
I've created various playlists (not smart, just regular) with songs in an order that I like. I would love to find a way to be able to line these playlists up in a queue to have them played sequentially one after the other. Now I know you're thinking "why not just add them all to a new playlist?" That's one solution... but as weird as this sounds I was wondering if there's a way to set something up so iTunes will randomly select one of these selected playlists that I've created, play it through, and then randomly pick another of the selected playlists and play it through. This is different than a regular shuffle situation because I'd like the playlists themselves to be the shuffled items (not the songs - i.e the contents of the playlists retain their order). Why am I looking for this option? It allows me to create playlists in an order I desire and have iTunes select to play these lists (almost as if they were CD albums and iTunes was a 200 disc changer) at random, and would continuously play/loop.
To try and put it another way if playlist A has songs 1-5, and playlist B has songs 6-10, and playlist C has songs 11-15, I want iTunes to randomly select A, B or C, and play them in their entirety leaving the 5 songs within A, B or C in their specified order in the playlist (so it won't simply grab song 12 from C, then song 2 from A, then song 15 from C).
Does anybody know if this is possible? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Give every track in a playlist the same Grouping tag, then set your shuffle options to shuffle by Groupings.

  • Is it possible to play a playlist with podcasts in it? (Nano 3rd gen.)

I can't play the playlist, the now playingscreen shows the title of a song (that's not even in the playlist) and 1 of 0 and nothing is playing. Happens with all playlists that have one or more podcasts in it. Playlist with only songs work good.
I have already reset the iPod.
    Thanks for helping me out!

My god, what is the problem here? Is it too much to ask for an answer to my question? Is this a forum or what?
Yes, it's a user-to-user forum. If no one knows the answer to your question or no one feels like answering it, you won't get an answer. This is NOT Apple tech support.
My iPod is not functioning, and Apple just doesn't give a f*? What kind of business are you running?
"Apple" as a corporate entity, doesn't participate much in these forums. You can contact Apple Tech Support directly. The contact information can be accessed through the link at the lower right of every page that says "Contact Us". It has been my experience that they are very helpful. If you are beyond the warranty/support period, that help may cost you.
    Best of luck.

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

  • IPod: Can I designate specific playlists I want to play in order/shuffle?

With either the newer or older version of the iPod, is there a way I can designate a specific playlist to play in order or shuffle? I know with iTunes you can specify what playlists you can shuffle and ones that you don't. It's the iPod that I'm interested in finding out. I have several playlists that I want to keep in a particular order and there are others that I can shuffle them. Is it a "all or nothing" arrangement?

It's two completely different actions, so one is not "better" than the other.
There is no Shuffle on/off on the main menu.
This simply plays all songs in random order.
Nothing else will be shuffled if you play it.
It you want to listen to all the songs on the iPod without them being shuffled, press Play.
If you want to shuffle aything else, you must go to Settings -> Shuffle - Songs (or album).
This way I'll have my playlists back in order when I remove the shuffle feature.
The playlists do not get "out of order". The songs are simply played in a random order. If you turn shuffle on and view the playlist, it will be in the exact same order as with shuffle being turned off.

  • My iPhone4 can't sync to Itunes after I have updated the iPhone to ISO5.0. now my iPhone can't play music. whenever i go to play my music on my iPhone it just reverts back to the playlist. hopeless! ISO5.0 is as bad as Microsoft stuffs.

I have recently updated the iTunes in order to update both my iPhone and iPad to ISO5.0. unfortunately, after the updated, my iPhone is no longer playing any music. whenever i go to play music on my iPhone it just reverts back to the playlist or it keeps running through song to song. But still, no music is on.
I tried to re-sync the music library, error mesage prop up,
"The iPhone 'xfdsarw' could not be synced because the sync session failed to start"
I delete the iTunes and download it again. Then, I restore my iPhone to the version before ISO 5.0. After, I do the updated again. However, the problem still exists. What should I do? Please advise. I cant believe that iPhone cannot play iTunes!!!!
How come, apple acts like Microsoft? I saw this problem had existed in the developer stages back to the past summer. Then, you guys didnt fix it before the release of ISO 5.0. Hopeless. As being a life-long apple fan, I am so disappointed! Wordless  ....

My music can be played in my iMac and iPad itunes, but not my iPhone4.
i did what you have suggested to unsync the music and then re-sync again. should i try to cancel all the music in the library and then restore them again. can it work? i dont want to bet coz reloading so much music is very trouble.

it recognizes the iPOD but I can't get any of the new songs to import to the iPOD
are you getting an error message, Odessa? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if you're not getting an error message, describe what happens when you try to transfer songs to the ipod as best you can.

  • How can you create a playlist with music and music video and play those from same playlist through Apple TV?

How can you create a playlist on Ipod touch with music and music video,  and play those from same playlist through Apple TV?  I can download, create a playlist with both music and music video, stream that through the Apple TV with no problem.  The sound and the information show up on the TV, but when it gets to a music video, it only shows the information and "artwork".
I also have a video playlist - videos play fine through the Apple TV, but will not shuffle through all videos - continues to repeat the same one.  I have most definitely selected shuffle in both locations - from the playlist and on the ipod video screen while video is playing.

I finally got it... had to sync the photos with the music in iMovie, arrange the voiceover in GarageBand then export to iTunes, and then I was able to put it all together in iMovie and burn in iDVD... had a few glitches along the way but finally finished : )

  • HT203433 I purchased a song but noticed it doesn't appear in the playlist on my iPhone.  I can see it under 'purchases' but can't play it.  How do I get it onto the playlist?

I bought a song on iTunes but noticed it doesn't appear in my playlist.  It is under 'purchases' but I can't play it and don't know how to move it to my playlist.  I also tried downloading it again but can't.  What should I do?

You can remove just one saved User ID, Email Address, or Password on Firefox the same way you do it on IE.
Click on the form that you have your saved User ID, Email or Password for. Press the down arrow key to bring up the username for the form that corresponds to the password or ID or Email address you want to delete.
Highlight the username by pressing on the down arrow key again or just highlight what you want deleted and then press the "DEL" or "DELETE" button on your computer.
This should remove the one you want to delete.
I did this with a User ID on Firefox that I had accidentally spelled wrong. It works.

Have you tried resetting your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
