I can't play Sorenson 3 video on Quicktime X

I have a few videos that I need to convert into a viewable format on my Mac.  Currently when I try to play the videos on Quicktime X, all I get is audio but no video.
Upon opening Movie Inspector I see the following:
Format: Sorenson Video 3 Pro, 848 x 480
             AAC, 44100 Hz, Mono
I already tried enabling legacy codecs on the command line, but I still can't see the video.
Is there anyone that can help me?

Interesting topic. See if the following helps.
Format: Sorenson Video 3 Pro, 848 x 480
             AAC, 44100 Hz, Mono
Believe the Sorenson Video 3 Pro codec was a paid multi-pass VRB upgrade to the Apple Standard Sorenson/Sorenson 3 video codec package. Assume the standard package supports Sorenson Video 3 Pro playback but cannot test this hypothesis as I only have the standard codec currently active and no Sorenson Video 3 Pro sample files available for testing. If so, then...
I already tried enabling legacy codecs on the command line, but I still can't see the video.
Under Mavericks and Yosemite, legacy codecs are, by default, available for passive (playback) support. I.e., it is only necessary to re-enable legacy video codecs is you plan to use them actively for export in QT 7 based apps or similar third-party apps like MEG Streamclip. Unfortunately, the "Modernizer" routine for QT X will only pass the data to the converter if it is programmed to do so. If you have the QT 7 player installed on your system, suggest you try playing the file in that media player. If the file plays, then you can either use this player for playback. In addition, if you have the QT 7 Player keyed for "Pro" use or have the MPEG Streamclip app installed on your system, then you can also convert such files to H.264/AAC for compatibility with all current QT media players. On the other hand. if the files are not playable, then it would seem to indicate that the standard Sorenson Video 3 package does not support Sorenson Video 3 Pro playback.
Also of interest to me was the fact that the FFmpeg codec package also supports Sorenson Video/Sorenson Video 3 content. Unfortunately, nothing was stated regarding "Pro" variation playback support in the articles I read. Basically this means that apps, such as VLC, HandBrake, etc, may or may not also support the playback and/or conversion of your Sorenson Video 3 Content. Would, therefore, also recommend you also test your files in these or similar apps. My personal preference for conversion would be the latest version of HandBrake.

  • Can't play youtube music videos on facebook

hi everyone, i was wondering, am i the only person who can't play music-videos from youtube - on facebook? i don't have this problem on chrome [which belongs to google, and so is youtube..]
it started in the last few days, or weeks, before i updated my firefox. i can't play youtube music-videos posted on facebook from facebook, but i can play them only from youtube.com.
when i try to play a video that has music in it, i get this message:
"this video contains content from RECORDLABEL. it is restricted from playback on certain sites. watch on youtube"
i also sometimes get a message that a certain video can't be played from playlists, but i can watch the video from its page [i don't know if it's related..].
my friends who use chrome can play music-videos on facebook, and i tried for myself and it plays the videos and doesn't show any restrictions messages.
i didn't try on explorer [bleh] or opera.
so my question again is, do you have the same problem too?
i can play this video on facebook: [it's funny as hell, watch it!]

but i can't play this one on facebook, only on youtube: [and other music-videos, i can give you a million examples]

  • LR 5.4 Can't Play or Import Video in OSX Mavericks

I copied several MP4 video files from the Lumix LX7 card to a folder on an external hard drive. However I can't import them into LR 5.4. Furthermore, I now see that LR can't play any video files (all MP4) that are in the catalog. The playbar doesn't even show up.
This problem came up when I upgraded to OS X Mavericks and upgraded from LR 4 to LR 5. So I'm not sure what's causing the issue. Was able to import and play videos before, but they played kind of choppy earlier.
I've since removed all Quicktime plugins (Perian). Made sure I'm using the most recent version of Quicktime (10.3). Repaired permissions and restarted. Still can't play or import video.
I've also reinstalled LR 5.4 and wiped preferences files. Earlier I couldn't import photos & videos, but I paritially fixed that when I removed the video files from the import folder. I was able to get all the images in fine then. The video seems to be the hangup.
In catalog: no video preview image, just grey, no playbar.
In import: generic "camera" preview image, says "Could Not Read Preview"
Any idea what I can do to get LR to play and import videos, or fix the issue?

Incidentally, the videos playback without a hitch in Quicktime. When I right-click on any of the catalog videos and select "Show In Finder," the MP4 plays perfectly in Quicktime.
It just won't play within LR 5.4.

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

  • I can't play music or videos!!

I can't play music or videos on iPod touch 5! When I play music it pauses and plays by itself and then Siri randomly pops up and then goes away again. The same happens with videos on YouTube; when I watch them they randomly pause and my music starts playing and then Siri starts! I have tried resetting it and it is not insured. Please help?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - dusconnedc/unpluf any headpohnes. Maybe headphone problem is causing problem
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Hmm . . . comes with a Utility MPEG2 Component ML app with no explanation of what it's for?
The utility app is an "assistant PKG installer." It allows Lion and Mountain Lion users to install the older QT MPEG-2 Playback Component installer PKG file which is not allowed to run on its own under Lion or Mountain Lion since these operating systems already have a QT X only MPEG-2 component embedded in the QT embedded structure. Without this utility you would have to either copy the component from an older system to your Lion or Mountain Lion system, use Pacifist for installation, or manually open the PKG contents and transfer the component to the appropriate component folder.
As to your "discussion" regarding the playback of AVI file types, there are really only two strategies here:
    1) You can add component support so that QT can play the files natively or
    2) You can convert the file contents to compression formats that are natively compatible with the unmodified QT component configuration.
Each user should decide for his or her own self which approach best suits their needs for a particular source file. In most cases, conforming the system's codec component configuration to play the source file directly results in higher video quality since no transcoding takes place but this strategy will not work if a codec which is required is not available for the user's operating system. On the other hand, converter utilities tend to support more built-in codecs and are easier to use since the user does not have to concern him or herself with the nature of the particular source compression formats but at the risk of some potential loss in visual quality. As to what converter to use, once again this is a matter of personal choice. In the case of commercial converters like iSkysoft, the codecs are built in while MPEG Streamclip accesses the host operating system's QT codec component configuration. I personally prefer the free HandBrake app for AVI, MKV, TS, MTS, and M2TS conversions since it has an exceptionally full-featured X.264 GUI with some user options that 97% of users are likely to never use.

  • How can I play multiple music videos continuously on Apple TV?

Regular music plays continuously, one song to another, etc. I can't get my music videos to do the same. One plays, and after it's over, ATV won't go to the next video. I can't figure it out. Does anyone out there know how to do it?

What I find is really silly, is the fact the music video's are listed under that artists albums in the Music menu. And when you go into the video 'album' (called 'Unknown' unless you change it) there is an option to shuffle the tracks. Clicking this just results in an error message. So, they should either remove that option if it is a video album, or, better yet, GET IT TO WORK. So silly of them to omit this.
    I have submitted feedback.

  • How can I play ABSOLUTELY LOSSLESS video on the iPad2?

    Hi everyone!
I'm creating some test videos for a project I'm working on.  I have a sequence of png test images that are 1024x768.  I would like to have these images play back on the iPad2 as a video.  The catch is that there needs to be absolutely zero mathematical loss in the final video - each frame should be an exact representation of the associated png image.  This is not an aesthetic requirement, it's a scientific requirement.  I'm doing a study on pixels.  Any suggestions?
I've been using the free version of FileApp to load videos onto the iPad and play them through that app.  I've been encoding my lossless video into Quicktime in AfterEffects using a variety of codecs, including Animation and PNG, both of which playback on my PC perfectly lossless-ey, but when I try to play them back on the iPad2 they don't play back at all.  Some other codecs like the H264 or Jpeg get very close, but there are losses in the final version.
I'm not concerned with file size... I have the 64Gb version and I'm willing to use all of that for this project.
Any suggestions for video playback apps?  Preferably free so I can test this lossless requirement without wasting some money first.
Any suggestions for encoders and codec settings?

Well, if you are not concerned about file size, then you can just encode the videos as APNG and then play the videos with https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/apng/id447928057. All you need to do is put the xyz.apng file on a webserver somewhere and then copy and paste the URL into the bar at the top of the APNG app. The file will then be downloaded and played. Just be aware that a full screen iPad size video is massive and it will tax the IO subsystem to the limit, so the max framerate you will be able to get on an iPad2 will be about 20FPS. In case this was not clear, APNG is basically the same as a series of PNG images, it is completely lossless.

  • I can't play MPEG4.avi video  - all I get is "The video player has stopped working. Please relaunch"

I can't play MPEG4.avi, or any other, video  - all I get is "The video player has stopped working. Please relaunch".  Please tell me what to do.

I took the video in 2009.  I can't remember the camera model I took it with and the other information you request does not show up in the "i" panel in iPhoto.
My version of iPhoto 11 is 9.2.3.

  • I can't play any web video in any site like Youtube or cnet...etc on iPad mini

Wireless network setup with Microsoft virtual mini-port adapter, since connecting my iPad to the network I can't play any video in Safari in sites like Youtube or cnet...etc. also other Apps that depend on Safari to play videos has the same problem.
I tried my iPhone 5s, the same problem. Both iPad and iPhone has iOS 7.1.1.
The strange thing is that My iPhone 4 iOS v5.1.1 doesn't has the problem with this wireless network.
Anyone had the same problem. Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

If it is related to the allowance setting then why iPhone 4 iOS5 is working fine.
I tried to check the settings, noting to add or do there.

  • Can ATV play multi layered video track .mov files?

    Hi all,
Front Row 2 cannot play multi layered video track .mov files for now,
so I wonder if an ATV take 2 can play .mov files with 2 or more video track?

    HeyJP wrote:
yeah, so far, it looks like it has to be pretty vanilla. Only a single h.264 track and an audio track.
The new 5.1 rentals supposedly have 2 audio tracks - stereo for devices that can't handle 5.1 via HDMI and presmably to give stereo audio out via the RCA sockets, and the 5.1 passthrough.
It may be that with time more fucntionality will be added to movie playback, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • How can I play music and video files in Solaris 10?

Hi all. I just downloaded Solaris 10 and installed it. I haven't used it for a long time (since version 8), and as I can see now, there are many improvements. I just loved Java Desktop! :)
Can someone please tell me what libs or codecs etc, do I have to download and install in order to play music and videos (mp3, wmv, dvd etc), and where I can find them?
I use the on-boaad sound system (Realtek AC97)
    Thank you all.

You didn't mention if the sound drivers are working. If not, download and install the driver from here and reboot (it supports your codec):
