I can't print using Bonjour on Windows Vista

Hi. I've connected an HP printer to my Airport Extreme. My great MacBook can print using the printer, but my other computer, running Windows Vista (**** IT!) can't do that. When i install bonjour, it recognizes the printer but can't print. Why? Oh, and after i have installed Bonjour, all the other programs run with problems... so i have to cancel Bonjour... why? Thank you

deleted Vista and installed XP

  • Anything printed using Bonjour from Windows to Mac is very light in color

I dont get this at all. And it only started happening very recently. When using my printer connected to my Mac, and printing from my Windows Vista laptop (using Bonjour of course), all of the colors are very light. Black text is light grey, and all of the other colors are very washed out. I have no idea whats going on here. My printer is a Canon MP160.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I have the same problem after I updated to 10.5.5 yesterday. My Canon MP 780 works perfectly printing from my mac and all the networked macs in the house. When I connect the printer to Vista (on my mac) running in Parallels directly (by checking my printer in "Devices- USB"), it works perfectly; but when I try to print networked from Vista via Bonjour, it uses blue ink for text. Prior to the update it printed perfectly without having to connect it to Parallels.

  • Unable to print through Bonjour from Windows Vista

I recently installed an Airport Extreme for my wireless netowrk. I have two desktops directly connected to the Airport - an iMac and a PC running Windows Vista. There is also a Samsung USB printer connected to the airport. There are also two laptops connecting wirelessly - a PC running Windows Vista and a MacBook.
All of the computer are able to print fine using Bonjour EXCEPT the desktop running Vista. When I run Bonjour for Windows, it sees the printer and I select it. Then, when I try to print, nothing happens. Eventually, the print job times out and I get an error.
I've compared the settings to the laptop running Vista and everything is the same as far as I can tell. I can't figure out what's going on. I've turned off firewall software, called Apple support, and even gone so far as to do a system restore but nothing has worked.
    Any ideas?

Installing AirPort Utility on the PC won't buy you anything as far as setting up a printer.
Your best shot is to download, install and run Bonjour Print Services for Windows v2.0.2 to see if the application can "find" your printer on the network to allow you to print from the PC.
You may likely need to restart the entire network including the printer to get everything in sequence. Just power off every device in any order you want, wait a minute, then start the modem first and let it run a few minutes. Start other devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up.

  • Printer shared from my Mac is not seen from a PC using Bonjour for Windows

I am going nuts here, hope someone can help.
I have a Canon multi-function printer (MP830) attached via USB to a Mac G4 (with Mac OS X Tiger). At one time, I had it set so a Windows 2000 PC could print to it but deinstalled it after some printing issues, and have been unable to get to working again. The machines are connected together via a Netgear router. As far as I know, everything is the same as it was before, yet I cannot get it to work as it did.
    - The printer works fine from the Mac.
    - If I connect the printer to the PC, it works fine.
    - On the PC, using Bonjour for Windows, I cannot see the printer attached to the Mac but I can see, and print to, an Epson printer that is attached to a different Mac.
    - And from the second Mac, I am able to see -- but not successfully print to -- the Canon printer. The print job stays in the queue of the second Mac and says "Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry... Error: Connection failed with error."
    - I have tried:
-- de-installing and re-installing Bonjour for Windows and the Canon print drivers on the PC
-- and have de-installed and re-installed the Canon drivers on the Mac
-- I have removed and re-added the Canon printer on the Mac. Printer Sharing is on, and this printer is checked in the Sharing box.
    Any suggestions?
G4 Quicksilver and Dell PC with Windows 2000   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Canon MP830

Thank you. Those are beautifully written procedures.
Looks like it's a network issue. I reach the step, "Adding a printer using the wizard":
You must enter the following URL, you must use the Queue Name you noted down earlier
    http://<IP address of Mac>:631/printers/Queue Name
    which I do, entering
    http://192.168.0.4:631/printers/MP830
and I get the following error:
"Could not connect to the printer. You either entered a printer name that was incorrect or the specified printer is no longer connected to the server."
    And then I am toast!
Using the other procedure, I simply don't see the Mac's printers in the Bonjour Wizard's "Browse for Bonjour Printers" window.
Not sure where to go from here -- any ideas?
The Mac's IP (set via DHCP) is 192.168.0.4, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The PC is 192.168.0.5, I can't find the subnet mask.
Pretty sure it's a network config issue, especially isnce I can Bonjour to my other Mac.
    TIA...

  • Using Bonjour with Windows 7?

Recently purchased an HP G62-144DX Notebook with Windows 7 pre-installed. I've been trying to print using Bonjour through the airport express to my Canon printer. The airport works with the Mac OS on my iMac and Macbook pro. It usually works with an old Dell laptop that runs Vista Home Premium. However, it does not work on my HP with Windows 7 or my iMac with Windows 7. I have the latest Bonjour installation, which claims to work with Windows 7.
Oddly, when I print, I don't get an error message on my laptop. It's as though the computer sends the printed document off into space. I've tried disabling my Avast Anti-virus, thinking that maybe the print job was being firewalled. I've tried re-running Airport Utility. I've tried re-downloading Bonjour. Basically, I've tried everything that I can think of. Nothing ever prints.
Anyone have a clue how to resolve this?

I've read a lot of discussions on this problem and there was no answer I could find. However I knew that Bonjour uses IP address printing so I looked for where the address was configured. I have TimeCapsule but I think Airport works the same.
Go to Devices and Printers, right click on the Printer (HP, Samsung etc) and select Printer Properties and then select Ports and then highlight and "Configure" the port for the printer from the list. Mine Printer configuration said something like "TimeCapsule.local" for the IP address (strange IP address huh?) so then I set the IP address to 10.0.1.1 which is the address of my TimeCapsule. Eureka, it worked.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot print using Bonjour 1.03

This iMac is connected to a HP LaserJet 1022 via USB. My wife uses a Dell desktop and now wants access to the Laserjet. So I have installed Bonjour on the Dell and it has identified the Laserjet connected to this iMac. But when attempting to print a document nothing happens
The strange thing is, if I view the list of completed jobs in system preferences/print & fax/print queue, the doc's that I have attempted to print from the Dell are listed as completed/finished.
The UDP port is open on the Dell and sharing for printer and windows is set up. Any ideas???

This may not be good news but, if you are using Windows Vista on the Dell laptop, then I can sympathise with you. For the past 6 weeks I have been trying to send a print file from a Toshiba Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium via a MAC wireless network to an iMac running OS X 10.4.9 which has an HP 2410 connected to it by USB.
The Toshiba shows print jobs running & completed but there has been absolutely nothing happening on the iMac. Investigation of the Network shows Port activity from the Toshiba to the iMac so there are quite a few files floating in cyberspace.
(Another laptop running windows XP Pro can easily use the same network to get print jobs to the iMac which then prints them OK on the HP 2410. This can be done using Bonjour or not using Bonjour - details on the iFelix website.)
Delving deep into Vista Windows Registry seems to indicate a bewildering set of conflicting security permissions irrespective of what is set globally. The Toshiba is new & came pre-loaded with Vista. I just wish I'd bought an XP Pro machine; it had to be a Windows machine for school compatibility otherwise I'd never even give Windows a second glance.

  • I can't print using airprint from my iPhone 4.  Everything with the phone and the printer and router are up to date.  I can print from my iPad 2 with no problems.  What's wrong with the iPhone 4?

I can't print using airprint from my iPhone 4.  Everything with the phone and the printer and router are up to date.  I can print from my iPad 2 with no problems.  What's wrong with the iPhone 4?

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

  • Running 10.6.8 on mac mini. ethernet port quick. I can not print using wireless

Can not print using wireless. It printed fine using ethernet
Running 10.6.8 on mac mini. Ethernet port has quit. (lighting strike I think, it fried two routers, did not get anything else)

    Nothing to go on here.
Do you have a wifi capable printer? If so, what model? What happens when you try to set it up?

  • Can you print using both USB and Wireless on HP M175nw?

I am having a problem with my new LaserJet 100 colorMFP M175nw. When I initially set it up with Setup wizard, I selected the "USB" option, since that was how my old printer was hooked up to the computer. That worked fine and the printer works perfectly with my desktop. Now I can't figure out how to also set up the printer to be used wirelessly. I specifically bought this printer because I wanted to be able to Airprint from an ipad. I've tried several of the fixes listed on this website, but I'm not able to get a list of wireless networks to appear on the printer's menu. I am using a Linksys wireless G router, which is hardwired to my desktop, but which I use to wirelessly access the internet with my laptop and ipad.
What is the best way to be able to use the printer with my both my desktop (non-wireless), laptop, and ipad (both wireless)? Can I leave the printer hardwired to my desktop with a USB AND connect the other devices wirelessly? If so, what is the best way for me to connect the printer to my router - wirelessly or wired? What steps do I need to take to do that and get the printer connected?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
Before Christmas 2011, I ran few tests and I've posted elsewhere on this forum. My printer is a different model but I believe same technology. My tests indicated we can connect printer using BOTH wireless and USB. Printer will show busy/not available during direct print (ie USB) but it knows job(s) is/are on the queue and print after that.
One thing I could not test successfully: scan and print at the same time.
    Regards.

  • Printing with a USB printer using Airport Extreme and Vista

I have a airport extreme and it prints fine with all of my Macs.
I bought a VAIO installed with Vista and the lastest service pack. Here is what I have done
    * Installed Bonjour Printing software on the Windows Machine
    * Installed the print drivers on the Windows Machine
    * Bonjour finds the printer and driver without any problem
    * When I test the printer will print either one page or half of one page and then I get an error message.
    * I enabled the UDP 5353 port in the Firewall
The printer is a Epson Photo R220
I have no problems with the Macintosh works great and I have no problems with the Windows machine connecting to the Airport for internet usage.
If anyone out there has a solution I would very appreciative.
    Thanks

No help from the forum. I used Bonjour for Windows.

I get this complicated error mesage and then the installer rolls back and fails.
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

  • Radeon 7500 Normal AGP card Without ADC (Used before on Windows Vista PC)

    Dear ...
i read in some articals on internet that you can use this kind of Cards "Radeon 7500 Normal AGP card Without ADC (Used before on Windows Vista PC)" with Mac G4 Quicksliver 733Mhz ... just u have to install it and leave Machine on for sometimes till dedicated it is thatture ?
    Message was edited by: waldhin

A Radeon 7500 (as well as any other AGP graphics card) that was removed from a PC must have its EEPROM chip re-programmed to function in an Apple computer. This is usually done while the card is installed in a PC, using a compatible flash utility program and the correct ROM code taken from the Mac version of the same card.

  • Bonjour on Windows Vista Business (Epson Stylus Pro 4800)

I've installed Bonjour 1.0.3 on Vista Business.
But the print stuck on about the half page. I think, Apple has to update Bonjour for Windows Vista.
    Do you have another idea?
    Best wishes.

The printer dialogue will only show printers connected (either physically or wirelessly) to your Mac.
There's got to be a simple answer to this as your Mac should find the printer. Epson has a Lion driver, so your printer should work.
Try a different USB cable and / or plug the printer into a different USB port on your Mac, then switch your printer on.
