I can't properly sync my iPod

I've been trying to update my Ipod touch but when I try, it says that I need to save the apps, pictures, music, videos, etc. but when I try, all that syncs is my apps, the computer i'm trying to sync to isn't the original computer I hooked it up to. Could that have something to do with it or is it just that there's a setting I need to switch on? Also, my old computer synced the pictures by treating my iPod as a digital camera, is there a way I can get it to do that again?
Also I use Windows, so please no pro-Mac comments about that being my problem, please.

Hi Larka,
The issue could be that you aren't syncing to the original computer, a little more information about the message you're getting would be fantastic though.
I believe it could be because apps can be redownloaded an unlimited number of times and potentially transferred to other devices, however things like music and videos are downloaded only once to a device initially.
I would suggest going to your original computer and copying the music, videos, pictures and such over to your new computer first so that they are accessible within iTunes and THEN syncing. You could use something like an external hard drive or home network.
When you go to sync next, you will still receive a warning about your data being lost, but as it is all on the computer it'll be put right back onto the iPod Touch.
Finally, as long as your iPod Touch has at least one photo on it it *should* show up as a camera in Windows. Normally, when you plug it in you'll be asked by the 'autorun' prompt what you'd like to do, and you can select to import photos.
If it's not prompting you, with the phone connected go to Control Panel and (depending on your version of Windows) look for an Autoplay option. In this area, you can select what you want to happen when a certain device connects to the computer by default.
I hope that helps. This is my first time posting here so, yes. =)

  • Hi,we have had to reset our pc to its factory settings and i can no longer sync my ipod when i purchase a song.

    Hi,
we have had to reset our pc to its factory setting and i can no longer sync my ipod when i buy a song? can anyone help? cheers.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this has not worked. I didn't have quicktime to begin with so I don't know if that makes a difference? After following the instructions, I get the "registry keys missing" problem appear again (which I've subsequently fixed again) and then when I connected the ipod I got the following message - 'Device driver software was not successfully installed'.
I've tried windows update but this doesn't do anything as '...the service is not running'.
    Any suggestions?

  • HT1345 i have a new macbook air, can i now sync my iPod classic with iTunes on my new computer instead of the Dell I was synching with before?

Hi  I have just aquired a new MacBook Air and I want to stop using my old Dell laptop as my itunes synch with my ipod.  Can I now sync the Ipod with the itunes account on my new Macbook?  I am worried it will take hours to synch if I choose the erase and synch option?

Is all the content from your iTunes library on the old Dell laptop now on your MacBook air?  If you copied the entire iTunes folder and copied it over the existing iTunes folder, your iPod will still think it is being synced to the same iTunes library and there would be no need to do an erase and sync.

Why not sync it and put what you want on it?
Create a playlist with the music you want.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Music tab.
    Tick Sync music.
Tick Selected playlists and select this playlist.
Add/remove from this playlist and plug in the iPod.

  • I want to set up iMessage and Facetime for my daughter.  I know I have to create a new apple ID but can I still sync her iPod to my iTunes account?

I bought my daughter an iPod touch for Christmas.  I orginally set up her iPod with my Apple ID but I realized that she needed her own apple ID in order to use iMessage and Facetime with me.  So if I create an Apple ID for her, can I link it to my email? Will I still be able to sync her iPod to downloaded songs from my Apple ID?

No, sorry.  Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID & Account used when making the purchase.  Purchases cannot be transferred to another AppleID.

  • How can I register/sync my iPod Nano to two separate iTunes accounts?

I have an iTunes account and so does my husband.  Being they are two separate accounts, how can I sync my device to both accounts?  Also being new to Apple devices, how can I move a purchased song from an iPad Mini to my Nano?

    1. Click here and follow the instructions.
    2. Sync the iPod nano with an iTunes library containing it. If none does, follow the instructions here or here.

  • Why can't I sync my ipod with iTunes 7.0.2?

I'm using itunes 7.0.2 and am having problems syncing my ipod. I have recently formatted my computer and reinstalled everything, including itunes. My whole library was lost. When I reinstalled itunes the library was empty and so it erased all the songs off my ipod when i connected and synced it. I later filled the library in the newly installed itunes and now when i want to sync the ipod it says "Songs on the ipod "XY" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I also can't update manually,so i'm basically left with a useless ipod.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,

      Windows XP

Thank you for your effort but when i create a new smart playlist and choose it as the playlist to sync to, i get the message "You changed your ipod settings. Would you like to apply them?" When i click APPLY, i get a new message, saying "The ipod "XY" cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (-50)." Also, my nano goes to charge mode (no "don not disconnect" sign) as soon as i get the old message "The ipod cannot be updated because the playlist no longer exist"...

  • Down loaded tracks can't be synced with ipod

I have a pc, running windows XP, home edition (2002) (Ignore what it says below, I'm not currently running a powerbook).
    My ipod is 5th generation.
The version of itunes is 7.6.1
The problem I have is this:
I have down-loaded some backing tracks from various web sites (but not the itunes store).
The down-loaded (MP3) tracks appear in itunes and can be played in itunes, but have a small exclamation mark beside them.
I can not move these tracks to any of the playlists and the tracks can not be synced to my ipod.
I can not find whereabouts on my computer the files are and have no idea how to go about finding them.
Is there anything I can do about this?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Malcolm

Why did you start a new account?
Copy everything from your backup copy of your computer to your new hard drive.
Ipod will sync to one itunes library at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content from the ipod.

  • Why can I not sync my iPod Classic?!

When trying to sync my iPod classic iTunes says it cannot be synced because "the required folder cannot be found". I have a PC and I have no problems syncing my iPhone 5c and iPad 3. Is there anyway I can fix this?

You may want to check ur settings. when you plug in ur ipod make sure it is highlighted then at the top of the page you will see tabs Summary Music Podcast Info....click on the MUSIC tab...in that box there will be 2 options:
    Sync Music
         Entire Music Library
Selected playlist, artist, albums, and genres
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF ENTIRE MUSIC LIBRARY
I hope this works....Let me know

  • Why can't I sync my iPod to iTunes wirelessly?

I have windows 7, the latest version of iTunes, an iPod Touch 4th generation with iOS 5 installed.  I have checked the "sync iPod by wi-fi" and have synced the iPod whilst still plugged in, and I am on the same wireless network, I am plugged into a power source, and I have restarted the iPod, iTunes, and even the entire computer itself, and yet the device is still not recognized when not connected and I still cannot sync wirelessly. I can view and play shared files from my computer wirelessly, but I cannot sync or even be discovered wirelessly. I've read forum after forum, tried advice after advice (afore mentioned) yet nothing... What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do right?

Yeah, same issue with me. Connected on the same network yet my iPod doesn't automatically appear in iTunes. So basically, we can't sync wirelessly on demand? What gives?
