I remember "publishing" menu in iweb but Ican't found now..

With as many people that have this same issue, I am very surprised that support is still sleeping at the wheel. Some of the suggestions border on the absolute absurd (e.g. create new user account, check the system clock, etc.). I've tried them all, including exclusion from AVAST, resetting router, etc etc etc. iCloud status shows all green.
As the owner of a software development company, I find it hard to believe Apple, of all support, has been unable to get this issue resolved once and for all. It would certainly make sense, as well, to collate this issue into a single thread instead of bouncing users off the moon and back.
I spent 1/2 day on the phone with Apple support trying to get iTunes to backup and was promised a call back from the next tier of support. That was 4 months ago and I still haven't been able to backup my iphone 4S. I've never seen software that is more kludgy and unreliable with every passing upgrade (sorry, but it's the truth)!
After two years of not being able to back up my phone, I am considering going to a more reliable platform. After 6 years on the Apple bus, maybe it's time to get off.

I can't publish - iWeb crashes every time I try

For the past 3 days, each time I try to publish, iWeb begins republishing all the pages and then just quits. I have been using the program for many months now and everything was fine. I added a lot of new photos. Could that be the problem? As far as I can tell, that is all I did. Any suggestions for getting back to my blog?

I am having the same problem. I have added another page to a site and iweb crashes. I have watched and it crashes at different times during the publish. I have tried to move the page around but nothing works. The last message I got was:

Hello there, I can't publish iweb site through FTP

Hi there, i get as far as"Testing succeeded, you can now publish site to FTP server" I click on publish site then- nothing happens.I've contacted the host site- ipowerweb and set everything up using Filezilla. They say everything is fine their end. Please, please somebody help, I've spent so long on this- life is too short! Ok drama over but would really appreciate some ideas.Thanks,

How can I publish iWeb site in root directory in place of a prior site?

Hi there... I have created a family web site and published it to my .mac account. The problem is that I had previously published another site and that site remains in the 'root' directory of my account. Practically, this means that if anyone types in:
web.mac.com/[username]
... they will get my old site instead of the site i wish them to see... Is there any way I can move my new site so that typing the more simplified 'root' address (above) will bring up the site I wish for them to view?

Do you have both sites in iWeb together? If so, then simply look in the Site Organizer, select the site that you want to come up by the short URL and drag it to the top of the organizer. iWeb will make whatever site is at the top of the Site Organizer the default site. You should probably do a "Publish ALL to .Mac" after doing this so that all the files are in the right place. So once you do this you can access the default site with the short URL http://web.mac.com/yourname and then you can access the second site by using its URL directly... http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/sitetwoname You could also provide links from site one to site two and vice versa to "link" the two sites together.

Where can you publish iWeb creations?

I am very new to iWeb and am trying to learn how to make it all work. Once a page has been created in iWeb, I want to learn where I can go to publish it. Obviously, MobileMe is one option. However, I have read here at the forums all about the agony that MobileMe brings and I am not prepared to go down that route. My interest in computing will quickly evaporate if I experience anywhere near the frustrations that MobileMe users get every day.
So what other options are available? Free is good but I'll gladly pay for quality service. My goal is just to produce a blog using iWeb.

Free usually means not so good. I use Host Excellence for publishing but, if you are blogging and don't need an actual website, you would be better to forget iWeb and use something like Blogger or Wordpress.
The iWeb blog is one of its least desirable features and can cause many frustrating problems. If you publish to a server other than MobileMe you will lose the commenting feature.
You can create a far more professional and trouble free blog courtesy of Google and publishing is absolutely free....

Hey. Is Apple having problems? I can no longer publish my iWeb sites (including blogs) as of noon Thursday.
And now this morning I CAN NO LONGER SIGN ON TO HOMEPAGE.
I get this odd message ...."Did not receive any response from application. It is possible that the application does not exist, or that the requested url is incorrect.".
It seams to try to log on thru moble me then the old dotmac window. But them I get this dialogue.
Is Apple doing repairs to the system? Has anyone seen any news?

Is one stuck only publishing an iWeb page to a .Mac account? I can't seem to find how I can publish my existing web pages to my current domain and for that matter I can't open my existing files.
This seems to be pretty useless. Microsoft Front Page did more.
I assume I have to go back to my text editor and continue with manual HTML code?

My Gallery has 66 personal photo albums of simple events (each photo with a caption). Using iWeb, I also have created a multi-page personal website of photos for each of 16 complex events (each site has a welcome page followed by 3-5 photo pages, and all pages have a few sentences of introduction). Now that my beloved Apple has spurned me, I'm hoping to get even, sort of, and post everything--all my photo albums and all my photo websites--in one place. This requires more complexity than I've seen in hunting among suggested replacments for iWeb or Gallery.
In my drooling ignorance, I can imagine a website that has a few levels. On one level are key photos for all gallery albums PLUS key photos for all websites. A user clicks on the main photo of an album or website, and it opens either an album's photos (the current gallery way) or a site's welcome page.
As best I can tell, I want too much. As promising as a site like Zangzing appears, it and others are limited to a single level of photos or to some six interior pages.
Level one shows the key photo for each gallery album AND a key , and has a grand welcome page with linkClick on an album photo and it opens all the album's photos. Click on a website photo, and it opens to s that read, say, "Albums 2000-2005," "Albums 2006-2012," "Websites 2000-2005," Websites 2006-2012." At the next level, each album and each website appears . For iWeb, I like to do only one site per domain file. I move domain files out of the Application Support folder and place them inside project or client folders, or in DropBox. Once you duplicate a domain file and begin customizing it, it will load and behave as a separate project/site.
I publish each iWeb domain/project direct to a server via FTP. Sometime I publish to a folder, then upload via FTP manually.
iWeb is a remarkable tool, especially when you work from scratch with blank tamplates

I can't publish to iWeb, it doesn't seem to be able to login to my icloud account. any ideas?

I've been trying to publish a site on iweb. It seems that iweb is unable to sign in to my icloud account. I push the publish to mobile me tab, push the sign into your account tab,( already a member). I get the barbers pole for 30 seconds or so, and then, nothing happens. Any ideas anyone?

iCloud does not offer webhosting.
You have to find a webhost.

Can't publish larger files in iWeb 09

Have recently updated my iWeb to 09 and had accidentally deleted my old Domaion file so had to rebuild site from scratch. Anyway, since I have, it gets stuck on pages that have any larger files on them (movie and audio files) despite having plenty of space in my MobileMe account. I get "Try again later" message.
Have managed to publish successfully to a local folder which I then tried copying with index to 'Sites' on my iDisk but that that too presents a problem saying "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)
I'm baffled! All I want to do is publish my site without any hassle, the files aren't that big only about 40 MB each. Can anyone suggest anything? Have had a look at iwebfaq and on here and have tried a few things but nothing seems to help so far. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received! Thanks!

That error code is -36 ioErr I/O error. Can you publish a different site? Crate a small test site and see if it will go thru. If not then it's not just your primary site.
If you expect to revise the site occasionally or want your visitors not to have to wait for those large files to load while the host page loads you might look at these ways to add a movie or audio file.
Movie: QT Movies and Opening Item in New, Specially Sized Window. The code used is shown.
Audio: Flash Audio Players - 3 different types of flash audio players. The code used is shown.
These methods require loading the movie or audio files only once and do not load on the pages until they are played.
