I can't purchase the mountain lion

HELP!!!!!!

Hello RFSS,
Please see the hardware information in the screentshot above. In the details also the production period (mid of 2010) is mentioned. According the information on the Apple homepage, the update should be possible (read here: http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/).

Till

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Mac OS X Snow Leopard. First, check if your computer is compatible > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
If your Mac is supported, make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. See if your applications are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com

Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
If you cannot get the free upgrade anymore, then you will have to purchase Mountain Lion.

What, specifically, is your Mac model?
MacBook Pro, but need the year it was released, processor speed, etc. This will determine if it *can* be upgraded further.

  • If my mac runs on leopard os, and not te snow leopard os , does this mean i can't purchase the new lion os?

if my mac runs on the leopard OS and not the snow leopard os, does this mean i can't purchase the new lion os?

We probably don't know the whole story yet.
The big announcement Steve Jobs made was, of course, a sales pitch with all the "gee whiz" stuff -- no nitty-gritty, gory details.
Apple's "How to buy" post (http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/) clearly says "To upgrade on day one" -- no mention of day two, or twenty.
It would be rather silly for Apple to take the position that, if you don't have broadband (for a 4 GB download), they don't want you as a customer.  So it's likely there will be an alternative for such folks, such as a DVD or USB stick, possibly for a nominal extra fee.  If so, that might also allow updating directly from Leopard.
When the actual release date is announced, there should be more details.

  • I have to purchase the Mountain Lion Again!!!!!!

After I was using the Mountain Lion for around 2 days, one time after I boot up my mac,  it would not start-up. I am stuck at the grey logo.......    I did everything that I can find in the discussions to repair the problem until to the point that I have to re-format my macbook pro...
Now after I reinstalled my DVD of the Snow Leopard and upgraded it to 10.6.8 I was happy and excited to open the APP Store once again to re-DOWNLOAD the app that I have already purchased,  to my dismay I have to pay and purchase the application again for me to be able to install it back??
I need help how can I get it back again without repurchasing...
    Thanks.

I did everything that I can find in the discussions to repair the problem until to the point that I have to re-format my macbook pro.
You should have done that, if it was necessary, by booting into Recovery, not by reinstalling 10.6.

  • Help!if i don`t update the lion ,is to say i can`t update the mountain lion?right?

Now, I don`t update the Lion ,but I want to update the Mountain Lion .Is to say I must first to update my mac to Lion, then I can update to Mountain Lion?right??//   please give me a help thanks!

No App Store, no spaces, no Time Machine, etc. etc.
As I said, no technolgical advance, no compelling reason to use it. Time Machine is not at all what Apple once promoted it as, since they dropped it in Lion.
And as far as Lion goes, a few that could not adjust their habits to a few interface changes went back to SL, which is still two OSs ahead of you.
This has nothing to do with people not being able to adjust their habits; it has everything to do with productivity, loss of features, and introduction of a new, confusing set of behaviors.
I don't know where you get your numbers from, I would like to see you back up your claim of 'so many people' as 6 million copies were downloaded in the first week alone
I didn't cite any numbers, so wondering where I got them is pointless. Reciting a claim that over 6 million copies of Lion were downloaded in the first week proves nothing.
Judging by the number of people on the forums who are not at all happy with Lion and asking how to downgrade is evidence of user dissatisfaction. Most people who are dissatisfied will not say anything at all, resigning themselves to being required to use it, thus making them unhappy customers and less likely to purchase another Mac or any other Apple device in the future.
Yet you seem to claim that 10.4.11 is where people should stop?
I didn't say or imply anything of the sort. I said that there's no good reason to upgrade just because it's shiny and new. Mac OS X has become bloated with "features" that have little or no practical value, and are seldom used, while at the same time breaking long-established features for no good reason, and having no replacement in place. At the same time, features that worked perfectly well in 10.4.11 and before were deliberately removed from later versions, without prior notice and never restored, along with bugs being introduced that also have never been fixed.
That's not my definition of progress, and I'd wager millions of others share that viewpoint.

  • I can't buy the Mountain Lion

I have a MaCBook OS X version 10.6.8 and wanted to upgrade (buy) the Mountain Lion but every time when I click on 'upgrade now' I get the App Store where I still can't buy it and when I try to upgrade it there, it sent me back to the window where I can see what Mountain Lion is all about... why can't I buy the upgrade?
    Any help

You must have read the requirements incorrectly. Below are the qualifying Macbook models. Looks like you have either a 2006 or 2007 model which doesn't qualify for ML.

After downloading, you must run the update. It doesn't automatically install, yet.

  • I installed Snow Leopard on my white Macbook 4,1 and purchased the Mountain Lion to upgrade again. Now it says not compatible and won't load. Required specs on my laptop seemed fine but? Any ideas what to try?

I ordered Snow Leopard and received the disk from Apple. It loaded fine in my white Macbook 4 ,1 that has 4GB memory, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.1 GHZ processor and L2Cache 3mb. Decided to upgrade once more to Mountain Lion (skipped Lion) and purchased the download directly from Apple. This morning I downloaded and when it went to install a screen appeared stating my laptop wasn't compatible. From what I had researched before purchasing Mountain Lion it seemed this laptop was fine. Do I need to purchase LION before trying to install Mountain Lion? Otherwise what could be wrong? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

    1. If desired, go to the online Apple Store and ask for a refund.
    2. Click here and see the lists of new and dropped features.
