I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod

Hey, I have 697 songs currently on my library, when I connect my iPod to the computer it says it's retrieving less songs than that, say 200 for example, which it doesn't do anyway. It just sits there not putting any songs onto my iPod and then comes up with a message that it doesn't work. Please someone help this is getting very annoying!

How about the problems in iTunes 5? Are they better now?
hello Mr Bond!
apologies for the late reply ... during the early weeks of the 5.0x launches, my email went down and i wasn't getting any notification of replies to my posts. at that stage, i was pretty much trapped in "Installations & Upgrades" so i couldn't get out to my other favorite forums to check for replies to any of my posts ... i'm currently working through a backlog of 500 unanswered email notifications, saw your post, and decided to take the opportunity to have a chat.
update from our last communications. traffic levels are certainly down in Installations and Upgrades. our primary concerns over there at the moment are probably the nastier versions of the QuickTime 1402, and the newer variations on "the software required for communicating ..." and "Ipod Service Error". I'm taking this (in a perverse way) as a good sign. these were rarer sorts of errors at the height of the madness. so when the discussions are being dominated by the rarer sorts of errors, it suggests we've got a good handle on the other 5.0.x installation problems.
the "general mood" of the forum is still a little more bitter than in the 4.9 days. but it has improved considerably over the past couple of weeks. (however, giving helpful and descriptive titles to posts and threads still seems to be a lost art over there ... i'm not entirely sure why.)
i am hoping that i shall
b not
exceed your tally of posts any time soon. i actually find it a little disturbing that i have passed both Buegie and StarDeb recently. back in my early days of posting, i used to wonder "how on earth does anyone accumulate 4000 posts?" ...
love, b

  • I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod Touch!

whenever i go onto iTunes and try to put songs onto my iPod using the click and drag method i get this message - 'the iPod "George's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to'. What can i do? Please, anyone, even a guess will do...
By the way i have the latest version of iTunes and the latest system thing on my Touch.

I have seen this article listed on many requests for help. I have tried these fixes but the iTouch will get about 200 songs into the sync and then will give the same message. I have successfully synced the iTouch to my laptop (Vista system)but that is not the primary computer for the touch. Are there any other ideas/solutions?

  • Putting songs onto my iPod, but when I go to play them, they aren't there.

Recently I've been having problems putting songs onto my iPod Touch. I'll put the songs onto my iPod through iTunes, and it shows that they are on my iPod and everything is legit, but when I leave and go to play them on my iPod, the songs aren't there and nowhere to be found. When I plug my iPod back into iTunes and view all of my music, it shows that the songs are on my iPod, however, when I double-click them, and exclamation mark pops up beside the name and they don't play. This doesn't happen with every song I put on, just select ones, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • I can't put songs in my ipod

i can't put songs in my ipod
    the song are already mp3

Are you getting any error messages? How is your iPod set to update? If you are trying to drag songs to it make sure it's in manual update mode and not set automatically update.
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • I can't put songs onto my new iPod Nano

I previously had a 30G iPod but replaced it with an 8G nano and now I can't put any songs from iTunes onto my new iPod. I have over 10G in my library and thought it would be as easy as clicking a button to deselect all songs and then selecting only the ones I now want to add into my iPod.
When I attach the nano to a USB, I get a welcome message saying I can do 1 of 2 things and then I hit "continue" then this message comes up that iTunes is accessing the store and that doesn't go away.
I am not sure what to do...Please help!

Hey there Shea 9! I'd recommend taking a look at the following article
The New User's Guide to iPod Nano I linked you directly to step 3 to fill your iTunes and iPod with music.
If you have any other problems try and be a little more specific as to what you are trying to do or what kind of error message you get.

  • How can i put songs from my ipod into my itunes library?

I want to sort out all mu music on my ipod and start fresh, but i want to keep all my music. Is there a way of putting music from my ipod into my iTunes library? I understand that if there is music on my ipod then i mustve put it on there from the library but i dont think i did! It's just not there! all i need to do is transfer it from my ipod to my itunes library Pls help. Ta.

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your iPod connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod.
If you had Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading a song from the iTunes store direct with your iPod, the song would be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod with iTunes after doing so.
Manually managing music and videos is manual all the way.

  • Can you put documents onto an ipod classic ?

At present I create documents in Pages and print them on index cards for studying. Is there a way to create a document that can be downloaded onto an Ipod classic to be read on the screen?
    <Post Relocated by Moderator>

Export the documents to plain text and then follow the instructions in this article. Only 4000 characters of a note and 1000 notes total will be displayed on the iPod.

  • I can't put songs on my iPod mini

When i plug my iPod mini into the computer an error bubble pops up in the bottom right corner of my screen saying that the destination of the file is invalid. I have tried everything and have tried putting the songs on my iPod multiple times and i'm not getting anywhere. The songs i have bought from the music store have not been used 5 times yet and there are 397 mbs left on my ipod, so it is not a memory problem. Please help!

You are following the steps as listed here?
    Manual Transfer.

  • I can't put videos onto my iPod

I have the videos in a play list called videos, and when i try to upload them, it says upload complete but when i go to find them on my iPod or in my list of songs on my iPod in iTunes, they aren't there. I'm doing everything the manuals say to do but they won't go. and when i try to convert the selection for my iPod it gives me an error message and when i try it again i get this message that iTunes has experienced an error and has to be closed.

Try posting in the iTunes for Windows area. You'll be more likely to get a quick and accurate answer there than you will here in the iTunes for Macintosh forum. Good luck.

  • Can't load songs onto new Ipod

Can someone please help me. I had to return my Ipod and get a new one due to it being faulty. Now when I try to load my music onto the new one it will not copy all of my songs. Any idea on how to get this done?

    hi Sherry!
Now when I try to load my music onto the new one it will not copy all of my songs.
does the synch seem to go perfectly successfully, but some songs just don't transfer? if so, try the advice given here:
Scott Patrie, "iTunes won't transfer purchased music to iPod", 07:24pm Oct 7, 2004 CDT
but if you're getting an error message, or your connection seems to quit after a while, please describe the situation in a bit more detail. (include any error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • How can i put songs onto my Itunes?

My IPod and IPad were synced to my home computer. Itunes was just erased from the computer. I just got a mac and authorized it, but it only transferred my purchases and I have a large amount of songs from cd's. I want to upgrade the software on my devices without losing my songs or documents. How can I do this?

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone/ipod/ipad.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your computer?

  • I can't put songs onto my iphone!

I downloaded this ringtune maker app and followed the instructions to sync/save them to my phone, it ended up clearing all my songs from my phone and didn't even add the ring tunes. Now when I am trying to re-add the songs, it won't let me put any on??! I restored my phone setting and still nothing. What do I do?

Yes.  You could subscribe to iTunes Match, described here:

    Definitely.

  • Can I load songs onto my ipod nano (7G) from the cloud without downloading it to my PC?

I just bought a 7G nano.  All of my songs are in the cloud.  My computer has little space for my large collection of music, podcasts, and videos.  I just bought a couple of albums and they went directly to my ipod when I synced.  The rest of my library, however, was left in the cloud and didn't make it to my ipod.  The only way I can tell to transfer my music from the cloud to my ipod is to download it from the cloud to my PC.  Is there a way to bypass my PC and go directly to my ipod?

You will need that library copied from the old computer. If not, then you can take a look at this in getting 3rd party software to recover your library from the iPod. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Can't Download Songs Onto New Ipod Nano

I have had Itunes on my computer for 1-2 years and use it with my Ipod Shuffle & my brother's Ipod Mini & have no problems. I just bought an Ipod Nano & am having trouble with it. The instruction manual I received with it does not help me @ all. I received one CD with it & ran the only setup file from the CD that I could fine & it acted like it installed ok.
I updated Itunes today to the latest version.
When I plug the nano up to my computer using the USB cable, it shows on the ipod screen that it is connected, and a box pops up on my computer that asks me what I want to do, but it does not give me an option to open Itunes.
When I open Itunes manually (with the nano connected), it shows no recognition of the nano.
I tried to drag songs directly to the nano file (under the "E" drive) & the computer showed the songs downloaded under the file, but the nano still showed no songs on it.
Any Suggestions???!! I'm lost..Thanks so much!!
