I can't quit mavericks install
Hi all, thanks in advance for any help/advice
Last night I attempted to install Mavericks onto an external HDD. It failed half way through due to an error with the HDD but now I can't quit the installer. When I restart the system (removing the external HDD) it keeps booting back up into the installer - even when I select to quit it. I can't unmount the installer image as disk utility tells me that it's in use. When I choose to reboot using the regular system HD inside my mac, it still boots into the installer. Help!
Thanks! that solved it. Has also oddly speeded up my startup time. Sorry, I clicked 'This helped me' and now cant choose 'this solved my question'.

Finder can't quit since installing Lion
Hi
Ever since installing Loin on my iMac 27 inch, late 2009- 3.06 GHz intel Core 2 Duo, I have numerous 'skitchy' problems that were not previously there.
The most frustrating is upon shutdown, finder gives an error message stating that it can't quit due to processes running. All apps are closed at the root. This never happened before Loin. Any ideas.
Included is as run log from activity monitor at the time of the error message.
Thank you for your help.

Another method of Force Quitting Finder is opening Activity Monitor (Applicaitons - Utilities - Activity Monitor) and Force Quitting it there. I'm not sure this will work but it's worth a try. When you can I'd re-install Lion from the restore partion.
Thanks I will re-install Loion when I get a chance.

Os x mavericks install frozen, can't quit
Tried installing os x mavericks onto my early 2009 macbook. I am stuck at the install screen with a message saying "completing installation... your computer will restart automatically" but after waiting here for a long time nothing has happened. I can't quit either because it doesn't give me a startup disk to select. I'm just so confused because I just received this product in the mail last night and every time I reboot or try to turn it off I am brought back to the install screen. Please help
1. Reset your computer’s PRAM
2. The installation may have gotten as far as creating a Recovery partition. If so, you can start up from it by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Reinstall OS X.
3. If the above steps fail, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Very likely if you bought the machine used, as you apparently did. -
I have Maverick installed and my mail, Safari, Mac App Store, and iMessages apps all say that they quit unexpectedly and will not open. Any suggestions?

Restore from the backup you had prior to installing Mavericks.
However, the upgrade should not have altered your partition scheme. Did your erase and format the drive prior to upgrading? -

I cannot down load Yosemite from the App Store. It keeps saying there is an error. I have Mavericks installed now. Can I download Yosemite anywhere else besides the App Store?
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select
/var/log ▹ appstore.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, click the Clear Display button in the toolbar of the Console window and then try the installation again.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -

If you are trying to see if you can track your mac but nothing comes up, be sure the mac is connected to wifi, not just using ethernet cable to a modem.

Trying to update adobe flash, keep getting 'quit dashboard client'. Everytime I try to, it pops back up. Even after going to activity monitor and force quitting. What is it and how can I quit it so I can install this update??
Restart the computer from Apple menu.
When restart dialog box appears, uncheck the box beside
"Reopen windows when logging back in". -

I want to download the Mavericks installer so I have a backup installer that does not require the internet. Although, the App Store button allows me to download, I get a message that Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.
Computer is late 2013 retina MBP 13" with lots of memory.
My OS is 10.9.1 (13B3116) currently running.
Is the App Store version of Mavericks too old (jan 16) for my rMBP?
RickJudging by the build number, it appears you have a special build of Mavericks installed and the App Store version (13B42) won't work with your computer.
Kappy - if I try to download Mavericks I get the message below, so apparently I can down load it again?
I also have a copy of the installer in my Applications folder, although it is in a folder. -

Has it occurred to you that CS3 isn't compatible with Mavericks? Try using CS9 or 10.
Sorry that's untrue. I have Photoshop CS3 running on 10.9.
CS9 or 10? Now you are just making stuff up.
Adobe claim CS3 will work, with a minor issue…

The Adobe updater fails to work for me.
I was prompted to install J6RE which came from Apple, check the Apple support downloads http://support.apple.com/downloads/#java%206
Sorry can't provide a direct link, it was just a dumb 'You need … please click install' dialog.
I think the 10.9 java updater is installing version 7. -

Before trying to answer, I wish to check if you are really running under 10.4.11 and in this case, which is the exact application's version in use.
