I can't receive calls on my iPhone 4!!

I can dial out and connect, but when someone calls me it goes straight to voicemail. I reset everything out of pure frustration!!  Heeeelp!! 

What did your carrier say when you reported the problem to them?

    I see that you have a question about some of the new Continuity features in your devices. The situation you are describing should be able to work, as long as you are using the same iCloud account across all devices and all devices are updated to iOS 8 or Yosemite.     I called my operator and they said they would check....
    In fact the next day and for the following 5 days my phone went fine! No missed call mesagges and the phone rang any time i called it from my husband's phone.
    Today at about 11:00 am  i received a msg notifying me i had 6 missed calls
    At this point i think it should be the operator... orrrr.....otherwise i guess a software update would solve the issue

    IPHONE 5:  can't receive calls and random error messages, such as "could not activate cellular data network" and "no connection - network unavailable, please connect to wifi or cellular network."  This occurs even when signal strength or wifi is operational, and it does not matter whether wifi is on or off.  ATT went through the standard protocol - resetting network, resetting sim card, etc.  No changes.  Other phones working fine in same region with same carrier.  Apple's solution is to restore software, but haven't gone there yet.  Anyone successfully addressed this/these issues?   

    I should point out that it worked when the iPhone was set back to factory settings, but when restored with the backup, data/internet no longer works again, and I get the "Could not activate cellular data network" error message yet again.

    Those are all carrier features, so contact your cell phone provider.

    I can't make or receive calls on my IPhone 4.  There's nothing but dead air on both ends and then it freezes.  If I can answer a call, it lasts for a few seconds then gets staticky and cuts out.  I took it to Verizon and they couldn't get it to work either.

    If Verizon, who actually had your phone in hand, was unable to get it to work, what makes you think that we users here, who have no access to your phone, could help?  You need to bring your phone to the experts who can actually run diagnostics on the phone, and that is Apple.

  • URGENT: iphone 4 hang, can't power down, can't receive calls, can't do anything

    I've been using my iphone 4 for more since I got it when it came out 1.5 yrs ago with hardly any problems.
    I updated to OS5 few weeks back and was totally Ok until today, I started my gmail, and the phone froze and the swirling symbol is going next to my full WiFi Access and ATT 2 bars signal strength.
    It's been more than 30 mnts, and can't receive calls, can't power it down, and nothing I pressed or did seems to affect the device.
    What do I do?

    Well, first, you can't revert back to OS 4.x, and second, a search of the forum will quickly show you that this could happen with 4.x, 3.x, 2.x and ever the original iPhone Classic.
    And don't think of the iPhone as a phone; it's a very powerful pocket sized computer that can also make phone calls. And it can suffer all of the things that happen to any computer, like the Windows Blue Screen of Death and the Mac OS X kernel panic (which is what happened). It happens when memory gets full (RAM, not storage) or when one app steps on the memory of another. You can minimize the chance of it happening by turning the phone off occasionally, which shuts down all of the apps.

    no what I meant was I have read through what information it gave me when I asked the question and other than checking my wifi or checking my iMessage is on or checking my number and email address was correct I didn't think that the information applied to my specific problem so that is why I asked the question? I asummed it would be something simple and silly that I am doing wrong. I have not spoken to any technicians, I am new to this site and you can probably tell I'm not that knowledgable with technology so I apologise if I have put you out, I don't feel your rudeness or your sarcasim towards me was necessary.  Don't worry I will go into an apple shop and ask instead.
