  • Can I open the Mail app without configuration an email address?

I'm trying to open a .eml file, which seems possible in the Mail app.  However, I can't open the Mail app without configuration an email account.  I don't have an email account to configure; just want to open the file.  Or, let's suppose, I just wanted to browse the interface?  How to avoid the account setup part?

Just enter anything short & plausible in as few fields as you can get away with : '[email protected]' works here, you'll get a brief 'not responding' or such at each stage, but it does allow you to use Mail.

  • How can I get my mail app to sync from my mac to iPhone, I don't have the 'info' option in iTunes?

How can i get my mail app to sync from my mac to iphone? i dont have the 'info' option in itunes!
I have created files within the mail app and want them to be the same on my mac and iphone.

You need a mail server that supports this then. Hotmail premium I believe does, but the free version does not. Gmail supports it, and any ISP that offers IMAP supports this capability. iCloud definitely supports it, so if you create a free iCloud email account and switch your primary email to it you would have this capability.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • How can I PIMP my Mail app? Any cool stuff I can add? Any customizable stuf

    Hey Folks.
Just wondering what type of things I can do to my Mail app to PIMP it out! Anything you guys would recommend such as customize some stuff, any cool add ons? Any new visual layouts and stuff like that?
    Let me know plz.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Randy. appreciate it.
Orange - well it all depends on what you consider "PIMP" - maybe the world's only 7 star hotel? Or maybe, a camel worth nearly 4 000 000$ (check it out online, a camel was sold for that much)... so depends what your perspective on PIMP really is

  • Can't open the mail app

    hello
The problem appeared two days ago is that I can't open my mail app. everything was fine and functional. Now I double click on the icon and it does not respond. it receives mail and I can see push notifications on the mail icon but when  I try to open it is no use. OS Y 10.10.2 (14C1514)

after some efforts I realized that it is possible to open mail application thru View category heading down to full screen exposure but still this is problematic and I am not able to open it directly by clicking on the mail icon. When mail app is opened in full screen size I only have red and green lights highlighted and yellow is disabled.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Restart the computer. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • I can't open my mail app. It appears on the screen and immediately disappears before i can do anything.

I can't open my mail app. It appears on the screen but disappears immediately. What can I do ?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

  • I can't use the Mail app after updating to 8.0.2

I can add my Gmail account to my phone just fine.  It adds my calendar, my contacts and my notes with no problem.  But when I open the Mail app, I get a blank screen.  It stays blank for about 15-20 seconds and then closes automatically.
Also, there is no longer an option when setting up an email account to only sync a week or a month or whatever.  The calendar has an option to sync events in a certain time frame, but the option that was in mail is gone.  So it's trying to sync my entire gmail account.  Perhaps the size is the problem, IDK.
I need to be able to check email.  What is the problem?

I turned gmail off and turned on iCloud email.  It won't load either.

  • Mail app on iPad2 crashed after trying to send doc from goodnotes. How can i restore the mail app?

Hi,  I have a problem with my mail app: after exporting a rather big pdf (10mb) from GoodNotes to email (which tried to open an email in the built-in mail app, the mail app crased and only shows a white screenwhen opening it. Settings for the mail app does not respond either and every app that tries to open an email (e.g. Goodnotes, or browser opening  a mailTo link, freezes when trying to open a mail. As mail is a built in app, i can also not delete it ... Anybody has a hint for me? Many thanks for your help!!  Greets Sven

First of all quit the mail app and all of the apps that have frozen. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the mail app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Close the other apps the same way. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
What I would try next is to delete the email on the server in your web mail account using Safari or another browser. Then when you go back to the mail app - if it opens ok - and the if mesaage is still there in the inbox - swipe on the mesaage - left to right - in the list on the left side - and hopefully the red delete button will pop up. Hit delete to remove it from the inbox. Do the same thing when you go to your trash folder in that email account - swipe the message to delete it.

    Hi af32,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand how concerning it must be to not be able to open the Mail application. In this situation I would read over the first small article attached.
OS X Mavericks: If you can’t open an app
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13849
If you still cannot open Mail, it may be necessary to reinstall OS X.

  • How can I disable the Mail app completely?

Hi, I have an iMac running OS X v. 10.5.6 and do not want to go through the Mail app for my e-mail. I never opened the program on my own, but the app keeps opening on its own and asking for me to set it up. I tried to set it to manual opening, but it would still pop up on a daily basis.
At one point, I logged in using an old Yahoo account, thinking that this would solve the problem, but it still opened up on its own daily.
I've done everything in Preferences I can think of. I even tried removing the app completely, but I would get a pop-up asking where the Mail app went. When I brought it back, the same issues came up.
    I have Mail v. 3.5. Help!

There are many good email applications available as alternatives to Apple's Mail.
My own preference is Eudora but Thunderbird looks pretty good too.
There is no obligation to use Apple's Mail.
I don't get any warnings telling me I have to do anything with it. I can't understand what these warnings would be.
Try opening the Mail application ---> preferences - and set the application to check for mail "manually" i.e. only when you tell it to. Which could be never.

  • When I create a user, appears Event ID 3001 and can't recive e-mails

    Hi all,
I hope can help me with this issue.
When I create an user in Exchange, the following logs appears:
Failed to generate email addresses based on template "CCMAIL: at MEXDOMAIN01". Additional message: "Failed to find the address type object in Active Directory for address type "CCMAIL:AMD64".".
Failed to generate email addresses based on template "MS:PRODUCTOSF/MEXDOMAIN0". Additional message: "Failed to find the address type object in Active Directory for address type "MS:AMD64".".
The account behavior is: I can send e-mails but I can´t recive.
    Any idea?
    Thanks, Best regards

Thread is a bit old, but I do not see ANY value in the entry for "disabledGatewayProxy" - it shows "Value <not set>"
I am seeing the same or extremely similar error as the original poster, but I DO see an attribute value in "gatewayProxy"
    "gatewayProxy" attribute has those values:
    CCMAIL:at [our Exchange domain]
    MS:[whatever-Exchange-name]
    Here are the errors:
Failed to generate e-mail addresses based on template "MS:***name-0*/***-name1*". Additional message: "Failed to find the address type object in Active Directory for address type "MS:AMD64".".
Failed to generate e-mail addresses based on template "CCMAIL: at ***Our-Mail-Domain*". Additional message: "Failed to find the address type object in Active Directory for address type "CCMAIL:AMD64".".
So, Gen Lin, did you mention the wrong entry, because my "disabledGatewayProxy" attributed is empty; but "gatewayProxy" has those values you mentioned. We did, at one time, have Exchange 2003; way back many years ago; it could be
something Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom, forgot to clean up, when we removed Exchange 2003.
So, is it safe to remove those values from the attribute named "gatewayProxy?"
We currently have one Exchange 2013 server - only one "test mailbox" on it, and I am seeing those errors in the application event log.
We still have 2 active Exchange 2010 mailbox servers - these changes will not "break" our 2010 Exchange servers, right?
Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
