I can't recover sent emails

When I look for emails in the "Sent" mailbox, they are all marked with a message that indicates the mailbox is overstuffed. I have reviewed a number of previous emails to try and recover them. So far I have checked the contents of Sent Messages.mbox and confirmed that it is large (over 2GB). I have moved it to the Desktop, and deleted the documents other than sent messages in that folder, copied it and then placed it in the Mailbox folder under User/Library/Mail/Mailbox then restarted Mail app. No success. I tried again, this time renaming the file Archives. There is a folder named Archives now under Mailboxes, but nothing in it. What more can I do to try and recover its contents?

  • Can I recover sent emails from an iPhone 4s in my new iPhone 6

I upgraded to a new iPhone 6 (from a 4s) yesterday and everything has transferred over pretty well.  There were some initial problems with my mail set-ups but I have re-entered passwords and can receive mail.  The question I have is whether the mail messages I sent using the iPhone 4s can be viewed in the new iPhone.  All of the  messages that were in my inboxes transferred, but the Sent Items folder only contains messages sent using the new iPhone.  Am I able to retrieve them or are they lost forever?

Mail in Outlook the program, if accepting the defaults, should have created an Archive folder. You should find this in the folder list on left side of Outlook. If you were using a POP account, then mail sent by the phone is not synced to the folders in Outlook. This would change with an IMAP account, as explained earlier. The action you describe on the phone, where the only folder to come over from the backup being the Inbox, is POP action. The sent folder is device (actually mail client) specific. If you continue to use a POP account and want to see sent mail in both locations, you would need to set up your mail to default to sending a Bcc to yourself. That setting is available in the iPhone easily, you need to look a little closer to find it in Outlook.

  • Getting recovered "sent" emails "Sort by To" to work?

I recovered my sent email from Time Machine, however, when I try to "Sort by To", they are sorted by my name.  "Sort by From" shows them sorted by my name as well (which makes sense).  How can I get "Sort by To" to show the names to which they were sent?

  • Can I recover an email account?

I accidentally deleted an email account with critical messages. HOw can I recover the account or find the emails which I assume are still available somewhere on the computer?

Deleting a mail account causes all your mail stored in that account’s mailboxes to be removed from the computer as well, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected. For IMAP-type accounts, this is not a problem because mail is stored on the server. If you deleted a POP account, however, your mail has certainly been wiped out from the computer, not just moved somewhere.
To prevent that from happening, you should have moved your mail to custom “On My Mac” mailboxes instead of leaving it in the account’s mailboxes. Actually, using the account’s Inbox and Sent mailboxes for archiving purposes is a bad idea regardless.
If the POP account was configured to leave the messages on the server for some time, setting up the account again would cause any messages still on the server to be downloaded again, just like for IMAP accounts, but this would only work for received mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
If the messages are not on the server and you don’t have a backup (which you should have made before doing something like that), you may try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • Can't read sent emails

    Hi
Whenever I open a message in my "sent" box I get the following message:
"The message from XYZ <email address> concerning “subject” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
My account is online and receiving and sending fine. I just can't read any emails I've sent.
    Any clues?

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
If you are running 10.3.9, as your information shows, then you have an overstuffed mailbox. See:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121837
If you are running Tiger (10.4.x) then it may be a different problem.
More info, please, perhaps before you attempt any fix.

  • Can't see sent emails on my blackberry

I can't see the sent emails on my blackberry when  I send them from Apple Mail. Its a corporate email account (uses exchange server.) It seems like a Mac related issue.
    Kind Regards,
    a.t.

What is your service provider and do you have an unlimited data plan?
Other than that, I'd check your browser settings. Make sure your Browser push is on and set to allow or auto (in advanced options from the options menu on your home screen), and check your browser options while in the browser (click the menu button, scroll down to options, select Browser Configuration, and make sure you have Support JavaScript checked and make sure you have Support Embedded Media checked.
If that doesn't help, I'd wait for a reply from another user here or contact your service provider's BB support.
Hope I helped. Good luck hun!

  • MFE on E71 can not sync sent emails from PC in to ...

    Please help!
when I sync my email using mfe everything seems to be ok from the calendars to email, except that I can not see the emails that I have sent from my laptop on my phone.
I can see emails that I have sent from my phone on my laptop after I have synced.
Please can someone help me to be able to synced sent items from PC to phone.
    Thanks

    Hello and Welcome.
The current version of MfE (2.9.xx) only support syncing the Inbox so you will not see the sent items.
Version 3 of MfE is due - sometime - and this is rumoured to support multiple folders.

  • Can't see sent emails

I have four email accounts (POP) in Apple Mail and cannot view any of the sent emails for of the addresses. It shows there is over a gig of emails in the folder, but will not load them. The other email addresses can show all sent messages individually, athough non load if trying to view all account at the same time.
Is this due to the size or corruption?
Would appreciate some clever answer I haven't though of. Please.
    Keith
(PS - Yes, old Mail 1.2.5 and OS still be used)

I'm not sure if this applies to the version of Mail you are using, but you should try to rebuild each tent Mailbox. If you go into the Sent mailbox for each individual account, and then choose to Rebuild from the Mailbox menu (it might be in a different place in your version of Mail, sorry). Do that for each sent mailbox for each account and that should solve the problem.

  • HT201269 How can i transfer sent email from my old iphone to the new one?

Trying to figure out how to transfer sent email from my old iphone 4 to my new iphone 5s.  Anyone have any idea?

If you have a POP account, this will not happen. If you have an IMAP or Exchange account signing in as the other poster stated will work. So, it depends on what type of account you have.

  • How can I recover my Emails and Sent Items for an Accountthat was wiped from my computer?

I had to complete a system restore as my computer failed. This resulted in my account being wiped from the computer, alomg with any files relating to it. I have consequently downloaded Thurderbird again and reinputted my details, whih has resulted in me gaining emails for the past month. However I have not got access to the emails I received for the 6mths prior to that time, any of my sent items, or any of the sub-folders I created and their contents. If anyone has any offerings of help in recovering these I would massively appreciate it!
    Thank you,
    Ian

what mail provider? can you still access your mail in their web mail? Do you have backups?

  • How can I get sent email from my BB reflected in sent mail on Gmail?

I use Gmail, custom Google Apps email, and a Sprint BlackBerry email. Strangly, if I send email from the GApps email address, I can later see that when I log in and view the Sent Mail folder. I don't see that happening with Gmail. Is there anything special I need to do to fix it?
"If it ain't broke, shoot it with a .44 until it is. Then get it replaced."

On your device at options > advanced > Service Books, delete the two instances of that gmail address, and then, With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, open your email setup or setup wizard on the device and delete that gmail address.
Then, set it back up again, same location.
You should notice a change now and the reconcile of your gmail sent messages to the server.

  • Can't see sent emails written on my iPhone on my laptop email account.

    Hello,
I'm guessing I have a function turned off or something. Whenever I write an email on my ipnone 4, said sent message doesn't show up on my Mac Book Pro mail program. I can only see the message I sent on my iPhone. Both accounts are on my "Me" account. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Are you using the default messaging application that came with the iPhone?

  • How can I recover old emails from previous versions of Apple Mail?

I bought a new MacBook Pro Retina display in late 2013. I loaded all my applications and data from Time Machine since my old Mac had died. Unfortunately, the migration program didn't recover most of my email files. In one of the discussions here, it said this was a known problem, and I assumed my old emails were gone forever. For the most part, this wasn't a huge problem, but recently, I had cause to want maybe a dozen or so of those emails, so I went back to try to find a solution.
I did find a discussion here that told how to locate the old mbox file in Time Machine, copy it to the desktop, then import it to Mail. I was able to recover the mbox files without any difficulty, but when I try to import them (using "Files in mbox format"), I get a message saying, "No valid mbox files were found."
Most of the recovered mbox files are hierarchical (i.e., the mbox file shows as a folder in Mail), but I get the same message whether I try to import at the folder level or the mailbox level.
Any ideas? Could Text read the contents of the mbox files?

  • How can I get sent emails to NOT appear in the Sent mailbox?  Thanks!

    OS X 10.8.3
    Mail 6.3 (1503)

    mbusa6,
I agree with what you are saying. He made an assumption without getting all the data.
You can start with this applescript. She could select the mail that was sent and run this applescript and file them in another mailbox for her to later individually file. Maybe that will help organize it better.
    Good luck.
    tell application "Mail"
              set the_selection to (get selection)
if class of the_selection is not list then
                        return
else if (count of the_selection) is 0 then
                        return
else if class of item 1 of the_selection is not message then
                        return
              end if
              set target_mailbox to "To File"
              try
                        get mailbox target_mailbox
              on error
      activate
set the_mailboxes to name of mailboxes
set target_mailbox to (choose from list the_mailboxes) as string
if target_mailbox = "false" then return
              end try
      move the_selection to mailbox target_mailbox
    end tell
