I can't remember my apple id or password that was used to start my ipad

i am trying to reset my nieces ipad but we cant remember the apple id or password that wasd used to start it up when we 1st got it,how do we bypass this or reset it?

You can't bypass it and you can't reset it. You will have to have that ID and password in order to proceed.

If you don't have the Apple ID and password, how did you get Mountain Liomn in the first place? Without the Apple ID and password, you'll need to buy it to download it.

This is not Apple we are all users here
You will need to obtain the original Apple id ,that is the only way to unlock it
Speak to the original owner .If you cannot it is likely the iPhone was stolen and the activation lock is preventing use by a third party that is you

Is it possible that you or someone who knows your iCloud sign on went into the Find My iPhone app and erased your device via iCloud? Because that is what that message is saying.
Have you tried to sign on with your Apple ID and password?
Was it online prior to this incident happening?

Upgraded to iPhone 6, cannot get into iCloud. "The password you entered is incorrect" even though I used the same Apple ID and password that I used to log into this session. My wife has the same issue with her iPhone 6 as well.

If you can verify the serial number of an apple product registerd in your name, and can verify your apple id, and possibly some other info (credit card on file is a good one) you can call 1-800-APL-CARE. The tech should be able to verify this info, and if so can transfer you to account security.

Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID, tap the ID shown, sign out, sign back in using the alternate ID.

My daughter can't remember her Apple ID and for some reason Apple can't find her ID. It's suggesting she create a new Apple ID if she does that what happens? She's worried she will lose the items she has purchased.
