  • What to do if iTunes can't restore my iPod (error 1433)

My iPod works fine, but I am unable to add new songs to it. I followed all troubleshooting directions but the message says there's an error in restoring (1433) and it won't load on my computer.
I'd buy a new one but this still works, it seems to be more of an Apple software issue, as in they are weeding out older iPods even if they still work.
Please let me know if there's anything else that I can try.
    Thanks!

@ Elliot, well the iPod works fine, it just isn't acknowledged by the computer and I get an error that isn't mentioned in the Apple troubleshooting section, so I have to assume that it's been weeded out. I've used Apple products since 1990, I've spent a lot of money on software due to upgrades that weed out other versions, sometimes too quickly. I was told that it wouldn't last forever, so I guess I buy a new one. Is there an iPod classic model that's better than most, without spinning parts? I have 30 GB on this one and that seems like plenty, but I erased a lot of the CDs that I copied onto my computer after I copied the music to my iPod--wasn't thinking, I guess. We won this iPod, so it's been great but I think the prices are a bit high for something that breaks after a few years and there should be something between the Nano and the iPod with five times the memory. I back everything up, but worry about the day the back up drive keels over. I'll try to restore it on another computer, but it's most likely time for a new one if these don't usually last as long as I've had mine.
@ jk_baller23 YES, I spent two hours or so trying everything. But I see the messages in past forums are from 2008, so I guess I am supposed to be happy that it didn't do this one or two years after we got it.
    Thanks for your help.

I replaced the hard drive, motherboard, and battery but now can not restore my Ipod 5th gen?  Error code 1416, any help?

When I did a Google search on "1416 error ipod 5th," there is some discussion that the earlier version of the logic board only accepted 30 and 60 GB drives (or words to that effect), but the later "5.5" version did allow larger capacity drives.  If that info is true, the question is, do you have a compatible combination of logic board and hard drive?

  • I can't restore my ipod touch

I can't restore my ipod touch, it says: error 21

Use the following steps to place your device into recovery mode. If the device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB cable to iPhone, the device should power on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

"This error typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, this error may be a hardware issue..."

  • I can not update my Ipod Error 3194

I can not update my Ipod Error 3194

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

Try resetting the iPod with it still connected to your PC. To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together for a couple of seconds until the Apple logo appears.
If still no luck, make sure there is no tick mark next to "enable disk use" from under your iPod's Summary tab in iTunes. Others have been able to resolve the issue by playing a song or two in their library and then reattempted to restore it.

If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. • I can't restore my ipod nano 5g

I can't restore my ipod nano 5g, I follow all the steps of the iTunes program but when the process of restore is finish it starts all over again saying that an Ipod in process of restore is connected and to start using it I have to restore it... I can't use any of the bottoms of the Ipod, but the lock one does work. Please help me; I've proved to update the iTunes, to change the USB port and also to reset the computer, nothing seems to work...

The folder that you need to delete, iPod Software Updates, should be in this location on your computer:
    C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
If it is not there, then you may want to try searching for this folder, in case your iTunes/Apple software decided to place its software updates for iPod folder in another location.
Go to the "START" menu, and select "Search". Select "All files and folders", and make sure that you are searching over your entire drive. Type "ipod software updates" in the blank, and click on OK (or hit Return) to begin searching.
Any folders of that sort of kind showing up in odd locations, or does your search return nothing?
Also, by the way, you are getting this exact error message, right?:
The iPod "[your iPod's name]" could not be updated because the firmware file could not be found.
If it says something different, then quote what the error message exactly says.
