I can't scan documents into Acrobat 9

Our users all have new computers with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I seem to be having problems with scanning. When a user tries to scan to pdf by selecting create pdf from scanner it never seems to work. I have tried a million different settings and have the latest updates with the latest drivers. Here is a list of problems the users are experiencing
1. Scan is fast but the transfer process is extremely slow.
2. It will scan all pages but only shows 1 in Acrobat.
3. After scanning a couple a pages it will stop and say that scanning was canceled. Even though the user never canceled.
All the sytems are the same. Core i7, 8Gb ram, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
We are using HP MFP 3015, 3050, and 1319.

As far as I know (I am a user, not Adobe) Acrobat does not itself scan... it uses a TWAIN driver to communicate with the scanner (the scanner's software?) and that twain driver (the scanner's software?) is what is actually doing the work and passing the image over to Acrobat
Since Win7 is still new, my GUESS is that you need a newer twain driver and/or software provided by the scanner company... this would be especially true for 64bit Windows

Here's the problem in more detail.
I am a physician and I already have the ability to incorporate paper-based
documents into an electronic health record (EHR) by scanning them and
saving them as PDFs. The documents are paper patient encounter forms with
a different box or 'pane' for each category of data. Each box has a fixed
location on the paper form.
There are three situations, however, where I want to have the option to
overwrite certain boxes of the PDF with data generated by methods other
than scanning.
1) Insert text macros with variable fields using the electronic health
record's software.
2) Insert a drawing available as a pre-existing JPG or generated by using a
tablet.
3) Insert text generated using Dragon Naturally Speaking.
For efficient office workflow, in all three cases the text or image to be
inserted into the box or 'pane' in the PDF needs to be generated while I am
still seeing the patient -- that is -- before the paper form has been
scanned and converted to a PDF.
The sticky note tool is one option, but I would want to be able to modify
the default size of the sticky note so that it corresponded exactly to the
size of the box it was 'overwriting.' I can't figure out how to do this?
Could it be done using scripting?
Furthermore, I would want the sticky notes to automatically display when
the PDF was opened, so that a hover would close rather than open them. This
sticky note method would have the advantage of allowing the user to toggle
back and forth between inserted data and any original handwritten text.
Any thoughts?

I would like to implement SAP Records management involving the scanning of documents into the RMS. I have the following questions.
1. Can the scanned documents be attached to a record automatically (is it possible that during scanning an event to create a record would be triggered automatically and the person responsible for the scanning will just have to enter the detail)
2. Is there a recommended scanning software that works well with SAP Records management stystem that i can use to scan documents directly into SAP RMS or dpes SAP have a scanning software that works with RMS.

It's really possible. I don't know if any scan software can do it, but "Kofax Capio" can.

I scanned document to acrobat 9 standard and I can not see it to review.

I scanned a document to acrobat 9 sandard.
When I went to review it the pages were grey and I could not see what I had scanned in.
What could I have done wrong?
Or, is a setting on acrobat set wrong from prior use ( I recently reinstalled due to a virus in my computer).

The image that is the output of a scanner is controlled by the scanner software not Acrobat.
Something to try. Configure your scanner to process out an image at 300 ppi and as a Black and White image.
Output to a TIFF (from the scanner).
Launch Acrobat - use the create PDF from file feature to 'pick up' the TIFF and create the PDF.

Can I scan documents with Image Capture?

I can no longer scan documents with my HP printer now that I have Maverick. I can scan pics with Image Capture. Is there any way to scan documents with image capture or with some other software?

Don't feel bad you are not alone. I have a HP photosmart C4780. Since upgrading to Mavericks it has been difficult to use the scan feature except via image scan. I spent well over a month on the HP forums trying to discern whether or not new drivers were being developed and essentially got the run around. Very crappy service from HP. I'll not purchase one of their products again. It appears that my all in one (which I brought through the Apple Store) is obsolete. Anyone got any advice. I'm contemplating seeing how many pieces it will shatter into upon being launched from my window.

Convert scanned document into PDF

I have PDF Pack and am trying to convert a scanned document to PDF and ultimately to MS Word. How is this done?

If the ultimate goal is a Word document, I would recommend against the additional step of converting to PDF first, if possible. What scanning software are you working with? Does it save in a format that Word can open?
If you don't have access to the scanning software, and saving to PDF is your only option, then you would use ExportPDF (part of Adobe PDF Pack) to convert the PDF file Word. (To convert the file to PDF, choose Create PDF on the menu bar when you're logged in to PDF Pack at https://cloud.acrobat.com.)

Can't scan document in color to my mac

Hi.
I've been trying to scan a Document in color to my Mac but it only scans it into BW.
I've already tried to go to Device/ Scan Setting/ Scan Task/ Dokument/Edit and then I should see a blue triangle. Well in my case I only have a grey triangle and if I press on it to make it bigger then obviousely Mode should come up and that's where I supposedly can change from BW to colors. Well, I don't have that option Mode therefor I can't change the color. It's driving me mad and I've been on it for about 5 hours. Could you please help me? Thank you, Jbl20

Due to an issue with Mavericks, a bit earlier versions of the HP Scan software does not display the scan settings as expected.
As of now I would suggest installing the software for a newer model, that should upgrade the HP Scan software to a newer version and then these settings will become available.
Be sure to check the HP Scan option while installing in order to upgrade the current software, once the software installation completes and you are prompted to select the device close the device setup utlility by selecting skip or exit:

Once you are done try scanning again andcheck if the issue been resolved, if it still persists go to HP Utility > San to Computer and edit the Scan Task, further options should become available now.

Scan documents into DMS

Hi experts.
Let me present the following question.
At the client there are a group of documents that arrive in paper format which must be afterwards scanned into to the legacy application.
It is intended to replace the legacy application with SAP DMS.
I haven't found any relevant documentation detailing how can a document be digitalized and sent into DMS, if it is even possible at all.
Does anyone knows of a solution for this?

Keep your document scanned.
Create a Document Info Records using transaction CV01N.
Then change the DIR using CV02N. You can attach your scanned document here and save into the content server.
You can also use BDC to update the documents if you have many scanned document that are to be updated.

How do I upload scanned documents into SharePoint?

Is there a way to automatically upload scanned documents from a scanner into SharePoint without the use of a third party tool? I was just thinking about this, but then couldn't figure out how the metadata piece of the scanned document would work. Has anyone
implemented anything like this? Or is there a blog that can be recommended? I have not been able to find anything that could point me in the right direction.

Several MFP manufacturers are releasing solutions for this. You should see what your reseller has to offer.
Personally, I'd recommend you try Udocx. It's designed to include metadata, OCR etc when scanning to SharePoint folders. There's more information on www.udocx.com/SharePoint

How can I scan directly into Ps CS4 on a Mac when Rosetta wont work?

I'm using a Mac Pro Quadcore with Snow Leopard version 10.6.8 and want to scan photos straight into Ps CS4 version 11.0.2 using a Canon Canoscan LIDE 100.
BUT when I go to Import there is no TWAIN option, there is only: Variable Data Sets (grayed out), Video Frames to Layers, Anti-Alised PICT, PICT Resources and Notes (grayed out).
I right click on Adobe Photoshop CS4 inside the Ps CS4 folder to bring up "Get Info" and click the check box that states "Open using Rosetta" BUT when I click open the Ps icon to open it Ps crashes straight away. I click "Reopen" and it crashes straight away. Un tick the Rosetta check box and Ps opens fine.
I assumed this was Apples problem because Rosettas is their program but after walking it through the Apple care operator and following his instructions to download a PowerPC version of VLC (which started up fine without doing a thing)to see if Rosetta was automatically installed, it worked fine, I was told that it's an Adobe problem. Urrrggghhh
Then I downloaded the TWAIN plugin and dropped it into the import-export folder and NOTHING!
The scanner works with Snow Leopards native Image Capture so it's not the scanner. Except that the scanner buttons dont seem to work when they used to on a MacBook. But here on the Mac Pro I cant find anything within the Ps menus that resembles "permission" to scan.
I need to do a lot of photo correction/remove blurred/restoration and read that it's better to scan the old photos straight into Ps to ensure no quality is lost during the scan. Regardless if this 100% true I still should be able to scan straight into Ps. I mean the CS4 package + Mac cost enough.
What is it that I'm doing wrong or missing here? Any help would be sooo appreciated!

Hi Mate - I'm using CS4 Extended Ps v11.0.2, according to the Adobe site photoshop instals a 32 bit version only. How can I find out exactly by checking out preferences etc? I'll have to go hunt out the box.

First I would suggest that you read the documentation about working with Active/X.
The online version is in the documentation section of Forms on OTN.
Then, you insert the scan.ocx into your form. you use the ole importer to create a pl/sql package to communicate with the ocx and you are ready to start calling methods such as scan etc...

New to Aperture - Can I scan directly into it?

Hi, everyone: I hope you can help me - I still do traditional black & white film photography and am going to get a Nikon Cool Scan V to scan in my negatives. I just purchased Aperture and am eager to use it, but don't see anything in the manual about scanning directly into the program (like I used to do with photoshop). Can someone please tell me if this is possible?
Otherwise, I guess the scanner will come with software and I'll just scan to that and tranfer to Aperture? Seems like a pain!!

A related thought - if you don't want to use ImageCapture, you could use something like Vuescan and just set up an Automator action on a hot-folder that you scan into.
The upshot - this should be pretty easy, similar to the tethered shooting options.
