I can't see my Canon MF4270 printer during setup!

I'm so sick of this printer! I've started school so you could say I'm in the middle of it all so I really need to start printing out papers/documents from my teachers.
I've had this printer for about 3 years now. It's always worked fine with my old laptop running Vista.
I have my iMac in a seperate room and I use my printer (connected to my router) as a network printer.
I went onto the Canon webpage for MF4270 series printers drivers, select my operating system as OSX 10.7 and downloaded the "Mac_UFII_V225_us_ENI.dmg".
I installed the drivers fine.
However after this I go to Settings -> Printings and Fax.
I wait and I wait, but my printer never shows up.
Is there anybody who could help me?

Canon has stated here that they currently have problems printing with the UFR2 v2.25 driver from Preview and TextEdit. The v2.25 driver was released before Lion and is regarded as an intermim solution until an official driver for Lion is released. In the meantime, if you need to print PDFs you can either open them in Safari or download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader X.

I can't see my Canon MG5220 printer... Initially I was getting "there is a communication error" so I rebooted everything, reset the printing system, reinstalled the driver and still NO luck! I see no printers available in the Print & Scan area. If I click "+" it seems to see the scanner, but never the printer. HELP!

The printer component uses a different protocol to advertise itself on the network compared to the scanner component and it can take several seconds longer to appear after the scanner has.
That said, with the introduction of AirPrint, the MG should be seen as Bonjour Multifunction in the Add Printer window, as shown below.
Selecting this Bonjour Multifunction entry will create a printer using AirPrint and a scanner using the iCA driver.
So do you see the MG5220 as Bonjour Multifunction or just Bonjour?

  • Can't see ishuffle on my mac during setup or download songs

I'm trying to set up my child's Christmas present, an ishuffle 2G. Following instruction manual. 3rd step - set up suffle using onscreen instructions when they appear.  THEY DIDN'T. So I charged the battery and that's as far as I got. My computer is using Mac OS X v 10.6.8 if that helps.

When you say "2G," does that mean it's the current 4th gen "2GB" shuffle, or that it's the older "2nd gen" shuffle?
If it's the current 4th gen shuffle, you may need to update to the latest version of iTunes.  Your Mac OS X version is older, so your version of iTunes may be from before that iPod model was released.  The tech specs for the 4th gen shuffle
    http://www.apple.com/ipod-shuffle/specs.html
says iTunes "10.7 or later" is required.  You can download iTunes here
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
The iTunes System Requirements says "10.6.8 or later," so it should work.

  • How do I get my macmini running Mountain Lion to see my Canon USB printer connected to my Airport Extreme? I have a macbook pro running leopard and that works fine. The versions of airport utility are different and I can't even see the printer from new 1

I am having trouble seeing my usb printer from my second gen airport extreme using the newest version of airport utility under Mountain Lion. UGH! And while I can see and network to my Canon IP5000 from my macbook pro running leopard, I can't from my new macmini running Mountain Lion. Any help would be appreciated in configuring my macmini so it can see the Canon IP5000 on the airport extreme. Don't want to "share" the printer from the laptop because that would be a cludge. Thanks ahead

I solved this one based on another post. Turned out I needed the snow leopard IP5000 driver. I had just copied over the leopard driver (I had saved my .dmg file) and installed that but it didn't work. So I downloaded the latest driver which turned out to be for snow leopard and I am guessing since it is 64bit that is why it worked and the leopard driver didn't. Anyway, I also had to hook the printer up via usb to the mac mini to get it to work locally before the O/S would see it over Bonjour via the airport extreme.

  • [PARTIALY SOLVED]Can't see SAMBA share or Printer in Linux

    Greetings all,
I have built a headless server running Arch linux as the base OS.  I am running SAMBA and CUPS and performing all maintenance of this server via SSH.
The SAMBA share I can see (read/write) on all the Windows 7 machines on the network as well as the Printer connected to the server.  But I can't see it when I open Thunar or PCManFM.  Nor can I access the printer.
It's obviously something I am doing wrong but I have Googled different parameters trying to find a solution but have come up short.
Your assistance and guidance in putting me in the right direction is most appreciated.  All my Linux machines are running Arch.
    Thanks,
    Ian

I have looked high and low.  The printer is set up via CUPS and the printer in smb.conf is set to CUPS.  All 4 windows computers in the house now have this printer set as default and can print fine.
But if I try to print in Linux, for example in Libreoffice, I get No default printer found.  Please choose a printer and try again.  When I click ok, the network printer does not show up for me to select.
I have tried updating the /etc/cups/client.conf on the client computer and it is set as:
    # see 'man client.conf'
    homeserver /var/run/cups/cups.sock
    homeserver 192.168.X.XX
From what I have read so far, this is correct.  When I go to the CUPS Web Interface it shows under Manage Printer my HP 7300 Series printer there and in idle waiting for job.  And in Windows I can print to it just fine.
As far as I can  tell SAMBA is set up correctly (I can mount the file drive in Arch with no issues) and CUPS seems to be configured correctly as well from all that I have read.
    Any insight would be great,
    Thanks,
    Ian

  • Can't see external hard drive/printer on pc machine

I have an airport express. My main machine is a Windows/XP. I have an external hard drive and printer (Epson STylus CX3200) hooked up through a hub on airport express. My macbook can see both and use both. My pc can't see either one. Any ideas?
macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   pc with xp

    Hi
    Welcome to apple discussions
Are you sure you have an express and not one of the new extreme models. If you have an express then the usb port will only work with a single printer. Thus if you do have an express and your macbook can see your setup I would be very interested to know what hub hard drive etc you are using.

  • How can I get my Canon MP600 printer to print and scan after upgrading to Mavericks?

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and the first thing I discovered was that my Canon MP600 printer would not scan.  Checking online I find that others have had the same experience.  Now it won't print either.  Anyone know what can be done to resolve this?

This has been a major pain in the *** for me! I have trawled too many online discussions and forum threads on this only to find no real answers that work. In the end I found some software called VueScan which although cost me $40, has now allowed me to scan from my MP600. Check it out at http://www.hamrick.com/
    Cheers

  • Why can't I see my Canon MP510 printer in my System Preferences?

    Hi...
I've spent hours trying to find my issue in these discussions. I bought a Canon Pixma MP510 with my Macbook and it was easy to install and I began printing immediately with no problems.
Recently, I kept getting a strange message that one of my ink cartridges wasn't recognized (it didn't look like the ink was depleted, but everyone told me I should replace it), and I was unable to print...nothing was coming out on the printer, so I replaced the black ink tank (the one that was not lit up and giving me the problem). Figuring that would solve the issue.
NOT SO. When I try to print now with the new cartridge, nothing happened. Although once I did get a sheet of paper that "went through the motions". A friend suggested I delete my printer (I had two for some reason) and reinstall. I did that. Now I keep getting a message that my computer is "searching for printer" like my printer wasn't even there!! Then I think maybe it's the driver. So I go to the Canon website to look for an updated driver, thinking maybe that's it.
I found the updated driver and went through the install instructions (it's not rocket science, for God's sake) and still no printer listed in my Print and Fax preferences. It can't be found. I have never been so frustrated in my life. Why can't printing EVER be easy? I seem to always have problems with printers and drivers and this kind of thing. There's not even anything that addresses this problem in my printer's online manual. It seems that once you get an issue as simplistic as a cartridge replacement, everything else screws up. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing a step????
PLEASE PLEASE HELP before it winds up outside in the freezing rain. Thank you so much!!!

I do remember resetting my print system through the set-up utility and it didn't work, although that was before I deleted and re-installed the software. I did not try the AirPort Admin steps, however. Does that just automatically "turn off" when there is a situation like a changed ink tank or something?
How about if someone joined my network? Would that just knock off the printing?
I will try that again when I get home from work to see if that helps.
Thank you very much! I'll update later with my results.

  • Any ideas how can install an old Canon BJC80 printer on mac osx 10.5 can only find windows drivers on the disk or on canons website!

Hi have just got a second hand Canon BJC-80 laptop printer and am trying to install on an imac running 10.5 I have been on the canon website and can only find drivers for windows based operating systems. Tried the add printer but nothing in the list. help.

I think the sitation with the Canon BJC-80 is a little confused.  I think the Canon web site is confused.
I get conflicting information. I suggest trying Gutenprint and Gimp-Print for Mac OS X. Gimp-Print is the older name for Gutenprint.
I haven't had much luck with Gimp-Print.  Hopefully you will do better.

Doesn't list the BJC-80 as support in Mac OS X.

  • Can't connect my Canon Wireless Printer to my iMac

I am new to imac and I am having trouble trying to setup my wireless Canon Pixma MG8150. Its not being recgonised by my imc even though I have the wifi connected to the printer. Can anyone help? Do I need the Airport Express Base Station for this?

I have Canon Pixma MP560 wireless printer and scanner. Have you installed the Canon software and drivers on your iMac? You can go to Canon website and find the software based on your printer model. Maybe this is what you need: http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/Products_OLD/MG8140MG8150.aspx? type=download&page=1
You can filter by software and by your operating system. I typically install all of them except the My Image Garden because as far as I know it's for organizing photos.
After installing, the Wireless Setup Assistant can be used to help you connect to your printer. Or you can also add/remove printers and scanners in your System Preferences.
The printer and your iMac need to be connected to the same router so they are on the same LAN.

  • Fillable PDF returned with data, can't see on screen or print

    Hi
    Help!
I have created a fillable PDF.  Client has sent out to their client. Form has been returned. Data is in the fields. However, cannot see the data on screen, or print the data.
Was able to save as / export to an fdf file, then open the fdf file and all details were visible. When printing, an error message popped up, however, everything on the page did print out as expected.
Not sure how the client sent out the original PDF, however, the buttons on the returned PDF have been stripped of their functions !!  Somewhere along the process (not sure where/how) the function of the PDF changed!!! ?

No, there are a number of PDF viewers that don't support JavaScript at all. Preview is odd in that it removes a lot of things when it saves, including all JavaScripts, (field, page, document) actions, digital signatures, layers, and many other things. Other PDF viewers are less pernicious, but still don't have much or any support for either form fields or JavaScript. Even Adobe Reader on mobile devices has significantly less support than the desktop versions (Win/Mac) of Reader do.
It is possible to set up a form so that it is essentially unusable if the PDF viewer being used does not have sufficient support for JavaScript. This way the user is prevented from filling in the form and thinking that everything is OK. They will instead be warned to use Adobe Reader, or be allowed to proceed if using some other PDF viewer that is sufficient, such as PDF Expert on iOS, qPDF Notes on Android, or somethig like Foxit Reader or Nitro PDF Reader on Windows.

  • Photoshop CS can't see my Canon Scanner

I've never had a problem opening the Canon N1220U scanner until today. I reinstalled the OSX driver off Canon's website but still Photoshop thinks the scanner is not connected. Although when I click "About This Mac" it's listed.
What can I do? I shouldn't have to use Vuescan or what ever that program is called.
    Thanks

  • Can't see Fuji Xerox C1110 Printer in Mountain Lion

I have an unusual problem.  I have a Fuji Xerox C1110 laser printer with both USB and Ethernet ports.  This printer is connected to an internet modem router and dynamically assigned an IP address and is recognised by a Windows 7 PC but not by a Macbook Pro running Lion - either when connecting to the IP port, or even via USB...

Fasebook intergration will not be available until the Fall update.
