I can't see the Copy dialog box - ideas?

Yep, it's as simple as that. When I copy something, I can't see the dialog box showing the progress of the copy/move/etc. In the Window menu, it shows that there's a copy dialog open, but I just can't see it. It's not on another desktop or in a corner of the screen, it's just honestly not there.
Any ideas?

The first thing I'd suggest is deleting the AppleWorks preferences. My user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, included the information on where to find them in OS 8.
Even though you are using OS 8, I strongly suggest updating AppleWorks to at least 6.2.3 (included in the 6.2.4 for OS X update) or the newest 6.2.8/6.2.9. You can find the 6.2.4 updater here. You can find the most reliable link to the 6.2.9 updater on this page where you can choose the appropriate updater for your AppleWorks 6 installation. Be sure to pay attention to the two English version updaters. You'd want to delete the preferences mentioned above before launching AppleWorks for the first time after the update.

Hello to everyone i am using Win 7 Ultimate SP 1 and when i go to system properties -> remote settings all i get is the remote assistance dialog box and i can't find the remote desktop dialog box. I can see the remote assistance dialog box but i

i have tried almost anything. I have opened exceptions in windows firewall for remote desktop. I started the remote desktop services manually but nothing happend, i still can't see the remote desktop dialog box and that's odd because i can see my remote

If this issue persists, it is recommended to perform system restore to get back to a previous time point to check what the result is:

Once you select the Show Details for any application, the next time you use that application and select to print, the full details pane should be shown.
If this is not happening and the applications always show the Hidden Details print dialog then you may need to perform some sort of reset.
Also, if you were to use the Presets option and set commonly used settings as a Preset, then even if the print dialog is not showing the extra details, you can still select the desired Preset from this print dialog.

Slow-Start Up and "can not find the server" dialog box

2 year old Ibook G4. When I try to open either Safari or Netscape the "can not find the server" box pops up.. I have a solid connection wi-fi for the wireless signal is on full strength. I have cleared my cache. Also I am experiencing start-ups that are taking 2-3 minutes. The color wheel just keeps spinning.Also, I have done repair and I renewed the DHCD. Not sure what else to do?

you may want to back up any important files just in case.
if the iBook boots up from the OS install CD/DVD with no problems, issues could be caused by the corrupted files on the hard drive or failing drive.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.

I do not remember this being a feature of 5.1, I think it's been around for several generations.
Have you turned on Assistive Touch? Settings > General > Accessibility > Assitive Touch.

You can try creating a new boolean preference - '''print.use_native_print_dialog''' - and set it to '''false''' and see it that still works. That pref was removed from about:config a number of versions ago, but the underlying code might still be present, so give it a try.

Can't see printer name in the print dialog box as the printer name is too long

This is actually causing siginificant pain as I am using a tablet and moving around a number of floors/buildings needing to be able to print from where I am.
When printing from Acrobat reader, the print dialog box that comes up does not have a horizontal scroll bar and does not fit in the names of the printers in my organisation. We are unable to change the printer name, so it basically means that when using Acrobat, we can't select a printer.
All other windows applications show more characters and also have a horizontal scroll bar in the print dialog box so you can scroll across to see the rest of a long printer name. Why is acrobat not using the standard windows print dialog?
Has anyone come across this? Help!

This is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. In the future you should check there. I am not sure why you can not change the printer name, unless you do not have administrator rights. The name of the printer has nothing to do with where the print copy is sent. It is just for the purpose you mentioned of identifying the printer to print to. If you are not the administrator, ask your IT folks to change the name for you and explain why.

Can't see psd thumbnails in the open dialog box.

In the open dialog box, the thumbnails for psd files do not show the picture but show an Elements logo instead. How can I see picture thumbnails for psd files as I do for jpg files? I found a dng codec on the web site but not a psd codec. The dng codec doesn't work for psd files.

Is there any error message when you try to map network Drive manually? It would be better to provide more details about error message.
Generally speaking, this problem can be caused by Network Connection problem, please make sure your Client PC could access to Network Drive PC.
In addition, please check Network Drive PC security setting, if there is any firewall policy prevent this operation.
If still no use, please check Event Viewer if it identify this problem.

There is no error. There is no connectivity problem. THe drives map automatically and always have. I can open up File Explorer and browse these drives all I want. I can open up Word and browse to these drives just fine.
However, when I open certain programs, and click File | Open, the mapped network drives just simply aren't there. I only see C and D and that's it.
