Before trying to isolate an issue, it's always best that one is running the latest Skype release. Which may in itself resolve the issue.
A new version has just been released September 13th, 2011:
Please download/install this version from here, when prompted click the open or run button: http://download.skype.com/SkypeSetup.exe
This new version is 5.5.0.117 to check what version you have, using the main Skype client window please do:
Help -> About Skype
This is NOT a fix or solution.
Please right click on the Skype Icon in your system tray and change your status to "Offline" for 5 seconds and then back to "Online".
This forces a status update of all your contacts in your contact list as well as a update of your status without the need to logoff/logon.
Also, if possible, call them Skype to Skype and request they do the same, while you are both online.

• Can I see what is being looked at or used on my other devices

Can I see what is being looked at or viewed on my other devices

The parental controls are a more sensible solution, anyway. You can restrict their activity without the need to spy on them. They really are entitled to their privacy.

• Can't see what I am typing after logout from Xorg

Hello,
I noticed this problem a few years ago , I thought that it was related to my computer, of something I was doing wrong, but I noticed that this problem appears every time for me, with every computer. I'll try to explain it, but it will be hard
So, this problem appears at least in the two following cases:
- After editing the .xinitrc file, I start Xorg as user (typing startx) without any xf86-video-driver installed, it crashes (as expected), and comes back to tty.
- After editing the .xinitrc file, I start Xorg as user (typing startx) with the right xf86-video-driver installed, it works. I see my windows manager (Openbox) I click "Logout" to come back from X to tty.
But, once I came back to tty, I can't see what I am typing in the terminal (like a freeze). My commands are executed (I can logout) but I don't see what I am typing. If I try to edit a textfile using nano, it seems to be frozen. The only solution after that to see what I am typing is to logout, and login again. The only solution to edit a textfile using nano after that is to reboot my computer...
Haven't to noticed that ? Am I doing something wrong ? Isn't it a bug ?
Thank you

• My search bar in google now turns blue and I can not see what I am typing. Why? I read somewhere it's a problem with Firefox. Is there a fix for this?

I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but one day my Google search bar turned blue when I tried typing in it. I couldn't see what I was typing. I did some research and some forums said it was a problem with Firefox. Have you heard of this? Is there a solution for it?
Thank you for your help.

For me, the google search bar turns blue once I've typed in a search term, but then want to click on it again to change or add something. The entire bar turns blue. I can still type, but it's hidden. Then when I click Search, it does bring up my search results and now the terms I've written are showing in the search bar, with no blue.
The only way to get out of it when the blue is there, is to reload the page.

When I type the keyboard is in the way and I cannot see what I am typing. How do I fix this?

I just updated to ios8 on my iPad and the keyboard blocking the text is driving me nuts! You used to be able to scroll the page up which would allow one to see what you were typing. Ugh! Help. splitting the screen is not an option. It used to work fine

The chat box goes down when i do split keyboard and I can't see what I am typing

I noticed that you responded to a very old thread about the split keyboard that I was in a couple of years ago and you asked this question about Skype and the spli keyboard.
I Googled the question and the very first thing that I found form the Skype community was the recommendation to disable the split keyboard or just not use it, like I already stated.

• When I type into any text box the background of the box is blue and when I try to google something I can't see what I am typing...anyone know how to fix this?

Any text box I type in the background is blue no matter what, if the website is dark the font is white and I can't read what I am typing. When I type in Google my typing doesn't show up unless I highlight it. Any help?

That can be caused by the "Keystroke protection" in Comcast Constant Guard.
"Configure Anti-Keylogging Settings" -> disable

• When I compose an email, I can't see what I'm typing near the right margin. Other browsers have an arrow to click to widen the view. youdon't.

When I compose an email, the composition window is not wide enough, so as I get near the right margin my cursor suddenly disappears behind the right edge of the window for like 10 characters or so and then it reappears on the Left Margin and I can see it again. So if I type something incorrectly out there on the right where I can't see it, I'm screwed. And there's no mechanism to widen the window. In Explorer, there was an arrow halfway down the window that I could click on to widen the window. So I'm gathering this is a browser/Firefox issue. Please advise.

Can't you resize that text area when you move the mouse pointer to the bottom right corner?
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
*View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
Also make sure to use full page zoom ("View > Zoom Text Only" should not be checked)
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

• My iPad touch keyboard is coming up in the middle of the screen soni can't see what I'm typing?

How do I get a keyboard on iPad to be back at bottom of screen?

Tap the key on the lower right hand corner of the keyboard for about 1 second, you should see a little window with the word, Dock. Tap dock, and the keyboard should drop down to the bottom. This is how it's done on iPad 2, your iPad is probably similar.

• TS3274 This week the keypad "jumped" to the top of the screean't see what I'm typing! How do I get it back down to where it used to be?

This week the keypad "jumped" to the top of the screen so that I often can't see what I'm typing! Not sure why it happened and want to know how to get the keypad back down to where it used to be! Can anyone help?
Cheers

If the keyboard is split and covering your text, Pull the two ends of the keyboard together - into the middle of the screen. You can also tap and hold down on the little keyboard icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard and select - Dock and Merge.
If the keyboard is up on the middle of the screen, but not split, and you want to move it back to the bottom - tap and hold down on the little keyboard and icon and select - Dock
You can turn the split keyboard off in Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>Off.

• When typing on my iPad the screen does not move up so I can see what I am typing.

Under normal operation, when using the virtual keypad, iOS shifts the screen so that it's possible to view what you are typing all the time. On my iPad if the text I am typing is below the keyboard, the screen is not automatically moved up. On some forms for example, where it is not possible to manually shift the screen, it is impossible to see what you are typing. I went to the Genius Bar and they wiped my iPad and reinstalled iOS 6 but I still have the problem. I'm guessing it is being caused by one of my apps but with 174 apps which all reinstall from the cloud it is impossible for me to know which one (and Apple is supposed to have tested all apps anyway). Any suggestions?

So reading related comments and your feedback here helped me identify and fix the issue. Basically by turning off the split keyboard option in settings the problem with not scrolling was corrected. I then tried turning the option back on and it now appears to work fine either docked or split. I'm guessing there is a bugs in iOS whereby the setting for the split keyboard causes it to not scroll the window under specific circumstances (if I had to guess I would say when you switch the split keyboard option on and then don't use the spilt keyboard). And for the record, this problem occurred for all Apple apps as well as 3rd party apps (eg Apple notes). my advice to the "Genius" guys is to do basic stuff like changing the settings first before they resort to wiping and restore.

• Why is background black and text black so you cannot see what you are typing

Why is the background black and the text black. You cannot see what you are typing or read the text of posts?

Hi dlwhit,
I'm not sure what you mean by the background and text being black. The sidebars are black, but the text is supposed to show up on a white background. I haven't seen this, nor has anyone else reported this issue yet.
Can you give more information where you see black on black text so we can try to correct it?
Thanks,
SunshineF
