I can't seem to edit pdf using XI Pro - says must use LiveCycle Designer (which is supposed to be included in Pro?)

Hi. I am a new user to Acrobat XI Pro, and was trying to make some simple edits to a PDF document. I keep getting a popup that informs me that I must use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form. It is my understanding that LiveCycle is supposed to be part of the Pro suite. How can I edit this document?

But on its website, it says that PDF forms are editable - PDF editor, edit text in PDF files | Adobe Acrobat XI. But I have a file I created with Adobe 8 Pro and it won't let me edit the text. I don't need to do an overhaul, but it gives me an error and says I need LiveCycle. Even the comparison chart online says it has the ability to edit PDF files. Anyone have an idea if there's a feature in the old form that I can change to allow me to edit the text without getting LiveCycle? Bummer that it's not still included. I thought it was.
And try67, what do you mean if I upgraded I may be able to get it? Is that something I should just contact Adobe about to see if it can be added to my software purchase?

Can't save an edited PDF to the same folder it originated from. Error "cannot save the document is read-only or is open by someone else" and then it prompts to save the document to another folder or change the name of the document. This is not what I want to do! Using WIndows 7

Thank You for posting on the forums. This can happen if the preview of the document is opened in preview pane in Windows Explorer.
Kindly switch off the preview pane and then try the same.

If the files have a permissions password, you need to know it, and remove security, before you can edit the files. That is correct.

This doesn't seem right.
I paid for a rental and downloaded an HD movie, Avatar. I could start watching within about a minute, it played without skipping a beat.
My wife started watching the movie the next night and got about half way through.
The next day, she tried watching the rest, and selected the film and clicked on "resume watching".
But instead of streaming and playing like it should, we got the spinning wheel of death followed by a message "Ready to play in 1 minute" which soon became "Ready to play in 2351 minutes"!
Additional information that I can add is that it was Sunday afternoon which is peak time for internet usage and I'd just exhausted my data allowance before the speed limiting kicks in. Basic internet using browsers at that time was really slow.
So it was as though the movie we were going to resume watching was going to be downloaded from the iTunes Store again, and since my connection had been speed limited, it was going to take forever. I thought you downloaded a rental to your hard drive and it deleted itself after it expired? So any subsequent streaming to AppleTV would be coming direct from your hard drive. It shouldn't have been affected by the speed of my internet connection at that time, surely. Anyone else experienced this?

Well, since the source files (.java) are ASCII (text), I went in and edited the text via notepad. After saving the file, I opened up Sun One Studio and it actually reverted the code back to it's original state (the auto-generated text).

Thx Eric. You've helped! When I tried to copy the words written in my e-mail to show you what I meant, I right clicked to copy, and saw an option to open the attachment, which it did! So I'm sorted thank you. Editable means a form which you can fill in and send back. Thanks again. Stephen

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'

That is just recovery. It installs whatever is currently loaded. Internet Recovery installs the shipping OS and doesn't require a password. It is accessed with cmd-opt-r, or if you don't have an available boot drive.
If your Mac shipped with Mountain Lion, but was shipped very close to its release, Apple's database may think it shipped with Lion, and it will want a password to install Mountain Lion. You'll have to contact App Store Support to clear that up. There is a link in the App Store near the account links.

I have created a Indesign dealer catalog for my company and exported it into a interactive PDF for the Engineers to use when helping a customer with ordering. Now they would like to be able to edit the PDF with notes whenever they want. How can they do this?

PDFs are not designed to be editable. Your engineers can make comments using Adobe Reader without any extra steps provided they use the highlight and sticky note comments. If you want them to have access to the full range of comment markup you will need to use Acrobat to apply extended rights to the file.

Before you downloaded the trial, were you using Adobe Reader to view the PDF files? If so, you should still have Reader on your computer. You just need to make sure that you're opening that, and not Acrobat, when you want to view your PDF files.

I can't seem to upload PDF files through Firefox 5.0

I have not been able to upload a PDF file through Firefox 5.0. This has occurred with two different websites. It appears from the error messages that the file is not being identified as a PDF file, but is labelled something else. DOCX files are uploaded appropriately, but I must use PDF also. Thanks.

I've been using DW CS4 since Dec. 2010 to design and upload the store site with no problems until this past week.
I update the site once a month, during the last couple of weeks I've used DW to design 2 new pages, but this past week when I went to upload the pages I noticed the remote view was different. The remote view did show the 2 new files, including pictures, but not all the other files that I normally see, including the index file.
Plus, there are folders I didn't see before, CGI, DropBox and about 6 others.
On the 2nd pg. of the main site, I put a link to past editions, the URL looks like this... http://www.landmarkantiques.com/July2011.html
I can't think of anything I might have done to cause the change, so I'm at a loss as to why and what might have caused it.
I have DW CS5 that I have not installed, and I'm a little worried about making that transition since this has happened.
