I can't seem to switch off passcode... Any ideas?
I was prompted a few days ago to create a passcode, and now I have to enter it every time I unlock my iPad. I'd like to switch this off but in settings the button to switch it off is not highlighted and cannot be clicked. Has anyone else had this trouble and how do I get around it? Thanks for your help in advance.
Do you have an Exchange email account set up on the iPad ? If so then it's possible that the account administrator is forcing you to have one so as to prevent the possibility of your iPad being left unlocked and stolen and potential confidential work emails being left accessible.

My iPhone 4 froze when I was using the Facebook app. The only thing moving is the indicator at the top spinning to show its "thinking." Its been like this for about an hour, I can't even turn it off. Any ideas (other than letting the battery go dead)?
Thank you, I've tried that but it won't work either, the logo never comes up. It just stays on the FB app screen. I tried connecting to iTunes to see if I can fix something from there and it freezes iTunes. Also tried disconnecting the wifi (I don't know how I thought that would help but worth a try) and plugging it into the charger but still nothing. I think I'll have to visit the store tomorrow. I appreciate it, though!

Mac does not drive down, obviously after certain programs have been started. One of those programs is itunes. I have to use the power switch button for switching it off. Mac can be driven down normally immediately after start-up.....Any idea what to do?Yes, this was exactly the sequence and again it worked...

I recently updated to Lion, but lost iSync that I use to sync Outlook with iCal. Can't seem to find out to get it back. When I try to download from a third party site, I get a message that a newer version has already been installed. Any help would be appreciated.

You'll actually need to order a snow leopard DVD first. Then you can download mountain lion via the app store. Confirm you meet the requirements: http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
If you dont, you might be able to get lion instead. That's an order over the phone, to get a redemption code.
And make sure you're actually contacting apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
You'll also want to confirm your 3rd party apps are compatible before an OS upgrade. Of course, you'll also want to backup your data.

I have an old work e mail address that was a primary apple id. The App Store uses this as a default. I have created a new apple ID and changed this in the settings but the App Store still defaults to the old address. How can I get change this as I cannot update anything at this stage. What Mac do you have and how much RAM. You could try reseating the chips, or if you have enough RAM try pulling chips out and testing via a process of elimination. -
I am creating a photo book in iPhoto. In the page view, book view, and slideshow, it shows the letters "Lor" in the right margin on some of the pages. I haven't been able to delete it and don't know why those letters are showing up there. Any ideas?
It sounds like you are using a Chinese font.
Use something else eg Times or Helvetica or any European font.
If the character disappears, its the font.

Back up your data, use the Software Update pane of System Preferences to get to 10.6.8, back it up again, check your applications for compatibility, and either download Yosemite from the Mac App Store or buy a download code for Mountain Lion from the online Apple Store.

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If so, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
How to switch video angle ? I can only seem to switch audio
I created a 2 angle multiclip. I synchronized it using In-Points. Everything seems to work in the viewer (both angles advance in synch). I set Multiclip playback with unlimited RT and just RT.
I can ealily switch the selected audio (green outline) but I can't seem to switch the video angle (the blue outline always stays on angle 1).
I tried switching using the keyboard shortcut or buttons added to the button bar in my timeline. The green outline swtiches to angle 2 in the viewer even when I click the switch video angle button (same behavior as the switch audio to Angle 2 button or keyboard shortcut) then, when I click the switch video to angle 1 button, the green outline swtiches back to angle 1 (same as switch audio to angle 1).
Finally, if I select the timeline and try to switch video to angle 2 the system beeps, but everything works great on the audio side in the timeline (easily switching from angle 1 to 2 and back to one using the audio switch button.
I am using FCP 5.0.4.

I can't seem to turn off my assistant. It talks to me constantly (or on mute) and it goes through each box individually. This makes it difficult to navigate myself through pages. Please, if you know how to turn it off, help.
In 10.6 or earlier go to: Apple / System Preferences / Universal Access and turn off Voice Over.
In 10.8 go to: Apple / System Preferences / Accessibility / VoiceOver and uncheck the box for Enable VoiceOver.
