thanks for your response roaminggnome. I changed my password immediately after it happened and I have contacted i tunes to let them know of this dillemma.
The I-tunes credit was a promotional thing by Apple to buy their laptop. So I didn't pay for the i-tunes credit in the first place. Do you think my bank will be able to reinburse Itunes credit then? I will ask support when they get back to me.

I understand that when you originally connected your IPhone about a year ago it was recognized properly.
Now when you connect your IPhone nothing happens but it does charger it, (until you used the last cable.)

Can I use my Macbook Air with my apple TV?

I have just purchased and Apple TV box to use with my phone and Ipad. I was just wondering is i can also use my macbook air (late 2010) with it as well. I can stream my itunes through the apple tv and play all my songs but i was wondering if I could mirror the screen onto my TV. I am useless with all the macbook jargon i have seen in other posts so need some simple help. I am operating on Lion 10.7.5. I have read that nwer software could help but i would like to know for certain before purcahsing the latest software.

I have lots of .MOV files on my iPhone5 that I need to transfer to my PC. Using QuickTime Player 7.7.4 I am unable to view them once they have been copied to a hard drive or directly from the iPhone via USB. 1% of the time a vid is viewable

I can tranfer them to a hard drive on my PC, but am unable to view most of them using QuickTime Player 7.7.4. Doesn't matter if I'm viewing them via a USB connection to my iPhone5 or from a hard drive after the file has been copied via USB. 1% of the vids are viewable, 20% open with a black screen and audio only. The rest open with a blue, purple and green stryrated mess and no audio. Yes its a Quick Time problem I know but where do I post this question in the community? Also searching my drives for other .MOV files downloaded from the net I find the same problem with them.

Heres what I don't like about VLC, but at least the files are viewable...somewhat.
1. You can't flip the image 90degrees, needs to have a rotate feature for sure. This needs to have keyboard shortcut so vids can be rotated easily as one may have shot video horizontally and vertically in the same take.
2. Opens file to a very large window, most of it off the screen, it should REMEMBER what you resized it to, so the next time a video is played you don't have to drag the window back on the screen so you can get to the resizing handle in the lower corner.
3. Doesn't buffer while playing, so the movies are extremely erractic, starting and stopping every 3 seconds, highly annoying.
OK so maybe my PC is too slow, its a dual processor 486 Hyperrthread 2.8G but I only have 2Gigs of memory, however, bettery than 50% of the memory is still available while playing a vid (memory is checked every 4 seconds with a program), but I have 90-100% CPU useage going on while playing.
Maybe I should think about a new computer.

How do I use my Macbook Air with a display?

I wish to use the display with the Macbook Air. The screen on the MBA is too small for home use so I want to use the display instead. How do I do this? It's awkward to type on the MBA keyboard and then look at the display next to the MBA.
However I want to keep the MBA as my main computer because I like to use the MBA outside my home a lot. So that is why I do not buy an iMac.
I also do not want to go to the trouble of syncing a Macbook Air and an iMac.
I figured if I can use the hard drive on the MBA and then use the cinema display to show everything like my LCD screen that would be great.
How can I get around the problem of awkward placement on my desk?
Can I buy a keyboard and will that prevent the need to type using the MBA's keyboard?
I plan on replacing my old MBA with the new MBA that has two USB ports.
Will the separate keyboard and display fit into a USB hub? I need to keep one hub free on the MBAir for the USB ethernet.
Is it just a matter of plugging the cinema display and keyboard into the MBA and then just typing away, using the MBA's hard drive?

There are two USB ports on the display. Use one for ethernet and one for the keyboard (a USB mouse can plug into the keyboard).

Yes. Or you can use a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Using a MacBook Air with 27" HP Monitor

Our IT department bought an HP 2740w display for my MacBook Air because they didn't want to spend the money on a Thunderbolt Display. The highest resolution I can seemingly get is 1440 x 900. I'm SO disappointed. Nothing (not even close) to the image I get on my 27" iMac at home. OK, so I'll blame that on HP. (I think.)
My question is this: If I look at the specs for the MacBook Air (13") it says this:
Supported resolutions:
1440 by 900 (native), 1280 by 800, 1152 by 720, and 1024 by 640 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio; 1024 by 768 and 800 by 600 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio.
So, had we spent the extra money on a ThunderBolt Display, I would still only get 1440 x 900? I simply can't believe that!

But it does concern me that the screen on the left (the smaller image) is the HP 2740. My "guess" would be that should be the larger screen.

Wondering if anyone can advise on experience with using a tv as a monitor? I don't believe Mac make just a monitor for this purpose do they?

it's ok, highly pixelated, meaning you will see pixels. I would say its great to watch videos, but any reading or such will be displeasing. Really depends on the pixels per inch of your TV also. But, I would stick with nothing more than 27" for reading or anything text based.

The Time Capsule is for your Time Machine backups, not "everyday" files. .
If you delete the music files on your MacBook Air.....there are a number of negative things that can occur.
1) The only copy of your music will be on the Time Capsule. When....not if....the Time Capsule has a problem, you will lose your music files, since you have no backup for them. In other words, you always need at least two copies of your important files on two separate drives.
2) Time Machine backs up the changes that occur on your MacBook Air. If you delete the music files from the MacBook Air, at some point Time Machine will also delete them from the Time Capsule.....and there is no way to know when this might occur.
A better plan to consider might be to add a USB or FireWire drive and connect it directly to your MacBook Air. Move the music files over to that drive.
Then, Time Machine will back up both your MacBook Air and the attached hard drive. So, you have an "original" copy of your data on one drive and a backup copy of the same data on the Time Capsule. That would be a minimum backup plan.

What do you mean by 'registered it on iTunes' ? You've authorised your account on your Mac's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option ? And you've copied your library onto the Mac ?

Open the App Store app, go to the Featured pane, swipe to the bottom, tap the Apple ID and sign out. Tap again and sign in with the Apple ID of your choosing.

I want to use my Macbook Air 2011 as an external disk for my iMac 2011. I connected the two with a Thunderbolt cable and when starting the MacBook Air I pressed "T" and it worked except with Office documents. Can anybody help?

I want to use my MacBook Air as an external disk to my iMac. I talked to Apple care and we solved it by connecting a Thunderbolt cable between the two computers. I then turn on the MacBook Air while pressing the "T" and it works. I can sit and work on my iMac and grab/change/save the files that are in my MacBook Air EXCEPT for the Microsoft Office files. I called Microsoft and they can't solve it. They say it might be a problem with the Thunderbolt cable. Has anybody have this problem?
Both computers are 2011 and they both have Office 2011.

For Word it says "Word cannot open this document. The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document, or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example, /)"
For Excel it says "the file could not be found. Check te spelling of the filename, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files on the File menu, make sure hat the file has not been renamed, moved or deleted.
I tried this with many different documents, and I always get the same message.
