I can't send email since my phone updated

I am running iOs 6.1 With my most recent update I lose the ability to delete, send, forward etc from my gmail account on my phone. Any suggestions?

There are several threads discussing this issue. I tried many suggested solutions without success until one finally worked and I'm sharing it in every thread.
First, here is my hardware/software situation, if your's is diff, then the fix I found might not work.
iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS 5. IMAP email wouldn't SEND
Fix:
Go into setting>mail>your account>Outgoing mail Server SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name + Password under Outgoing Mail Server.
It seems that in previous versions of iOS, you didn't need to enter your username and password in the outgoing mail server settings, but in iOS 5, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
Thanks to worapoj for being the first (i saw) to post this simple fix.

HT4528 Can't Send Email Since Last Few Updates

My mother and I both have iPhones - she has a 4 and I have a 5. Since the last update on the software, we cannot send Email. We can receive them but cannot send them. Our mail settings are correct - this is not a problem with our Email providers. I use Time Warner and she uses GVTC. I have verified these settings are correct. I see that many people have posted this same issue and can't get it resolved because Apple says it is the Email provider and the Email provider says it is Apple. Please do not tell me it is my Email provider as I use these same settings on my Windows tablet with no issues. This was the ticket to rid phone of this daunting message/alert “Cannot Send Mail, the connection to the outgoing server "smtp.aol.com" failed.” After spending way to many hours reading through dozens of forums, trying suggestions, I found a fix. I was attempting to set up a fully functioning aol email on a new 5C. It seems (a lot, if not all) email servers, browsers, engines (not sure of correct terminology) have issues with this. Luckily I came upon this solution after trying check your smtp's, delete email account and reload, turn on that deal and switch that one off, restart phone. I was so hopeful with everyone of these only to become more enraged when it didn't work.
THE FIX
access your email provider through safari, etc on phone
log in and send email to someone
a security diagram/code appeared, upon entering, got a happy lil message from aol saying email was operational, something along those lines
went back to apple email icon, crossing fingers, sent a message and it worked!!!!!!!

try to log into your email from another mobile or device and see if you can, or log out of your email on your phone and log back in see if it works

Can't send emails since downloading Maverick

Since I downloaded Maverick last weekend, I can not always send emails. Incoming and outgoing mails for one email account is fine, however for another email account, my outgoing often goes offline, although incoming stays online. If I leave it and go back it normally comes back, but it can be offline for hours and hours throughout the day. I am far from tech savy and this is the first time in 3 years having my Macbook Pro that I have had this problem. Anyone suggestions? Causing big problems for me!!

Check your Outgoing server settings and make sure all the fields are entered even when it says Optional.
Note: your Username is the full e-mail address.
If you're not sure, check your e-mail provider website for the settings.

Can't send email on i-phone.

Cannot send emails to people. I have deleted and reinstalled my account for emails and still have the problem.

Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at. If your iPhone number appears in there, select it as your contact address, if it isn't in there, you will have to link the nimumber to messages.

Can't send email since upgrading to Leopard

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago. Mail worked fine until last night. Now I can't send any mail. It just stacks up in my outgoing folder. My mail settings seem to be unchaged. I have several POP accounts, and none of them work.

I don't have a solution, but have been having the same issue. Sometimes, the message goes out, but stays in the outbox.
I did a repair permissions about a week ago and it seemed to work. Now, it's doing it again and the tell tale sign is that you don't get the 'swoosh' sound as the mail goes out. Sometimes I press send and the message immediately goes to outbox with no attempt by mail to send it (as judged by watching activity monitor).
Very troubling because I invoice my clients via email attachment.
I have three mail accounts and all three behave the same way. Never had problems with this same setup in Tiger.

Web-based iCloud service works well.

Can't send emails after Mountain Lion update

After I updated from Lion to Mountain Lion, I could receive messages from my service provider's account, but I could not send messages. Mail Connection Doctor showed the information "Could not connect to SMTP server" for both SMTP servers, and when I try to send a message, I see that each SMTP server now has "(Offline)" after its name. I can still send from my iPad to the same servers, and also from the service provider's webmail. I have rebooted everything (Mac, wi-fi, router) to no avail, and I have followed all advice in Support articles such as TS3276. I have changed absolutely no settings anywhere from the Lion system, and a check of all settings shows that they match the printout I made of the Lion settings. I do not use iCloud for mail, so that server is disabled in Email Accounts, although the system opens iCloud on port 993 for Contacts, etc.
Below is part of the output from the Doctor, which shows an error "503 wrong state for EHLO command" on ports 25 and 587. Researching this message didn't really help me, and, as I say above, I have changed no settings between OS versions, so I assume that something must have changed with Mountain Lion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't send iMessages since OS X update

Sending and receiving iMessages from my Mac worked perfectly until I updated my system to version 10.8.2. Since then, I cannot send iMessages from my Mac. I don't think I'm receiving them either. I can still send other types of IMs (gchat, etc) - only iMessage seems to not be working. It doesn't even seem to be trying to send - I type my message and press enter and it appears in my chat window with the red exclamation point next to it instantly without even a "trying to send" gap. How can I fix this? Thanks!!

Eric's link takes you to the iPad Touch's Community but some of the info can be transferred to the Mac.
I take it that in Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts the iMessages account is Enabled (box ticked) ?
I also would expect the Messages Menu > Accounts to show the Logged in Accounts ticked and that iMessages would be one of these ?
As a First step I would Disable the Account (Untick in the Messages > Accounts or untick the "Enable this Account" box.
Adding a Public DNS server to your System Preferences > Network > Advanced button > DNS tab is a useful thing to do.
It may also pay to add it to your Modem or router (if it has extra spaces to add things to.)

My iphone will not send emails since the last update

I can no longer send emails from my iphone but continue to receive them. Help

It now states it was rejected by the server. This message just began today, prior to that there was no message and I would have no idea if an email was sent unless I looked at my sent mailbox.

My mac doesn't send emails since the last update

since I gave my mac the last update, it doesn't send emails, it receives emails, but doesn't send them. It says error: this message could not be sent because your account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server. Select an outgoing mail server from the list below.
But there's no list and when I go to preferences and try to select one, it doesn't do anything. Please I need to solve this problem.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you aren’t able to send email with Mail on your MacBook Pro because there isn't an outgoing mail server setup. Try using the article below as a guide for setting up your service providers outgoing mail server in Mail.

No idea.
Delete the e-mail account and set it up again according to the settings from your email provider.

I have been having issues with my email updating on my iPad 2 for about 2 months, but it has always resolved when I turned the iPad off for a few minutes. I have not been able to get email at all since updating to IOS 6

First it would help if you explain exactly what happens when you send an email.
Do you get an error message?
If so what does the message say?
The abilitly to send or receive emails does not fall on Apple or the IOS 7.
You email provider gives you that ability.
Double check and make sure your outgoing mail server is correct.
