I can't send emails out since installation of DSL - help??

I use Entourage for my email program. Until 5 days ago, I had dial-up with Netzero.
Finally got DSL through my local phone company (Qwest*). Installed the modem - everything working fine, can get to the internet, can receive emails, but can't send out. (*I did not get email with the DSL, so I'm still using Netzero account).
I can go to Netzero's page and send from there, but can no longer send from Entourage. The Netzero techs are useless. Qwest tells me it's them, they tell me it's Qwest.
I've tried everything I can think of. Anyone have any ideas? I looked at other posts, but it's too overwhelming - I have no idea what putting 25 or 587 in my server port means, as I saw here, and as Netzero suggested. Where the heck is my server port.
Hope someone can help me.

Thanks - tried it, doesn't work, but got a new error message "Relaying denied" error 5553 -
Here are the steps Netzero had me go through:
1. Open Microsoft Entourage in your Microsoft Office X folder.
2. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
3. In the "Accounts" window, select the NetZero account.
4. Click on "Delete".
To configure Entourage for OS X to get NetZero email:
1. Open Microsoft Entourage in your Microsoft Office X folder.
2. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
3. In the "Accounts" window, click "New."
4. The "Account Setup Assistant" will appear. Type your name in the box and click the right-arrow to proceed.
5. On the "Email Address" screen, click the button next to "I already have an email address that I'd like to use" and enter your full NetZero email address (including the @netzero.net). Click the right-arrow to proceed.
6. On the "Mail Servers" screen, make sure the dropdown menu next to "My incoming mail server is a(n)" is set to "POP server."
7. Under "Incoming mail server," type pop.netzero.net
8. Under "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server," type authsmtp.netzero.net
9. Check the box next to My server requires authentication. In the Account name text box, type your email address with @netzero.com
NOTE: You must be logged on to NetZero in order to successfully send NetZero mail.
10. Click the right-arrow to proceed.
11. On the "Account ID and Password" screen, enter your full email address (such as [email protected]) next to "Account ID."
12. If you want to enter your password now so you don't have to enter it every time you check your email, you can do so in the box next to "Password." Make sure the box next to "Save password in my Mac OS keychain" is checked.
13. Click the right-arrow to proceed.
14. You will see a "Congratulations" screen. Enter a name for your new account (such as "NetZero Email Account") and click "Finish."
Note: Due to limits placed on mailboxes, you must complete the following steps to prevent your mail from being blocked or deleted.
1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab and double-click your newly created NetZero account
3. Click the "Options" tab.
4. Under the "Server" section, ensure that the "Leave a copy of messages on the server" box is unchecked.
5. Click "OK" to save.
You may have to use an outgoing mail server that is
compatible with your internet service provider. I
think it may be "pop.dnvr.qwest.net"for Qwest,
without the quotation marks. Try using this outgoing
server and let us know what happens.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Can't send email attachments since upgrade to 10.9.2.

After upgrading to 10.9.2, I can no longer add email attachments (PDF, .ai, .eps, etc.). When I do I get a reply mail from Postmaster (Using Outlook) that says "Undeliverable Mail" due to being in MIME format. I have NO idea what this means, but I had NO issues ever before Tuesday.
This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand
this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.

MacKeeper may well be the root cause of your issues, remove it completely, reboot and try again.

  • Can't send email from internal server, same domain name as external.

We have a domain "example.com", hosted externally, for email and a website.  We are thinking of hosting email 'inhouse' and have setup a dedicated subdomain on a 'fixed' IP, "mini.example.com" for AFP services mainly. mini.example.com provides DNS internally, its primary zone is also example.com. All access to the external web goes thru' a modem/router that the server is connected to. We have to set an A record for www access to our website.
In our testing to migrate email, the internal setup works fine, until the switch over.  Now we can receive mail to the mini server, but can't send any out.
We instructed our webhost provider to set the CNAME mail.example.com to point to mini.example.com and created a cPanel MX extry mail.example.com, 10 priority.  Previously, the external host had CNAME as mail.example.com to example.com and MX as example.com, 10 priority.
Since the implementation of the CNAME change, we can't send emails out and they get stuck at the outbox waiting. Client Mail app, says to check for port and SSL and account settings.
Any idea where we went wrong here and what we can do to get emails out? We could go to each computer and point-off the DNS to office IP, but we rather not.
    Thanks!

Thank you Camelot and MrHoffman for your replies.
I got in this am to find Mail.app could actually send out emails and I'm stratching my head wondering what happened yesterday.
SMTP server addresss was manually set to mail.example.com for all accounts. In trying to get things to work, the mail setup was redone again by "Accounts", in Systems Preferences, when Login is clicked on, and mail was automatically given a SMTP as mini.example.com instead of mail.example.com.  I'm guessing that that could be where the initial 'inside' problems were, given that it had a 0 answer to the MX query. Or then again I wasn't patient enough.
Just for completeness, and if there's something to learn from here, these are the dig results for example.com as seen from within the office network.

  • I can not send email but i can receive it????

I am having trouble sending email out since i did the update anyone have any ideas??

    Hi wizzard66,
    I had the same problem.
As outgoing server, you need to use the one provided by your telephone company and not the one provided by your ISP.
For example, my carrier is Vodafone Italy and my SMTP is "smtp.net.vodafone.it" (without quotes).

  • MacMail problems, can't send email

I run OS 10.8.4 and have multiple macMail problems, which vary from day to day. Sometimes I have to force quit Mail, lately I usually can't send email out, although I receive email, some days Mail keeps asking for mt email passwords over and over. How can I bring these problems to a halt. If I can find my Mountain Lion original disk, can I selectively reinstall MacMail only?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Since updating my macbook air with OS X mavericks i can't send emails smtp account failed my email host is 123reg

since updating my macbook air with OS X mavericks i can't send emails smtp account failed my email host is 123reg any ideas how to sort it out?

I am having the same issue with Media Temple Email.
My problem in more detail is:
Adding my Media Temple Hosted domain email to a desktop service on my Macbook Air.
I have tried this on both Mac Mail and Thunderbird.
I add the account manually and have checked, double checked, triple checked the server addresss and also the user name and password and they are correct.
I have altered the ports from being default to custom and have tried both SSL and non SSL and still it is unable to connect to the SMTP server.
IMAP inbox is working as I recieve mails but can not send them.
I have chatted to Media Temple and they say it must be something to do with the hardware of the MacBook Air which to start with I disagreed with but I have since tried adding the email to my Mac Mini and it works fine.
I am assuming their is an issue in the MacBook Air with the SMTP ports and I would really appreciate some advice on how to fix this as I don't want to use Webmail for ever.
    Thanks in Advance

  • As of 1:00pm Thursday, 3/1/12, I am no longer receiving any email, nor can I send anything out from my account. I am OS4.1.1, hoping to upgrade next week to Leopard (because my mac is not Intel-based), but in the meantime, it's non-functional.

Is anyone else having problems with the email? I am not receiving any emails, nor can I send anything out. Spent 30 minutes on online chat last night with someone most unhelpful, only to be told that the reason I'm not receiving anything is because my email is being forwarded to another address. I set my preferences to do that several years ago when this mac.com/me.com server began having so many issues, to ensure I was receiving email so I could check from my other address. The only comment I got was well, we no longer support 10.4.1 so there isn't anything we can do to help you. The status update says 33% of their customers are unable to migrate. So I'm pretty sure I'm not alone and that is a pretty large base of customers to no longer provide support to. Is anyone else who has not migrated to iCloud experiencing these email problems? Currently my iDisk works to transfer my larger files, but my email does not.

Hello, here's the fix I think...
I think they're slowly nudging people to switch, .mac & MobileMe are going away about July, may as well set it up now.
I understand .mac mail will still come through.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...

  • Cannot see emails in the inbox, but can send emails out.  why?

I bought the Galaxy S III about 3 months ago, and have been struggling to set up my personal email (my own domain hosted by godaddy.com).  my gmail accounts sync up nicely from day 1.
Today, a tech rep from Godaddy.com suggested that i turn off wi-fi, and set up the account using the phone connection only.  That seemed to work, and i was able to set up personal email accounts (my own domain).
Issues:  i cannot see any email in the Inbox. Every time i hit the button "load up to 50 more messages", the Update icon would spin for a few seconds, but no emails show up.  the message said "account last synced on date..., time....".  still no emails in the Inbox.
    a) i tried using the email software that came with the phone for the  (the icon has an envelope and a red seal in the middle).  the email was correctly set up, i was able to send emails out, but still no emails show up in my inbox.
    b) i tried using the K9 email app (downloaded from apps market, free).  the email was correctly set up, i was able to send emails out, but still no emails show up in my inbox.
Does anyone know what i did wrong?  or is something wrong with my phone?
thanks so much for your help

good thinking.... I'm trying to set up Outlook 2010 on my desktop.  it's downloading emails from the server, but because i have so many emails up there (50K) for the past few years, it's not functioning properly yet.  i can see the emails and i can move them to different folders (10K emails in Inbox at a time, more get downloaded as i move emails out of the Inbox).  but i cannot send emails out from Outlook on the desktop.
wonder if these 2 issues are related.
i can see, receive and send emails directly on the server (web) no problem.
I would try clearing out your inbox as much as possible, and then try it. Maybe it cannot index correctly to download because there are so many. Just a thought.

  • Im trying to send out a word doc and it tells me I need to set up an account with enterage. I already have my email set up with regular mail? How can I send it out through my email that is active?

Im trying to send out a word document via email. It tells me it cannot send because I have not yet set up an account with enterage. My email is active already with Apple regular mail program. How can I send it out through reg mail?

Save the Word document. Create your email in your normal mail application (Mail?), click on the add attachment icon (the paperclip if you are using Mail). Navigate to where you saved the Word file and select it. It should now appear as an attachment in your email. If you are sending it to a PC user and you are using Mail make sure 'Send Windows-friendly attachments' is selected in the edit menu. And if you don't want the attachment to display inline within the body of the email Control+Click on it and select 'view as icon'.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.
