I Can't Send Mail, Odd Error Message

I can't send any mail, hopefully this is an easy fix that I'm missing. I checked to make sure my outgoing mail settings were correct. I've only just recently set everything up, and it was working fine. I sent a few emails with files attached to my sister, and I received this error message before I could send all of the files:
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The sender address [insert address here] was rejected by the server"
Any ideas? I appreciate any help one might be able to give.

Could you check if outgoing mail server is proper set, including authorization?

Let me explain whats happening in the hope of shedding some light on the issue.
When you send out e-mail, the following procedure happens:
1. You create the mail, add recipients/subject etc and press send.
2. Your mac connects to your configured SMTP server
3. The server will ask your computer for its name
4. Your computer returns a string to the server - known as an EHLO/HELO usually this would be the name your computer is set to (for example: mymac.local)
5. The server checks the name that was sent, if it is a FQDN (e.g. server.company.com) it will check the DNS records to ensure the host is valid, then checks its access rules and either allows your computer to send the rest of the e-mail or sends a deny message and kicks you off
Your computer is failing one of the EHLO/HELO checks, the reason for this is that your email client is returning tiscali.co.uk or localhost when the server is asking it for its name.
It is possible that the name of your mac is the issue, it could be a bug, or you may even be using a tiscali proxy server to connect.
What is the name of your mac?

I'm on a pc at the moment but when I get a chance I will look at the strings that Mail returns to my server from my Mac as it could possibly be a bug.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

i have the same problem with my 3gs and tried to add my email acc+pass in the outgoing server but it got rejected.
just bin on the phone(45min) with my carrier support about this issue they are pretty much scratching there head, the settings i should use gets verified with no problems when i add the outgoung server, but still cant send mails.

Odd error message - Can't save new Pages docs

I use Pages a lot and know it pretty well. But today I got an odd error message I have never seen. It is stopping me from using Pages.
Today, when I attempted to create a new Pages document and save it to a folder in my Documents folder (or to my Desktop), I get an instant error message saying, "The file ‘FileName.pages' doesn’t exist." (see below). In effect, Pages will not allow me to save a new file. I can open older Pages files, edit them and save them. I just cannot create a new file and save it. I have restarted Pages and my computer multiple times with no effect on this message.
Anyone dealt with this before?

There you are, Pages 5 can be relied on to not be relied on.
Not much comfort for your previous file though.

Right click your document, hover over "Open with..." and then click "Other".
Find TextEdit and click "Open".
TextEdit will then do it's best to open your document.
If you have iLife, do the same but instead of opening with TextEdit open with Numbers, Pages, Keynote, e.t.c.

You need to check with your ISP whether or not the send mail server (SMTP) requires a password. Some do, but many do not. When you know the correct password to send mail, then you need to tell Mail as follows:
Mail menu > Preferences > Accounts > Select the account
Click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) combo box, and select Edit SMTP Server List...
In the Account Information tab put the server name
In the Advanced Tab, set up the authentication information from your ISP.

I can't send mail via hotmail. I can read new mail, but can not reply or send new messages.

I am using a mac powerbook, 2004 running MAc os x. Yes, I know it is old. But I only use if for e-mail. this week, I can't send or reply to messages via firefox or any other browser. I can't succesfully download updates. Can you advise?

Go to Mail Preferences- Accounts and confirm you are providing Gmail what they require to send and receive mail. And DON'T specify Secure Socket Layer. Some mail accts don't like SSL

I try to send emails after I have recieved. They are hotmail accounts. message says"cannot send mail and error occurred delivering this message. I have tried deleting and restarting. I have tried shutting phone down completely and restarting. no help...

You may need to validate the account with Hotmail. When logged in to the Hotmail account on a computer, there are instructions on how to do this.

Can't send mail... after 4 months of using it

I'm stumped... help me out please.
When i send a mail out, this message pops up, "Error : This Message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. Sending the message content to the server failed."
So it's still in my mailbox. But then, it shows up in my gmail account and on my blackberry as a sent mail, but the receiver never gets it. Also, i can still send mail from both my blackberry and gmail.com... just not from Apple Mail.
What's going on?

Sometimes an ISP provider blocks one of your incoming
Mail ports and "won't notify you". ( Why? probably it's their protection software )
In my case Comcast blocked my Port 25 and my Outgoing kept bouncing.
Incoming was fine.
Make sure when you change your Port to 587,
You also check "ON" the Secure Sockets Layer box right underneath,
Then change Authentication: to Password
Then enter your name and password
and click OK.
The reps at most of the providers
are useless and won't tell you
the second part of the solution.
It took me 2 days and 4 reps
at Comcast to find this out
and 10 hours of trying to
clean my Mac...
which they will always
blame.

Cannot send mail & Connection error after 2.0

Hey guys,
I'm running 2.0 on an 8GB 2G iPhone. After updating to 2.0 in the mail app im getting two errors. The first one is "Connection to outgoing server "smtp.comcast.net" failed" and the second (when I'm trying to send mail) is "Cannot send mail. The sender address was invalid".
For the first error, I remember this being a problem when I first got the phone in January, but I cannot for the life of me remember what I changed in the settings so that it would work.
The second error is new with 2.0.
Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated

I am having the exact same problem. Can't send any emails. Get the message "Can't send mail. Recipient address invalid" or something like that. I have reviewed all the troubleshooting information. This did not happen until I upgraded to 2.0. I am using Edge with a pop account on an original iphone. Any help would be appreciated!!

Can't send mail- password rejected

I just got a new MacBook and after setting up Mail, I can receive emails but I can't send them. I get an error message that reads "The SMTP server “smtpauth.earthlink.net” rejected the password. Please re-enter your password, or cancel." But then when I re-enter the password, it still rejects it. I've read every troubleshooting thing I can find, but nothing will solve this problem. I've checked the outgoing mail server, my user name and password and everything is correct. And I still can't send mail. HELP!
