I can't send mail on ipad 2

I can't send email on Ipad2.  I have a iPad3 and have set up the iPad2 with the exact same settings as the 3 but the 2 will not send email while the 3 will.
It looks like it's going to send with the progress bar but then I get that blue bubble saying the email address was rejected.
Receiving email is no issue.
I'm using the gmail smtp server on port 587 on both.
Any ideas?

  • Can't send mail frim iPad

    My iPad was working perfectly well until suddenly It stopped being able to send mail. Kept getting message saying that I had not entered my password. Double-checked everything,tried setting up the account manually,restoring the iPad software ( it worked for about 30 minutes before going back to how it was).I don't want to restore my iPad every day just to send a couple of emails.
    Any ideas?

    This happened to me when I restored my new iPad2 from my iPad one backup on iTunes.  The problem continued even after I deleted the email accounts and recreated them. 
    The problem is in the iPad mail settings.  Go to the email account settings.  It will show that there IS a password and, if you click on the Advanced button, that the outgoing mail server uses the password.  HOWEVER, click on the SMTP button and you will see a list of one or more outgoing servers.  Then click  on the Primary Server button.   For some strange reason, the password is NOT filled in.  Enter your password and all should be well.

    My email account account(msn.com) was hacked so I changed my passwod at msn.com and then als0 changed it on myiPad under settings/mail.
    Now I cannot send email or photos with email.

    I can send emails if I sign in through Safari.

    Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    I had this problem with MobileMe. When you have a 3G machine... and you start it up out of the box... it requires that you synch it with iTunes so that you can activate it. It shows like an iPhone... then after the 3G simcard is activated, it gets recognized as an iPhone. The problem with this is that it autoMAGICALLY starts synchronizing all your apps. Well, there is a bulletin out by Apple support that says if this happens... you need to delete your account... and re-instantiate it. I tried this... and it did not work. I could receive, but not send.
    I went to the Apple store... (I paid a lot of money for the device and AppleCare... plus the free support) and I asked them to "make it work". I was not freaked about deleting the content as it was synched from my Mac. The long and the short is... If your Mac auto setup...as in migrated your MobileMe settings over from your Mac...they may not be right. I noticed that my iPhone's MobileMe settings and the ones that the iPad were using... were different in terms of internet ports, etc. The Apple store reset the device back to factory new... and then the first thing they did... before synchronizing it was to setup MobileMe. After they did that... everything was fine. Who knew?
    Try that... and that might get you somewhere... Good luck.

    Hello All,
    To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
    Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
    Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
    Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
    When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
    All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
    So this fix worked for me.
    After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
    I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.

    Can anyone help me here.
    My Mail program is acting strangely.
    First I could send email but not with an attachment. Now I cant send at all.  I am using a Google Apps Email account. It was working fine yesterday.
    I also have an iCloud @me.com account which sends mail with the attachments but the sent mail is not showing up in the sent items box.

  • I can't send mails

    This is a little confuse because i can send/recive mails on iphone and web, and i can recive mails on my mac but not send... also happens something weird that i see on message sent inbox on mac/web/iphone mail that i send on mac... so i dont know if this happens by sync or there is really something bad with my email account or for recive my mails people. All this happens only with my icloud account... by the way, sometimes i can't send mails too from my iphone but when i delete and add my icloud account this solve, no the same case on mac

    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
    Restart iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off".

    If you still have this concern: You can only use the alias address linked to the main iCloud account that you backup your iPad to. You can check that going to Setting-iCloud and check the Account email address.
    I think this restriction is rather rediculous. I don't see why we can't configure an alias from a different iCloud account the same way we do for a Gmail account. I hope Apple fixes this in iOS 6.
