I can't send messages to some phone numbers!

Are there some mobile numbers/Telephone Carriers that cannot receive iMessages?  I have a friend who has recently changed carriers and now I cannot send him messages from my iPhone.  Any help would be most appreciated!

What is preventing you from sending him a message?
Settings > Messages - Send as SMS to On, then if they are not iOS 5 device users (and they are registered with iMessage), it will send a standard SMS message.

I can send messages to just about anyone in my contacts but the one I need to most - my wife - doesn't work.  I have deleted her # and reentered it three times but to no avail. Any ideas?

  • Can I send photos to other phone numbers? or take video??

I'm not sure if this just isn't capable, or I just cant figure it out?? Help? Thank you. I don't know how to take videos, or send photos to other phone numbers, or forward text messages...??

The iPhone does not include a video recorder, and does not support forwarding SMS - at the present time anyway.
The iPhone also does not include an MMS client, but you can do the same via email.
Ask the sender of an MMS to address the MMS to an email address for an email account that you access with the iPhone's mail client. The sender of the MMS will enter your email address in the To: field for the MMS instead of your cell phone number with area code. The MMS will be received by you as an email with the photo as an email attachment. If you also access the email account with an email client on your computer, you will have access to the received message and photo attachment on your computer - and the same if you access the email account via webmail using a browser.
This will give you the sender's cell phone MMS email address - included in the From field for the received message. Add this email address to the contact's info in your iPhone's address book. Select a photo to be sent as an email and when addressing the email to this email address, the email with the photo attached will be received by the recipient as an MMS on their cell phone.

  • Can't send messages through my phone number

When I send a message it's sent through my iCloud email and not my phone number. I went into message settings but it won't let me use my phone number as a option to reach me. Please help.

    Hey there Kcamps,
If I understand correctly you are indeed signed into your Apple ID in Settings > Messages, but your phone number is not checked for use  under You Can Be Reached By iMessage At:. I would sign out of, then back into your Apple ID in both FaceTime and iMessage. That should get your number linked with the Apple ID again:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Can I send messaged to non iMessage numbers?

I trying to send messages from my macbook pro running Maverick. Is there a way to send SMS messages to numbers not registered with iMessage?

    Hi,
Well Actually ....  It's a sort of yes, no, maybe answer.
    If...
The contact is in the US on these Carriers then you can use an AIM account to Send SMS to a non Apple Phone.
The phone Number has to be added to your Buddy List as if it were a normal Buddy name but with a leading +1 (As in +1234567890)
    It Only works in AIM
It Only works to those Carriers (despite the +1 it has never been rolled out "worldwide").
There are also other Mac based SMS apps out there.

Check with your cell provider and make sure your texting plan is properly provisioned.

  • I have full signal and have wifi but I'm can't send messages or receive them. I can't make phone calls either.

    HI
I have full signal and have wifi but I'm can't send messages or receive them. I can't make phone calls either. it picks and chooses when I can receive them and make calls. It only works everytime I turn my phone off.

Try turning on Airplane mode for a little bit (20-30 seconds) and turn it back off. see if that doesn't allow you to re-connect.
In my current project my office receives no signal at all. I have to do this almost every time I leave the office in order to get a signal.

  • TS2755 When I downloaded the iOS 7 to my iphone I can only send messages to other I phones?

  • I can't send messages or call people with my NEW iPhone 4s.

    Hello.
I live in Sweden and I ordered my iPhone 4s some days ago, I got it on Wednesday.
Ever since I got it I noticed that I was having problems with my carrier, "Tele2". I can't send messages or even make calls, and I'm very disappointed. And I also can't connect to the 3G network at times, it just goes away, and this always leads to a reboot.
I have to restart my phone every 5 minutes, and THEN I can send about 1-2 messages, then it goes back to what it was before. Crap.
And I also called the people on "Tele2" they said that they don't know if it's the software or if it's the hardware. And that I simply have to wait until they know.
I'm just wondering. Is there anyone out there who's heard anything about solving any problems like these? Perhaps and update to 5.0.1 ? Please let me know, I would appreciate it very much!

They said that it wasn't them, they contacted Apple and they were aware of the problem. But still Apple didn't know if it was hardware of software problems.

  • Updated my software and now I can't send messages from my iphone

I just updated the software for my iphone and ipad. For some reason, I can't send messages from my iphone anymore, and I can send them from my ipad. How do I turn the iphone messenger back on?
    Thanks!

After researching the problem on this board, I turned my cell phone off, and waited 5 minutes. When I restarted it, everything worked! Thanks

  • HT3529 On ipad3, wifi only, how can I send messages to non iOS users?

On ipad3, wifi only, how can I send messages to non iOS users?
I have MacBook, and iPhone 4 as well

Your're wrong on the overly sensitive part. I couldn't care less about android or some other stuff that you are comparing, what i do care about... enough to take the time to explain, is that your view on things colors the choices you make.
You clearly state your decision making process and the marketing is doing their work on you.
You think in terms of comparisons and competitors and that will always get you. The truth is, I'm glad Apple finally focused on how "something makes you feel" with iOS 7. There is so much truth in that one sentence!
There is so much noise out there about screen size, n core processors and price comparisons you can never get a good feel of what the product really is. By the time you figure out you were taken on a marketing hike, a new model comes out and the story starts all over again. (think of the nokia 40 megapixel camera, or the quad core samsung, those are exagerations to impress the consumer) Imagine the size of the jpg's on that phone, all those megapixels with the quality of a phone camera, ridiculous. Soon we will have 12-core phones with 7 inch screens, and people being led into thinking you can do everything on it, "one thing to rule them all", buy now! I saw a woman on the metro the other day with a 6' phone, I swear the thing was almost half the size of her head.
It's almost 2014 and you are complaining you can't send sms(which is a 25 year old technology by the way) with this new device. All your friends are using outdated tech and because you want to talk to them you want outdated tech too. Sms is insecure, easily snooped upon and recorded, the carrier charges for it and charges more for international sms, and so on... and on... internet chat has been free since the 1990s and it's about time it got free on our phones too.
Just forget about it. Enjoy other people taking the decisions, you can't take yourself, for you. Trust them, see if it fits, care about life, act emotionally when you "feel" like it. You deserve that, you are human, take the feeling home with you, share it with others.
Who cares if it's the 2014 edition or quad core... I gave my old iPad 3 to my grandmother so I could call her on Facetime. I bought the iPad Air on a whim, I just "felt" I wanted it. After a couple of weeks she thought about asking me if she could call my brother in the UK too, and how much it would cost. I said it was free, and she looked at me in disbelief. She is now calling my brother weekly by herself... she is 78. Can you imagine that... all I did is give her my "old" iPad.
Buying the iPad Air was the single best decision of my life, not because of the size or the weight or even iOS 7 (i do enjoy them by the way) but because it made me give my old iPad to my grandmother.
She doesn't even understand how it works, I figured it would be too much useless stuff to mention... it just does! Here put your finger here and here, then tap the name... wait for him to answer. Unbelievable!!!
PS. I figured the best gift I can make is give my old Apple devices to people who would never in a million years buy one for themselves. You see them in shops, they are our mothers and friends... they look at the huge prices and they would never give that much to themselves, they feel they don't deserve it. They gave me money to buy all the useless cr@p I ever wanted in my youth, the least I could do is gift them my "old tech" to enrich their lives. Going to buy a 5S soon and give my 4S to someone for free, but it's going to be someone I care deeply about, deeply enough to change their lives.
