Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Can't send or receive mail

I set up 2 gmail accounts, an icloud and a ymail on my ipad. They all send and receive perfectly when I use other people's internet, but my own connection doesn't let me send or receive mail from either the icloud or ymail accounts. THe gmail accounts were fine all the time.
I am able to check my ymail on Safari, but the actual Mail app thingy doesn't work.
I've tried everything, but I"m not very savvy when it comes to ports and all that stuff. I've tried to change internet settings etc but nothing works. I would really like it to work at my house! I've contacted my internet provider but they don't know anything about how to fix it.
Also my apps for gmail chatting and imessage etc don't work at home either, but do elsewhere. I'm guessing something is being blocked but can't figure out what. Please help!

When I try to access my mail, it searches (the icon whirls around) for a while and then reads:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "Hal" or try again.
The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "mail.eisenbergagency.com" on port 25 timed out.
If this error message is accurate, you are using the wrong port for the incoming mail server. Port 110 is the default port used for the incoming mail server with a POP account which should be entered by default when selecting POP as the account type when creating a POP account.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Advanced tab for the account preferences, enter 110 in the Port field in place of 25.
Select OK when prompted to save the changed setting when exiting the account preferences.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings below for the SMTP server.
Enter 25 in place of 26 in the Server Port field but if this email account and SMTP server is not provided by your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet, enter 587 in place of 26 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
Test if this resolves the receiving and sending problems.

  • Can't send or receive mail from certain e-mail address...

Has anyone ever run into an instance where you couldn't send or receive mail to a 1 specific e-mail address? Even after adding the address to your contact list?
Here's my situation. There is one person that is trying to e-mail me, but no matter what they do the e-mail won't come through to my icloud account. I seem to be the only person that's not getting the e-mail and even if someone else forwards or replies to this person it won't work. The first time I noticed it was a thread started by the e-mail address, then forwarded to a bunch of people by someone else. Everyone on the list got the message but me and was responding.. eventually 4 or 5 responses down the line I got someone's response with the chain of e-mails in it. I've tried getting the e-mail forwarded to me by various e-mails. Seems hit and miss. I did find that if I got the e-mail sent to my hotmail account then forwarded to icloud that worked. Trying the same thing through my work e-mail did not. If I tried to send an e-mail to this person originating from icloud to this person and cc'd my work and hotmail account. I didn't get the e-mail in my work or hotmail account nor did the person receive the message. Sorry if this is confusing, tried to make it as simple as possible. Any ideas about what could be going on? Only thing that comes to mind is that there is something about the message that apple is flagging as spam/junk and it never makes it through. (Nothing comes into my Junk mail folder either)
    Thanks,
    -G

checked the ip address of the computer when its connected to the router using the command promt.(example.....ip address: 192.168.1.100; Default Gateway:192.168.1.1).
Open an internet browser (ie, mozilla, netscape,etc.). Type at the address bar the default gateway (192.168.1.1). and you will see a username and password promt for your router. Leave the username blank and use admin for your password, if it doesn't work use the password you setup the router to..
Once you see the setup page.... you'll be at basic setup sub tab under setup. Look for MTU. Set it to MANUAL and LOWER IT TO 1300.  Save the settings. Check your outlook if its working....If its Does't work do this
Go to Applications and Gaming tab.
Look for a port triggering sub tab. type it this way
Application NameTrigger Port RangeIncoming Port Range
    application       triggered range     forwarded range
    E-mai                 l25 ~ 25                   113 ~ 113
forwarded range is equevalent to incoming port rage...
hope this will solve your concern....

  • Mail Account is Stuck in Offline Mode-Can't Send or Receive Mail

A friend's iMac (running Leopard) has a persistent Mail problem. His account is stuck in Offline mode (triangle icon with exclamation point). He cannot send or receive email using the Mail app. His account works fine using Safari. Comcast, the service provider, says all settings are correct.
    Suggestions, please!

    Greetings,
It sounds like the Mail preferences file may be corrupt. Try this:
    Quit Mail if it's running.
Go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.mail.plist file.
Restart Mail and setup the account again; Mail will find the existing account folder automatically. Then see if the problem continues.

  • Can't send messages in Mail, what do I do?

    Hi,
Just upgraded from Panther to Tiger.  I set up Mail, but when I tried to send an E=mail it didn't gop through, instead I got a message saying "Sender address rejected: Not logged in"  I checked, but all the settings are correct, similar to my other computer where Mail does work.  I didn't really use Mail with Panther, so I don't know if it's an old problem.
Any ideas why this might be happening?

    Provider is @aol.com
Checked the Connection Doctor and there are only green dots, stating that the connection is fine.
One says: "smtp.aol.com Connection to server succeeeded, no login required"
But when I try to send mail the error message says: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.aol.com.  Server response is: Sender address rejected; not logged in"
So, that sounds like two conflicting messages.  I'm using the same info on my other mac and it's working there (maul is sending).
I'm just now deleting a lot of old messages, maybe that would help?  Although I don't really think so.
    Any ideas?

Authentication my ISP set to None in Mail---and
tutorial has no such thing authentication for her in
    server settings? Also, under advanced
authentication mine is Password and the tutorial has
........(for password) I assume. We entered her
    password.
We know the ports are important. Hers are set to 25
and 25. SSL is not checked
Help me keep straight on your setting versus hers. For the sbcglobal, in Advanced the Port should be 110 -- this is for the Incoming POP3 server.
In the Server Settings for the Outgoing server, the Port should be 25, and the Authentication set to Password, and the Username entry should be the full email address (this is different for some ISP, but SBC instructs to use the full email address), and of course the Password. In both place where Username is required, it should be the entire email address for her sbcglobal.
Have I missed anything? Do you still have your setup working AOK?

  • Can't send or receive mail at different ISP

    I’m using Mail 1.3 (v606/624).
When I’m at home – using my wireless Airport connection with my ISP - I am able to access my personal POP mail account (which I have through my ISP) and my school POP mail account on my iBook.
When I go to my school (job) – using the school’s wireless connection with the school’s ISP – I am only able to connect (send/receive) to my school account. When trying to access my personal mail account, I am not able to make connection with their incoming or outgoing mail server.
Is this problem unique to me or is this a normal situation? Is there something wrong with how I have configured the account in Mail? Is there something I need to do to be able to receive/send from my personal account at my school?
I haven’t been able to receive a satisfactory reply from my ISP as to why I can’t connect to their servers while using the ISP from my school.
A similar thing happened last summer when trying to access personal mail account from a hotel which offered wireless internet connection.
    Any suggestions/help would be welcome.

Generally, you should be able to connect to and check any email account's incoming mail server to download new messages from any internet connection but depending on the ISP used to connect to the internect at that time, most prevent or have restrictions on using an SMTP server that is outside of the ISP's network or not provided by the ISP.
Since you have this problem when connected to the internet via the WiFi connection at school, you need to check with the school regarding any restructions and not with your ISP.
