I can't send or receive multi-media texts

It just started today out of the blue. Has anyone else experienced this or know what is going on?

Are you unable to receive photos in text messages, iMessages, or both?
Two quick things to check: try restarting your iPhone, and make sure you have space available on your iPhone (Settings > General > Usage)

I can send and receive to any non iPhone user. I can send a message as a text to an iPhone user but if I'm not connected to cellular data or wifi I do not receive messages from iPhone contacts. From what I understand these message should automatically send to me as texts instead of iMessages but since the update it's not functioning properly. Please help. I've tried turning iMessage off and I still don't receive the messages until after I reconnect to wifi.

I have the same problem! Before the upgrade, if I wasn't connected to the internet, any messages sent to me from an iphone would convert automatically to a text message. I have payg tarriff, so I turn cell data off, as it costs too much to use it. I have wifi at home and work, but if I'm out and about, I don't receive texts from iphone users until I'm on wifi. I get them ok from non iphone users. There was never any problem until ios7

Take in phone to a Verizon corp store for a new SIM card. They are free at VZW corp stores.

I have an iphone 4s and everything works except I can't send or receive calls or texts. I called at&t and did some troubleshooting and same with apple
support and it works for like 5 minutes then goes back to same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

If your device is showing signal in the status bar and you cannot do what you describe, you need to contact your carrier again. That is a carrier function. Since AT&T did some troubleshooting already, I suggest you check back with them about the possibility of getting a new SIM card.

Can't send or receive group texts after 8.1 update

I have tried to send pictures to my boyfriends phone (he doesnt have an Iphone) and they wont complete the sending process. I have unlimited messaging with picture messaging as well so I know its not my provider. The cellular data option is on. My MMS and SMS options are on. I also can not receive the pictures he tries to send me. Can someone please help me figure out why this is happening and how I can fix it?

That's definitely strange, bigbadscharfy. We're here to help get all texts coming and going. Let's start w/ the basics! Have you checked under Settings>Messages> Is Send as SMS checked on? This can help send out messages as regular texts and not iMessages. Do you receive any error messages when the texts dont go out or receive?

Is this on wifi or cellular data?
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Have you gone into the email settings and making sure the password are still there?

Hi Have you got WiFi or just a mobile signal If you can get a good mobile signal but no wifi you need a WiFi dongle Not the plug in type the stand alone one you can run upto 5 devices at once You can get one on contact or PAY& GO Ask someone to get one for you from shop go for the best Mobile signal were you need to use it If you are in the UK EE on 4G are best. That's right. You can only send an iMessage to another iPhone. You can send text messages to anyone that has a phone capable of receiving texts.
Edit: Did your original subject say iMessage? I could swear it did. I'm sorry if it didn't. Ignore this then.

I believe the root cause is IOS5.01. same problem on my iphone4s with IOS5.01. Now I have a expensive I-touch! wake up steve.............. I suggest you change your sim cark from 64k to 128k. or just waiting next generation IOS.

My iPhone4 loses signal and when I do hard reset, I can't send or receive SMS and calls. I have to back-up and restore weekly!

It started last month before I ungraded to iOS5. So my network provider advised me to upgrade. It fixed the problem but it happens again after several days. I think there is a bug with the iOS5 coz it happen when it I upgraded. Before I was quite happy with my iPhone4 but now it has become a source of anxiety and stress. I've received a lot of complaints at work coz they couldn't contact me.
