I can't share a photo with email...

When tryinng to send an email using the iPhoto tells me that it can't do it due to a problem with the server..but the email works fine..

Make sure you are using TCP port 587.
Otherwise,
When emailing photos using iPhoto, you are not logging into the mail server to send your mail, you are logging into the iCloud server to send your mail (that's why you won't see a copy in the sent mailbox of your client).  You need to use your iCloud password, when selecting to email photos using iPhoto.  If you select email photos using Mail, then use the same email password you use with your mail client.

  • Can't share Aperture photos with iWork and iLife

I can't see my Aperture photos in any iWork '08 or iLife '08 application. I am running 1.5.4; sharing previews is enabled in Aperture Prefs; previews for my entire Library set to 1280px (and there are definitely previews for every master image). However, I see nothing in any iWork '08 or iLife '08 app – no Aperture 'disclosure triangle' in the Media pane. Nothing. Zip.
I have rebuilt the Aperture database (Command + Option on start-up) for all 242 projects, but still no go.
The only thing I think it could be is that my 'Aperture Library.aplibrary' (all 95GB of it) is stored in its entirety on a different hard drive, with an alias pointing to it from my '~/user/Pictures' folder on my boot drive (which it shares with iPhoto Library). I thought alias' were supposed to be transparent to the OS and the other apps would be able to see my 'Aperture Library.aplibrary' as if it were on my primary drive (i.e., the same drive). Is there a permissions thing happening here?
This one has got me stumped. Any thoughts on why I can't share my Aperture photos with iWork '08 or iLife '08 would be gratefully received.

    Solved it!!!
I just went a little berserk with the plist files in ~/user/Library/Preferences (sorry, not very scientific....).
Interestingly, in addition to iWorks and iLife apps having their own preference files, there is also a file called 'com.apple.iApps.plist'. This was locked for some reason. Anyway, it and all the other pref files got trashed and then the trash emptied. Then I restarted my Mac and opened up iPhoto.
    Bingo!
    Same for Pages, etc.
Thanks to all who took time out of their day to help me -- much appreciated.

  • Can i share certain photos with other iphone users via icloud

i want to share photos with other iphone users via icloud.how do i go about allowing or sharing access to only some of my photos to some people at work

    Hey zubairl,
Thanks for the question. For Privacy, you must be the original owner of the calendar to share with others. Because you are simply subscribed to the calendar, you do not see the option for sharing. To resolve your issue, have the owner of the calendar “share” it with the recipient, or have the recipient subscribe to the calendar just as you have done (if you have access to the public subscription link).

  • How can I share my photos with family with text to ID the photo

I have our families'  photos on CD/DVD/my Mac's but I would like to share them with the rest of the families by way of CD/DVD.  I'm also probably the only one in my family who could id the subjects in the photo's......how can I use text ON the photo so that they are ID'd for those photos I share with them.    Judy

Adding text to a photo is not a feature of iPhoto.
    You can do it with
Preview - already on your machine
    BorderFX - a free plug-in. (http://www.iborderfx.com/iborderfx/)
    or an external editor.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

How can I share all photos with all my devices automatically?

    Hi pampachomski,
I'm a bit unclear on your exact configuration or the devices in question, but from your description it sounds like you may want to look into the new iCloud Photo Library feature:

  • Can we share our photos in the family on different mac´s with Time Capsule?

Can we share our photos in the family on different mac´s with Time Capsule?

It depends on the size and number of photos you are sharing around.
Nothing wrong with putting a copy of the photos on the TC if that works for you. Each person can access the photo just fine like that.
I am not saying don't.. just beware of the risks so do it prudently..
But if the library is too large, you will steal space on the TC that should be used for backups.. if all the computers in the network are backing up to it, don't use too much of the spare space.
Better to buy a firewire drive (or USB but firewire 800 are much faster) and connect it to a computer that is regularly turned on. Share that drive to the network. It will then also be backed up correctly to the TC although again be careful of the amount of files, and still keep a straight copy backup somewhere else.
I am recent convert so workflow on the Mac is not my forte.. so perhaps some of the wiser heads can also drop in and post a reply.

  • HT201317 I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.

How can I share my Photo Stream with my family?  I have a Macbook Pro and an IPhone, and The Cloud.  They have IPhones and Macbooks.

At the moment you cannot share your Photo Stream. Just wait a couple of weeks until iOS 6 and Shared Photo Streams will be released: http://www.apple.com/ios/ios6/#photostreams

  • Can I share my iCloud with my family in another state?

Can I share my ICloud with a family member in another state?

What do you want to share with the family member?  If each of you have their own iCloud accounts you can create private Photos Streams that only they can view.  If it's a calandar then you can create a shared calendar between the two of you.
However, as randers4 has warned, if you give them your iCloud ID and password they can get your email, contacts and everything else shareable with iCloud.

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.
