I can't shut off or open any of my pps on my ipad

When I go to shut off my ipad, it will not let me slide to shut off. I ask Siri to open something on the web and there I can move things and tap on things. I go to my home screen and I can't open any apps. I was hoping to be able to shut ths off and reboot, but I can't. Is there any other way to reboot this??

If you're unable to turn off your iPad, you can try resetting it by holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons until you see a silver Apple on the screen.

You're saying this is happening on a Mac?? Find My iPhone is a feature of iOS devices, not Macs. If you are trying to change the iCloud ID on an iOS device, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. My iPod will not shut off, or perform any of the 5 R's. The screen is illuminated with no logo's at all. I try to reset the ipod with menu and select buttons and it beeps after 7-10 secs. This happened when i inadvertantely unplugged the ipod while trying to upgrade. I thought the upgrade had stopped or was having a problem. Can someone please help before i have a very expensive 60 gig frisbee!!!

In your Start menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".
In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Disabled":
... and click OK.
Restart the PC and try launching iTunes. Does it open this time?

Apparently now Mozilla creates new versions of their browser and email apps every two weeks instead of just creating updates... I'm tired of all of the pop-up requests for these constant installation requests and all the problems that the new version installations create... I just want to use the software and be left alone.
I can't find a way to make Firefox and Thunderbird stop with the pop-up requests for new installations... is there a way to do this or has Mozilla just got it rigged so one can't just use the software without re-installing a new version every two weeks and running in to new plugin issues and missing features every time?

you can disabel it from being activated form the lock screen and within apps. got to Settings> Control Center to find those controls. There is no way to disable Control Center from the activation while on the home screen

A little more information would be helpful.
What version of Pages are you using? The latest is 4.1 with the update released on July 20. In Snow Leopard 10.6.8 you need at least Pages 4.0.5. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
If you are running at least Pages 4.0.5 & haven't made any other changes to your Mac since Pages was last working correctly, the likely culprit is corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences & delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plst & restart Pages.

MacBook froze - can't shut off

I'm a relatively new mac user. I had put a DVD into my macbook, and it started playing the video, in full screen. I hit the esc key, thinking it would switch to a window, but that's when it froze. Can't eject the DVD, and none of the methods of restarting worked. Screen has not gone blank.
I also had a separate VGA monitor connected, where I had a safari window open at the same time.
Any suggestions, or should I just take it in for service?

Press down on the Power button and hold it for 6-10 seconds until the computer shuts off. The DVD should eject automatically when you restart the computer or you can hold down the mouse button after the chime until the disc ejects.

How can I turn off the "open in tabs" in Fireworks CS4?

I found out how to do it in Phoroshop CS4 ( preferences> interface, uncheck "open documents in tabs) but I can't find an option to turn off the "open in tabs" for Fireworks. I realize that I can open documents in tabs and then drag them apart, but it would be much preferable to have each document open in it's own window as they have in previous versions of Fireworks. I frequently need to compare documents side by side and tabbing back and forth is doesn't work for me.

Are you on Windows or MacOS X?
For Windows version, not sure this can be done.
On Windows XP, see this example path:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS4\English\Fireworks CS4 Preferences.txt
Close Fireworks CS4, then open this file Fireworks CS4 Preferences.txt with Notepad and find key:
<key>OpenNewDocumentAsTabs</key>
<bool>true</bool>
Change the "true" to "false", save the file. Open Fireworks CS4, and see if there's any difference...
On Windows XP, I do not see any difference. But I see that once I have floated one of the files open, all the next files I open, become floated too (not opened as tabs!). So this may help you maybe?
If you are on Mac OS X, search for a similar preferences file for Fireworks CS4 and see if it helps you edit "OpenNewDocumentAsTabs" key from "true" to "false".
Not sure if this helps you much but at least I tried...
If nothing helps, this is my suggestion:
1) Open Fireworks.
2) Open a file, "float" it away from the tabs area and it will be un-docked and then, all other files you open later, will be not opened as tabs...
