I can't stand photo stream...help

Hello,
Now that photostream is on all of my devices, I can't figure out how it is supposed to work.  some of my photos are just under the photostream heading in iphoto, some are organized by date, and some are in both places.  How do I fix this.  can I just turn it off.  I just want my photos, organized by date, like they used to be.  Currently if I don't see them under the right date I check photostream, but I'd rather they were all organized in one place.
thanks
Brett

Yes, just turn it off. You do this in the SystemPreferences.

  • Can I disable photo stream from select devices that are connected to my iTunes account?

Hello,  I was wondering is there any way to do this because I have three iPads connected onto my account, one is in another country and one my parents own, but for my personal one, I would like to disable this feature so my pictures don't get uploaded. My parents like to see the photos being taken by family in another country and I would like those two devices connected only.

You can turn off photo stream on one device without effecting the others.  If you want to keep the photo stream photos on the device you are going to turn it off on, you will need to same them to your camera roll before doing so.  To do this open the my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  Then go to Settings>iCloud>Photos and turn off My Photo Stream.  This will delete the photo stream photos from this device, but not the others (and you already saved copies of these photos to your camera roll so they will still be on your device).
The other two iPads that are signed into your iCloud account with photo stream enabled will still be sharing the same photo stream but you will no longer see it, and your photos will no longer be added to the stream.  They can still share photos with you by adding them to a shared stream and inviting you as a subscriber (as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).

  • Can't activate photo stream in iPhoto

    Hi
It seems that I can't activate photo stream in iPhoto. When I try to click "Activate photo stream" in iPhoto > Settings > Photo Stream it uncheck itself right away. Realy frustrating. Anyone else having this problem?

    Jepp, same problem here.
Photo Stream enables/activates  on both my iPhone and Macbook Air, but not on my iMac desktop. Enabling it in System and iPhoto Preferences is not possible ...
    Very annoying.
Will check some other help forums too to see if a solution is available ...

  • TS3988 Can't access photo stream and icloud, despite having the right id/password

I can access icloud online, and on my macbook pro. But for some reason, I can't access my storage preferences (it says: Details not available), nor can I access photo stream. I get an error message that says:
Photos for the iCloud account “[email protected]” cannot be accessed. Review your account information in System Preferences.
    When I click on 'review'
I can also see my storage settings (after inputting my password), and everything is correct and up-to-date. Yet it won't load the storage details.
I also don't want to sign out, because I get messages telling me that everything on my mac will be deleted, and I don't want to lose anything.
    What now?
    Thanks for your help,
    Lutz

You aren't supposed to be able to access photos at iCloud.com.
To enable photo stream in iPhoto enable system preferences > photos and follow on screen instructions.

  • HT201317 can not activate photo stream on my Mac

I have iPhoto 11 v 9.1.5 and OsX Lion 10.8.3 but can not activate Photo Stream on my Mac because it is not activated. The place to check activation is faded.
    Help?

You need iPhoto 9.2.2 or later for Photo Stream and 9.4 or later for Shared Photo Streams:
The following is from iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later
Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
PC with Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.1 or later
You can still use Photo Stream without Shared Photo Streams if your devices meet these requirements:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.1 or later
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or Aperture 3.2.3 or later
PC with Windows 7 or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel v2.0 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.0 or later

  • Can't find photo stream on iPhoto

When I first had my iphone in September 2012, my photos were downloaded directly to my macbook through icloud.  Now, I can't seem to see the photos I took on my phone on my computer.  Does anyone know why it would stop working?  Do I need to update iphoto?

Here's what you need to use iCloud and Photo Stream:
What do I need to use Photo Stream?

Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.0 or later
The above is from this Apple document: iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
If your MacBook meets these requirements then try the following:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • Can I add photo stream albums to SkyDrive

Can I add photo stream albums to my SkyDrive albums?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photos in the camera roll are those which (in most cases) are taken on the device, the photostream album contains photos which have been synced from photostream in the cloud, which can include photos from your camera roll as well as from other devices using photostream. Photostream photos can be lower resolution than the same photos in the camera roll.
Photos in photostream can be edited and saved to other albums.

You are logged in to your iCloud account on your iMac, right?  If so then disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • Can't cancel photo stream upload activity

I recently moved to Aperture and imported all my photos (27,000 of them).  I then realised that with the default settings all these images were being uploaded to photo stream and then continually deleted from photo stream when it hit the 1000 max.  Rather pointless and a large use of bandwidth.  I have now turned off the "Automatic upload" preference:
but I still have a problem because the activity is still trying to complete.
I can see the Photo Stream Activity in the Activity window and can Pause it no problem.
But I can't cancel it!  Clicking the Cancel Task button does nothing.
And if I restart Aperture the activity starts again automatically.
How can I cancel this activity?

Try my app, it closes photostream until you re-open iPhoto
