I can't sync calenders successfully

Please help. I can't sync calenders successfully. I'm using Outlook on XP and syncing to iPhone via USB with no problems. Now have a lovely shiny new i Pad and am trying to sync that with the i phone over i Cloud. I seem to be ending up with either multiple calenders, or some showing on one device and not the other.
It is proving extremely frustrating!
I would like just on calenders synced over the three devices. I don't need one called calender and another called work etc etc.
Any input gratefully received..

Hi burro!
What exactly appears to be happening when you try syncing games to your iPod?
Do you get any error messages? If so, please quote what it says, and when it happens.
As a basic iPod-game-syncing troubleshooting step, is your iPod a Fifth Generation iPod? If it is not, then sorry, it won't be able to play these games from the iTunes Store.
If you're not sure about your iPod model, see if this article helps you determine that:
Identifying iPod models
If you do have a Fifth Gen, then is its firmware upgraded to at least 1.2? (Preferrably, you would want the iPod's firmware to be updated to 1.2.1, which is the latest version, since that update fixed some problems that 1.2 brought on).
Also, if you are getting a message that says something like "you are not authorized to transfer games", then you'll need to authorize your computer.
To do that, from the "Store" menu in iTunes, click on "Authorize computer...", and follow the steps from there.

  • 10.3 to 10.5 (can't sync calenders etc to iPod

    Hi there,
I just finished upgrading my internal hard drive from OS X 10.3 to 10.5. The only thing that seems to not be working is that when I plug my iPod (5th gen) into the computer it DOES sync with iTunes fine BUT the iPod does NOT sync with iCal and Address Book. Back when I had OS X 10.3 running; I would plug my iPod in via usb and the iSync application would start up and sync the calenders and addresses while at the same time iTunes did it's thing.
I've tried opening up iSync and trying to add my iPod as a "device" but it does not seem to see the iPod any more. Any ideas on this?
    thanks,
    Morris

I FIXED IT GUYS. ITS OK. LOL
    To fix it go to:
Edit tab> Prefrences> devices tab> click "reset sync history"

  • Can I sync my calenders and contacts on multiple computers without storing data in the cloud?

I have multiple Macbooks and IOS devices. Can I sync Contacts and calenders over all machines without using the Cloud. Perhaps over my own wiFi network? Anyone have any answers?

You need to first back up your iPhone with iCloud and/or iTunes. When you Set Up as New iPhone, it will be erased of all the data, and be like a New iPhone. Then you can Restore your previously saved data from iCloud or from iTunes on your computer. But back up first.

  • Can I sync my iPhone and my wife's iPhone calenders through the same iCloud account? Or do I need to set up 2 different apple id's anc iCloud's

Can I sync my iPhone and my wife's iPhone calenders through the same iCloud account? Or do I need to set up 2 different apple id's and iCloud's

No, I would recommed to use two separate iCloud accounts for mail, calendars, notes, reminders, contacts etc.

  • Can't Sync after IOS5 Upgrade - Device driver software was not successfully installed

I upgraded to OS5 and now can't sync. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and rebooting and still get an error saying Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was not successfully installed. This is on Windows7 64bit Anyone else had this problem?

I am still having issues completing a sync with my iPhone4 regardless of which USB port I use. I started the upgrade to iOS5 and the update to the phone completed. However, I am unable to get the phone to sync to load all of my apps to the phone. I have tried unstalling and reinstalling iTunes, including deleting any files which may have been missed by the uninstall. I have repeated this process over 5 times using IE, Chrome and Firefox just to make sure it was not a driver issue. Every time, when I connect the iPhone, I get the message it is installing the device driver for iPhone, following by the error mssage "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver Failed" Does anyone out there have any ideas?

  • TS3999 I am receiving an error message "setup can't continue because outlook isn't configured to have a default profile" I have checked all defaults are on in outlook. Please help, can't sync my calenders or contacts, but the email works fine in outlook.

Can't get my Icloud to connect to outlook. Error message - setup can't continue because outlook isn't configured to have a default profile.  Help! Can't sync my contacts or calender with my other devices. Email works fine.  Steve

I've looked at the Microsoft support info and it doesn't reveal anything new. I looked up the eM Client software and have decided to give it a try. I've been using Thunderbird and Gmail for years, but the issue of keeping contacts in snyc accross platforms led me to try Outlook as supposedly compatable with iCloud. Thanks for eM Client tip. It seems to work well and I'll be testing it for the next few weeks. While I'd still like to be able to solve the issue with Outlook (I'm not used to being defeated by software), I've got plenty of other things to keep me busy and a working solution is the priority here.
    Thanks for the tip!

  • I am having a weird problem with my phone every since it was updated this last time. I can sync movies from my computer to my iphone but any movies I buy with my phone I can not sync to the computer. But I redownload it to the computer and can then sync.

I for the first time since buying my iphone and ipods for almost three years am concedering getting rid of them as I am getting tired of this problem. I can sync anything from my computer to the iphone. I can not sync movies bought on the iphone to my computer. I have tried everything and spent days trying to trouble shoot. I literally have bought hundreds of movies off Itunes but will not buy any thing else until I can figure this problem out. I have uninstalled Itunes reinstalled, troubles shooted using the itunes trouble shooter and reset my phone and nothing works.
When I try to sync from my phone to the computer it says it can not be done because the iphone is not hooked up to the computer. I have only had these problesm since the new update not before. I have bought new cables twice to see if it helped and has not. Both my kids have Ipods, I have a Iphone and was planning on buying two Ipads for the kids for Christmas but not if I can fix this.

You are correct.  Syncing should transfer any purchased media, including videos, from your device to your iTunes library provided your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to make these purchases.  You mentioned that you have uninstalled iTunes before, but if you didn't follow this guide exactly, uninstalling iTunes and all of its components in the order specified, it may not have been successful so you should try again:  Windows XP or Windows Vista/7.

  • Can't sync iphone in iTunes and can't connect to wi-fi

Since my last update to IOS 5.1.1, I can no longer connect to wi-fi via my home router, nor can I back up my iPhone in iTunes.
Regarding the wi-fi connection, I receive a message stating that the wi-fi password is incorrect.  I have tried multiple times to carefully enter the correct password, but keep receiving the same error message.  We have two other iPhones and an iPod Touch in our household and all three of them have no trouble connecting to our home wi-fi using the very same password.  My iPhone does, however, connect to other wi-fi systems, so I know it is not a hardware problem. I have tried resetting network connections, but that did not rectify the problem.
Regarding backing up my iPhone in iTunes, I keep getting a message that "an error occurred", but no other significant information.  I tried to update iTunes from version 10.6.17 to 10.6.3, but the update kept failing.  I eventually removed the iTunes software from my machine and re-loaded it from scratch.  This worked and I now have iTunes version 10.6.3.25 on my machine.  When I try to sync my iPhone, however, I still get the message stating that "iTunes could not back up the iPhone "Steve's iPhone"  because an error occurred."  The progress bar across the top of the screen appears to indicate that all 8 steps of the sync process continue to complete, but when finished, the message at the bottom of my screen still reads "Last backed up to this computer: 6/1/2012 11:57 AM".
There was a diagnostic option which eventually indicated that a "Secure link to iTunes Store failed".  I then tested this by searching the iTunes store and downloading a new app - which worked just fine, but for some reason I still can't sync my phone.  There was an additional option to print out the details of the diagnostic test, which I did.  The following are the only two lines in the detailed diagnostics that seemed to indicate any sort of problem:
"Connection attempt to browsing iTunes Store was unsuccessful"
    "The network connection was refused"
Ironically, the last line of the diagnostic printout reads: "Sync tests completed successfully".  Unfortunately, I still can't sync or backup my phone.
         Thank you,
         Steve

Also, what version of iTunes are you running?

  • I can't sync my iPod after upgrading to iTunes 7 - Help!

I'm running an Intel 20" iMac with all of the latest software updates applied.
My iPod is a 30GB iPod Photo (4G) running software version 1.2.1.
I upgraded to iTunes 7 last night. Since then, I can't sync my iPod. Here's what happened/happens...
I installed iTunes 7. On first run (iPod disconnected) it checked for album art and ran through my library to determine the zero gap playback info. That all happened successfully.
When I connect my iPod (which is set to auto update), it recognizes it, and show the status page (also shows up in "devices" in left pane) and immediately a small window pops up with the text "Updating library on 'Evan's iPod'". The progress bar gets to somewhere between 30-70% and then hangs.
I left it running all night and it never finished. My only option was to Force Quit iTunes. Once I did, my iPod was still fine, and had all my music on it, just nothing new.
I've tried rebooting my computer and iPod, to no avail.
I would try reformatting my iPod, except that you can now (seemingly) only do that through iTunes (as opposed to a separate updater as in the past). Since iTunes locks up as soon as my iPod is connected, that doesn't help me much...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Evan

Ok... I just tried connecting my iPod directly to a USB port on the computer rather than via the USB hub I was using and everything is fine. Odd, but I'm happy now.

  • Help!....I'm going nutz!  I can't sync......

This has been an ongoing problem. First some facts:
Computer: MacPro tower, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory: 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    OS: 10.5.8
    iTunes: 9.2.1
    iPod: 5th gen, 60 gig, ver 1.3
Software Update says everything is up to date.
Previously, I could not even get the iPod to show up in iTunes. This was after a long extended period of no syncing attempts as I was happy with things as they were. At the time, I was running the version of iTunes just previous to 9.2. When I finally decided to add some more tunes, I tried syncing and nothing. 'Couldn't even get the iPod to show up. Neither mine or my wife's 4th gen Nano. I forget the order things happened in, but after a long call (3+ hours) with Apple, we tried a bunch of things including a complete and comprehensive uninstall of iTunes and installing from the Apple website 9.2 (latest at the time). We finally got the iPod to show up on the desktop and in iTunes, but when it tried to sync, nada. Just the spinning beach ball. And if I walked away and left it running (as some have suggested), it would eventually just show a bunch of error messages. Sometimes it would add one or two or three songs then hang. Sometimes it would hang trying the first. And waiting did no good. Both iPods. In desparation, I went a bought a brand new iPod and tried syncing it as well. No luck. I'd tried Restore on both iPods and the process started, then hung as well, and completely buggered the iPods. My wife was leaving on a long trip the next morning and that's why I bought a new iPod. We finally synced her iPod to her MacBook and all was well, even though it was a much older music library.
A few days later, as I was fooling with things again, I decided to upgrade all the software that the updater program said I had to do. This was a bunch of things other than iTunes as I'd already upgraded that in the earlier attempt. I then tried syncing my 5th gen and wonder of wonders, it synced. Same with the old Nano my wife left behind. I thought all was well, but no.....
A few weeks later I went to sync and add new tunes to my 5th gen and no luck. Same problems as before. I ran the software updater and updated all it said to (not much) and still no luck. Then yesterday, after a month or two, I decided to tackle the problem again. This time I noticed that there was a 9.2.1 upgrade. So, I went to the Apple download site, downloaded it, and installed it. Still no luck. I then searched the web and my own brain for things to try. Here's a partial list:
I completely uninstalled 9.2.1, got rid of AppleMoblieDeviceSupport.pkg, got rid of AppleMobileDevice.kext, restarted, emptied trash, restarted, and then completely reinstalled 9.2.1. No help.
I tried syncing with the computer rebooted in Safe Mode. No luck.
I tried syncing with the computer AND iTunes in safe mode. No luck.
I've run the disk utility and checked for and repair any Permissions errors. There were a few but mostly printer related. None that seemed related to iTunes.
I checked permissions on all my iTunes folders as well as on the iPod.
I've tried different USB ports and tried using a powered USB hub as well. No help on all of these.
I finally got my 5th gen to sync by removing all the stuff that I'd tried to add before (the stuff it was trying to add and got hung up on.) Finally, when the library matched the contents of the iPod, it says it synced. Then i tried adding one album. No go. And it didn't matter whether I dragged and dropped from my other internal drive, used the Add to Library function, or imported a new CD. Nothing would sync. Then I tried removing some existing songs. I deleted them from both the library and the music folder. Then sync was successful and the songs were deleted from the iPod. But, when I tried to add the very same songs back onto the iPod, it wouldn't work. It's driving my nutz!
Here are some of the many error messages I eventually get. Some appear if I just let iTunes sit long enough trying to sync. Other pop up when iTunes freezes up trying to sync and I just unplug my iPod in order to unfreeze iTunes. At these times, Quit, Force Quit, etc. does not work.
    The various messages:
Attempting to copy to the disk "Martin's iPod" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. OK.
The iPod "Martin's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to. OK.
iTunes could not copy "Love Me Do" to the iPod "Martin's iPod" because an unknown error occurred (-5000).
The iPod "Martin's iPod" cannot be synced. The required file is in use. OK
The iPod "Martin's iPod" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found. OK
iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "Martin's iPod". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore his iPod to factory settings. OK
I even was able to change the iPod to work as a hard drive and when I tried to copy a jpg or Simple Text file to it, it gave me this error message:
The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "IMGP2082.jpg" could not be read or written. (Error Code -36) OK
So, I'm at my wit's end. If you folks can't help me, I'll just have to haul the darn computer and iPod down to the Mac store and have them solve it for me. Fortunately, I have the 3 year plan.
But I'd prefer not to have to do this.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

    Bump......
Nobody has any ideas?? Apple people??

  • 3G iPhone, can't sync using .Mac (also can't upgrade to iTunes 7.7)

Just got a 3G iPhone (totally new user), was activated at the store. Have a working iPhone in terms of phone & web.
However, I'm trying to get my .Mac acct (which has been automatically upgraded to Mobile me) to sync the 3G iPhone over my Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz. I follow the directions: goto System Preferences, click on .Mac (there is no icon for MobileMe), enter my .Mac username/password, click on Sync tab,
    waiting..waiting
finally comes back with "There was a problem with the sync operation. .Mac login failed"
Is this an issue with server overload? (because of heightened 3G iPhone craze)
Another thing. I have a PC laptop runnings Windows Vista & tried to upgrade iTunes 7.6.x to 7.7. Failed on 2 successive attempts! (very rare, most of my Windows app installs go hitch free). Is this also a "server overload" issue, because of the heightened traffic due to iPhone craze?
However, I was able to download/install the entire iTunes 7.7.0.43 Also, on my other PC laptop I was able to successfully load/install an entire iTunes 7.7. This seems to imply some problem with Apple servers doing updates.

I successfully sync'd, using Mobile Me [ control panel ] on my PC laptop, after I downloaded iTunes 7.7
Why it won't do it over System Preferences/.Mac on my Powerbook 1.5Ghz G4 is...??

  • Can't sync iTunes music to an iPad?

I am a student with a school issued iPad.
When I got my iPad a year ago, I backed it up to the my apple ID. I didn't sync anything to it.
So, now, nearing my next year in school, I wanted to sync my old content to my iPad. I successfully backed up all my apps for school to the computer to my account. However, when I wanted to sync my old data to my iPad it gave me this message:
The iPad (my iPad) is synced with another iTunes library on “Macintosh.local”. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library?
An iPad can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPad with the contents of this iTunes library.
On an important note, the music I am trying to import is my Dad's. He transferred (I don't know how) all his music to my account a few years ago. This possibly could be the source of my problems. However, I'm pretty sure it's considered to be my music now. It's under my library and my apple ID. If anyone knows how I would be able to sync my music that would be great. However, if there's any risk of me losing data stored on my iPad I don't want to take the risk. This is a school iPad so I have documents that are a lot more important then my old music.
    Thanks.

Purchase Mac OS X 10.5 on DVD if you have an iBook G4 or Mac OS X 10.6 on DVD if you have a MacBook. Places such as Amazon sell Mac OS X 10.5, while Apple sells Mac OS X 10.6.

I recently replaced my dead airport router with a Netgear91-5g router and synced it successfully to my Lexmark Pro 915 printer and my computer; yet when I try to print wirelessly I get the message: "printer not connected; printer offline". Lexmark support verified that my printer was connected to the new router and the problem was with the computer's printer configuration and they could reconfigure it online if I paid for their "Premium Support" services ($119 for one year, 3 fixes). I declined, feeling sure that this is something I could do if I knew how. Could it be an incompatability issue with OS 10.8.3?

You saved me $$$ that I can ill afford on my fixed income. I was very unhappy with the "support" from Lexmark... what a rip off!  Thank you dwb!

  • An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time

I recently bought a MacBook Pro, and I figured it would be pretty simple to move my iPhone to sync with iTunes on the Mac from iTunes on my pc, afterall it is the same program and both are designed for the iPhone.
I have been successful in getting the Contacts and Calendar to sync, but the Music, Applications, Video and a few other things give me this message when I check the sync box:
"The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase the iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
Obviously, I don't want to erase everything. Actually, I don't care about Music, Videos, Podcasts or Ringtones as I don't have any, but I do care about Photos and Applications. Actually Photos I can reload too, but I don't want to loose the apps I have purchased with the iTunes App Store.
I even tried going back to the PC and unchecking the Sync boxes on it, hoping this might disassociate it from the phone, but now even on that PC I get the same message.
How do I disconnect phone from the old iTunes and be able to sync it to the new iTunes? This should be simple right?

I made an appointment with a Mac Genius and I will say that while it was better than getting to talk to India on a poor quality phone call it was just about as helpful. Sure she was cute and friendly, but I left without my issue resolved and was surprised that I didn't even get a followup from anyone asking about my experience (hence my venting here)
Anyway, I found a solution for my issue here: http://tinyfish.net/2008/07/18/how-to-sync-iphone-with-multiple-computers/
This is a real solution to the issue, and has the benefit that I can do this to as many machines as I need and sync at any of them instead of just one. Hopefully, Apple doesn't delete my response since it truly is the answer to the problem and others might be looking for the same solution.

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
