It keeps popping up that I have MobileMe instead of iCloud. I have no software updates available. Help!

follow this:
Launch iTunes
select iTunes Store from the menu on the left side.
sign in via the link on the top right area if you haven't done so already
click the link where you Apple ID email appears, enter your Apple ID password, click View Account, this will take you to a page displaying detailed information about your Apple ID account.
The last item under Apple ID summary should be Computer Authorisations, click Deauthorize All
now reauthorize any computers as needed when the system prompts you.

If the same contacts exist in iCloud and on your MBA then there will clearly be duplicates. Export the contacts from the MBA, (On My Mac account) and then delete the content of the On My Mac account, then join iCloud on the MBA.

Unfortunately, I am now experiencing difficulties when trying to sync my new MacBook Air with my iPhone, which is synchronized to my old Apple ID. I want all of my information (music, pictures, contacts, etc.) on my new mac. How can I sync the two devices? (my phone is synchronized with another Mac) Any help?

I have just purchased and Apple TV box to use with my phone and Ipad. I was just wondering is i can also use my macbook air (late 2010) with it as well. I can stream my itunes through the apple tv and play all my songs but i was wondering if I could mirror the screen onto my TV. I am useless with all the macbook jargon i have seen in other posts so need some simple help. I am operating on Lion 10.7.5. I have read that nwer software could help but i would like to know for certain before purcahsing the latest software.

Yes, but you must update to OS X Mavericks using the Mac App Store. When you do, you will see this icon in the menubar:

Just got a new MacBook Air, and would like to sync (iCal, Contacts) with existing iMac OS 10.6.8, without using iCloud - at least until all the bugs are worked out of iCloud. Any suggestions or words of caution?

None that I'm aware of. I don't know precisely how to sync everything without iCloud but you can copy your data so it is on both machines. Just open adress book, go to File, Export and select Adress Book Archive, save the file then copy and open it on your Macbook Air. For iCal it's practically the same proceedure.

Hi I wondered if anyone could help me as i am new to apple pc's
I have recently got a macbook air and i am trying to have file sharing with both pc's unfortunately whatever i try does no allow both pc's to see each other. If i try the connect to server method using smb then log in screen just shakes and wont accept a valid login offer. The windows pc also does not see the mac in the network which i guess does not help. On several forums there is a suggestion that this used to work on earlier versions of apple os

On the OS X side it's very simple, System Preferences - Sharing - checkmark File Sharing box and then choose the Users and Shared Folders. On the MS Windows side you will need to turn that on too, however I don't use Windows so I can't help. However I was able to find this simple 15 step (saracasm intended) page:

Sync itunes with ipod, imac and macbook air with iCloud

First post this for me in this community so hope format and protocols are okay....however, just installed Lion on my MacbookAir and hooked up to iCloud, then installed iOS 5 on my ipod 3rd gen via my imac (currently running Snow Leopard).
So far so good, re installation of itunes on my ipod was almost seamless and pretty painless, also hooked up to iCloud. Then purchased a couple of Apps on the iPod and noticed an almost immediate upload of the same on my iTunes store running on my iMac - Not yet installed with Lion and therefore not (as far as I was aware) hooked up to iCloud.....is this not a bit odd ??
Even odder perhaps is that the same apps have not shown up on my iTunes running on the Macbook Air.....perhaps explained by the following ??
A further problem is that having recently copied purchased CD content to my iTunes on my iMac, and then synced this to my iPod, once I connected my iPod to my Macbook Air I was told the iPod was synced to another iTunes library (presumably that on my iMac) and so was not able to complete a sync unless I erased the iPod library. Does this mean that I actually have two active iTunes accounts sotospeak, one on my MBA, one shared between my iMac and my iPod ? If so, how do I convert this to one running on all three and if that is possible, presumably the issues of syncing between all, and of downloading apps from iCloud will be resolved ?
Any clues or advice on how to sort this would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Guess also worth noting that all three devices are authorised but I'm wary of re-authorising upon erasing itunes libraries (unless of course the limit of 5 authorisations is not meant to limit the number of times this is done - but simply the number of authorised devices active at any one time).

Can you control a MacBook Air with an iPad?

First off I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I teach in a small rural high school that has decided to implement 1-to-1 technology this school year. All students will be issued an iPad (3rd Gen), and all teachers have been issued an iPad (3rd Gen) along with a MacBook Air (I'm assuming it is whatever generation is currently new).
So here is my conundrum. Our school does not provide all teachers with a projector to use for presentations and such. This means that I have to lug around my personal projector if I will need it in class that day. What I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to control my MacBook with my iPad, while the MacBook is connected to my projector? Ultimately I would like to be able to walk around my room with my iPad in hand with access to my MacBook and projector set up to control presentations, show things from the internet, or whatever else comes up.
I am assuming there is some way to do this, but I really am not sure where to look since I am still fairly new with the iPad. I've looked at apps like iTap VNC, but I am unsure if this is what I am looking for or if there is something else to consider. Any expensive programs (over $20) or equipment is out of the question since I have to pay for it myself and will not be reimbursed. I am unsure if this matters either, but the school is not providing us with any programs such as Keynote or other presentation programs. I am currently using Open Office on my MacBook.
I should probably also add that I have seen questions about using the iPad with a MacBook Pro. I was just unsure if similar solutions would work with this scenario.

You need a remote app. Look at Team Viewer and Splashtop Remote. Both apps will allow you to control the computer from the iPad. I use Team Viewer a little now and then and you do have to get the hang of the movements and such, but both of the apps are for remote access of your computer.

Apple never advertised this feature.
When they announced that iCloud will be available on 2011/10/12, they didn't stated that every features would be running at this date.

How can I sync iCal 4.04 with iCloud/Mobileme?

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8. I also have an iPhone 5s and iPad. I can get the iPhone and iPad to sync calendars automatically using iCloud but when I try to set up my MacBook to use iCloud it shows me Mobileme options but not iCloud. I want my iCal on my Mac to automatically update calendars and contacts just like my iPhone and iPad does. Is it possible or are the operating systems and iCal versions not "high" enough?
I can use the iCloud website to show me an updated calendar but not iCal.
Any ideas?

Yes, I am try isn't. To figure how to sync mail as well, just a pop account. It appears it his cannot be done. The response you received to just setup email directly on the device does not answer the question. Yes, that is easy to do, but does not sync with devices which is the objective. Are there more features coming from cloud??

I am just trying to sync my icloud calandar and Outlook mail etc. All is good on my phone however when i install icloud on the PC all seems fine untill go to sync the contacts, calendars and tasks with Outlook ....it says the icloud controll panel did not install properly. I have tried "repairing"it in the programmes and features, restarting computer etc, but just going in circles ...any advice here?? I read somewhere that icloud does not support Outlook 2013 ..if this is true then any ways around this??

It does support Outlook 2013. Go through the troubleshooting steps in this article under "Troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)": http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999, particularly the section on ensuring the the iCloud Outlook add-in is active within Outlook.

I used icloud for Backup an iTunes Match for Music. Thats the reason why I have not activate my iPhone with iTunes. Now I don´t want sync it with iTunes with cabel/WiFi. But I want the Ringtones from my iTunes Libary to my iPhone. Is this possible over iCloud?

OK, this seemed to work for me. On a contact you see iPhone and iCloud at the very bottom. I apparently said I wanted to keep a version on my phone. To undo this go to settings>icloud>contacts and turn off contacts. When it asks you if you want to keep contacts on the phone say no. Make sure contacts are turned off. Exit out of the contacts app then turn contacts back on. If prompted to leave contacts on the iPhone say no. You may need to repeat for other icloud features.
