I can't sync my music to my new iphone5

I am unable to get any music on my new iphone5.It will sync everything except music.I tried to use the phone to purchase a song and it went to my ipad but not the phone and I received an email to tell me my Apple ID had been used for a purchase on a device not previously associated to my Apple ID.
I have wasted about 5 hours of my life and I am still no further forward,any help would be gratefully received

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.
If that does not help, then you need to connect the iPhone to your computer and use the iTunes app to restore the iPhone to the factory settings.
BTW, the first time a Mac or iOS device uses your Apple ID you will get that notice from Apple so that you will know should someone else get access to your account.

  • I can't sync my music to my new iPhone 5?

    I just switched from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 a few days ago. I backed up my iPhone 4 so that all my pictures, contatcs, calenders, ect. would be put onto my iPhone 5. When i plugged my iPhone 5 into my laptop to restore from the past back up and sync it, I selected "restore from this back up" and chose the most recent. At that point, I got all my contatcs and pictures but I didn't get any music. I've tried several times over the past few days to get my music on my phone and all that I have found is how to get my music that was purchased on iTunes. However, I've bought a lot of music on actual CD's and can't get any of that onto my phone. How can I get my entire music library onto my iPhone 5?? I'm going crazy!

    With the phone connected to iTunes and selected, click the Music tab and make sure the appropriate boxes are checked.

    So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
    So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.
    Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

  • After upgrading to 11.0.1, I can't sync my music or videos

    After upgrading to 11.0.1, I can not sync my music or videos.  I have restored the ipad many times, tried to sync only a few playlists, reset the ipad (restart button and home button).  No problems with contacts, mail, calendars, or apps.  Any suggestions where to attempt fix?

    To the original question of how to sync. If you have tried the usual routes via selecting Playlists from your Device Music page. And/Or Drag and dropping a playlist onto your device and neither work, it may be that your songs are unchecked.
    Right Click on a song in your playlist you are trying to sync. If the entryies at the bottom give you the option to Check selection. Then click this and repeat for all songs in that playlist. You can select all songs in a playlist by Cmd + A
    If you see Uncheck Selection then this is not the cause. It must be something else.

    You can't go directly from the Touch to the Shuffle, but if you can get the music into your itunes library on your computer, you'll be able to sync that music to the Shuffle no problem. You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
    iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

    If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

    my PC has been restored to factory settings, can i sync my music on my ipod with a newly downloaded itunes

    You'll want to copy the music from your iPod to your computer and into iTunes first.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering some of the different methods and software available to assist you with this task.  Once you have successfully copied all your content back to your PC and into iTunes, you can safely Erase and Sync your iPod.

  • Can't sync apps, music or videos on my iPhone4 with iTunes 10.2.2

    I just updated iTunes to 10.2.2 (on 10.2.1 everything was going smoothly) and now it seems that i can't sync anything to my iPhone 4 (fw 4.3.2). I'm using a Windows 7 32-bit OS.
    After selecting any app from the apps tab, iTunes will display the next messages:
    - It will sync the phone just after pressing the apply button;
    - Prepairing to sync;
    - Copying "Angry birds" (this lasts for like 1 second);
    - Determining apps to sync;
    - Finishing sync.
    After this process, on my iPhone, there will not be any new apps installed or any other files (music, videos) copied.
    Any ideeas why is this happening?

    Same Problem but with my iPod Touch 4th gen and that I can't sync my music. I tried re-installing itunes, Creating new playlists, added the music to the playlist then synced but it will not sync my music. I get 'determining tracks to sync' but skips to 'finishing sync'. I can take music off my iPod but can't add it. Fix this apple, this is very frustrating!

    Syncing with iTunes
    Syncing with iTunes copies information from your computer to iPhone, and vice versa. You can
    sync by connecting iPhone to your computer, or you can set up iTunes to sync wirelessly with
    Wi-Fi. You can set iTunes to sync music, photos, videos, podcasts, apps, and more. For information
    about syncing iPhone with your computer, open iTunes, then choose iTunes Help from the
    Help menu.
    Set up wireless iTunes syncing: Connect iPhone to your computer. In iTunes on the computer,
    select your iPhone (under Devices), click Summary, then turn on “Sync over Wi-Fi connection.”
    When Wi-Fi syncing is turned on, iPhone syncs every day. iPhone must be connected to a power
    source, iPhone and your computer must both be on the same wireless network, and iTunes must
    be open on your computer. For more information, see iTunes Wi-Fi Sync on page 136.
    Tips for syncing with iTunes
    • If you use iCloud to store your contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes, don’t also sync them
    to your device using iTunes.
    • Purchases you make from the iTunes Store or the App Store on iPhone are synced back to your
    iTunes library. You can also purchase or download content and apps from the iTunes Store on
    your computer, and then sync them to iPhone.
    • In the device’s Summary pane, you can set iTunes to automatically sync when your device is
    attached to your computer. To temporarily override this setting, hold down Command and
    Option (Mac) or Shift and Control (PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar.
    • In the device’s Summary pane, select “Encrypt iPhone backup” if you want to encrypt the
    information stored on your computer when iTunes makes a backup. Encrypted backups are
    indicated by a lock icon  , and a separate password is required to restore the backup. If you
    don’t select this option, other passwords (such as those for mail accounts) aren’t included in
    the backup and will have to be reentered if you use the backup to restore the device.
    • In the device’s Info pane, when you sync mail accounts, only the settings are transferred from
    your computer to iPhone. Changes you make to an email account on iPhone don’t affect the
    account on your computer.
    • In the device’s Info pane, click Advanced to select options to let you replace the information on
    iPhone with the information from your computer during the next sync.
    • If you listen to part of a podcast or audiobook, the place you left off is included if you sync
    the content with iTunes. If you started listening on iPhone, you can pick up where you left off
    using iTunes on your computer—or vice versa.
    • In the device’s Photo pane, you can sync photos and videos from a folder on your computer.

    How can I sync my music from my Ipod to my computer

    iTunes sync is one way from your computer to your iOS device.
    You will need a third party software such as TouchCopy to do that.
