I can't sync my photos to my iDevices anymore.

I have gone round and round with the Geniuses at the Glendale store didn't help (they don't understand what's happening either), and getting help on some of the Discussion Groups can be limited at best.
The problem: I cannot sync my Aperture galleries since the switch to Mavericks/IOS 7, and the problem is a little more complicated than you might think.  This isn't rocket science.  This is something I've been able to do for years prior to the upgrade.
How did I attack the problem?  Well, the first thing I did was take care of my the Aperture Library.  I was having a hard time even repairing the Library wihtout it quitting midway through the procedure.  I repaired the external harddrive I keep the Library on by repartitioning it, and giving it a new...what's the word? Core?  After that rebuilding the Aperture Library was no problem.
Two, I rebuilt my iPad from scratch.  Blew out all the software, reinstalled everything.  (I was about to do the same for my iPhone).
Now, the first thing I did with the clean iPad was install on two Photo galleries.  But instead of selecting the Smart Galleries I've had been syncing for years, I used the regular galleies for my photos.
Thing worked like a charm.
Then once I got that going, I decided to switch back over to the Smart Galleries.
And then, all **** broke loose.  My Photos wouldn't just not sync.  The photo tab on iTunes would permanently hang.  Room is taken up on the iPad showing photos on the drive, but no photos are there.  Overall iTunes will hang and crash.
It's the Smart Galleries.  iTunes/Mavericks will NOT sync Smart Galleries to whatever iDevices for whatever reason.
Then it gets weirder.
I use multiple Aperture Libraries.  Look at one for one kind of work.  Look at another for my own stuff.  I only sync my iPad with my stuff.  I just look at the other gallery.  Just so we're clear, I'm not syncing with two Libraries.  I just sync one...and do it consistently.
But just viewing another Library, will break whatever sync set up I have between the iPad and Aperture.  This was never a problem before.  Aperture is built to handle more than one Library.  Flipping back and forth shouldn't be any big deal.  But it is.  Again, if I view a second Aperture Library, and then sync my iPad with iTunes.  All my photos disappear off that iPad.  Consistently.
I can't say they're erased, but my ability to view them on my iPad is taken away.
I have a Library of some 11,000 pictures.  My iPad has traditionally been able to handle that no problem.  You work with as many photos as I do, having seperate libraries is a necessity.  Being able to swap among various Libraries was a plus for working with Aperture.  It's why I bought it.  But now I have an Apple Product (Aperture), being damaged by another Apple product (Mavericks), and I'd kinda like to hear what Apple is going to do about this, because being able to replicate this problem...is a bug.  And to do what I need to do, show off photos, work with Libraries, I kinda need this bug to go away.

it had to do with Maverick/Aperture not supporting the same date formats as before in Smart Albums when I upgraded.
Smart albums based on dates have always been problematic, if you use smart settings that require a date string to be entered. How the date string will be interpreted, will depend on your settings in the System Preferences > Language&Text > Advanced > Dates formats and the "Region".
It is much safer to use "Calendar" rules in Aperture instead of "Date" rules with date-strings. Calendar rules will remain valid, if the region settings are changed in the System preferences.

  • ITunes can't sync my videos into my iDevices anymore!! :((

    Hey guys,
My iTunes (v10.3.1.55) can successfully sync everything to my iPhone4/iPad2 except the new added videos (movies tab) though they're mp4 100% compatible!!
even though they just don't appear in their playlists anymore
FYI, I tried the following with no luck at all !!
    1) Uninstalled/Reinstalled the itunes completely
    2) Deleted (iTunes Music Library files) & created a new one
    3) Checked (Content Restrictions) in iTunes & my iDevices
    4) Checked (movies tab) options & checked (sync only checked songs and videos) option
    5) Backed up & Restored iPhone4 firmware
    6) Created a new playlist for the added videos
Have I got another option to do?!
    Please, HELP ME

    Hi,
since my company didn't clear iOS4 yet i'm still using 3.1.3 - and having the problem as well.
But since the problem on my side exists because the file can't be converted at all (manually in the library by right-clicking, neither aac nor mp3 (it is an mp3) I think it can't be related to the sync (in my case). The file seems to broken (only plays threeandsome minutes out of 7 it actually should have).
I defined a "electronic broken" genre and put that song into it since i sync the "electronic" genre and want to keep it that way.

  • Can not sync all photos in Aperture into Iphone 5

I can not sync all photos in Aperture into Iphone 5. It always can sync some photos into 5. Then finish and prompts: "itunes can not synchronize (other)thousands of projects, and see more information in itunes".  That means most of my photos can not seen on Iphone 5, it seems just can't import to 5. Is that the problem of Iphone or the pictures in Aperture, or even just because lack of sufficient space?

  • How can I sync specific photos from folders instead of syncing the whole folder to my iPad?(1 gen)

So I recently synced a few folders from my PC to my iPad 1 and there was a few photos I did not want on my iPad, so when I tapped the photo, the trash button wasn't there. I looked up why that was happening and discovered it was because synced photos can't be deleted from the photo library. So I ask my question, how can I sync specific photos from folders instead of the whole folder? from iTunes to my iPad. If there is not a way for me to sync specific photos from folders, how can I delete the photos I don't want from my iPad?

As King_Penguin has already explained, this isn't possible with the stock Photos app.
As far as photo syncing is concerned, I also recommend PhotoSync, which is an excellent photo (and video!) synchronization tool, should you want to stick with the stock Photos app on the iPad. Should you want something better (Photos is a pretty limited app without sorting, EXIF displaying etc. capabilities and with HUGE storage usage), you'll need to take a look at third-party apps. I too recommend Photo Manager Pro, it's IMHO the best tool. • Can I sync Photoshop photos with tags to Android phone

Can I sync Photoshop photos with tags to Android phone

The easiest method is to get the free Picasa which works well alongside elements and will index everything on your hard drive automatically. Elements tags and captions will show up in Google Picasa and you can sync via an Android app on your phone.

  • Why apple doesn't allow the users just to add more photos from our pcs instead of requiring us to re-sync the existing albums? I can't sync additional photos cause I have my pc  reformatted. =( is there any other way to add these photos? please help me.

I can't sync additional photos cause I have my pc  reformatted. =( is there any other way to add these photos? please help me. these existing photos are very important to me. ='((

Apple has not saidwhy they did it that way and it is against the terms of this forum to speculate on the reasons. It says not to:
"Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions."
The are third-party programs like TouchCopy that I think will allow you to do what you want.  You can import photos via DropBox.  The third-party programs will I know allow you to transfer the photos to your "new" computer.

  • Can't sync Aperture Photos with iPhone under iTunes 10

I've recently upgraded to iTunes 10 and when I go to the photos section under the iPhone sync options, I can select either sync all photos or sync selected projects under sync with iPhoto, but as soon as I select Aperture it greys out the selected projects option, and reports 0 photos in Aperture to sync at all. This also happened when iTunes9 was first released and magically fixed itself some months later. Does anyone know why my Aperture library no longer appears to iTunes10 and how can I get it to find it?
    Cheers
    Garry

I am having the same problem, I cannot select Projects if A3 is selected in iTunes. If All faces, albums and projects is selected the sync crashes almost immediately after starting the image routine.
    1) Deleted the iPod data directory and files - no joy
    2) Repaired, rebuilt database - no joy
    3) Flipped sharing preference bit on, and off between program executions - no joy
    4) Searched database for filenames with symbols in the file name. Found a couple - exported them from my project and deleted the masters - no joy
Then I noticed my facebook folders were syncing files DOWN from facebook and giving them very long filenames. Well, not long in the unix community - but upwards of 50 characters in length. Im wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if this could be the culprit.
In any case - until this is run to ground I am unable to use my iPad for the primary purpose for which it was purchased - as a mobile display of my portfolio.
Going to sleep now - been up for 24 hours. I think I will try deleting my facebook folders completely (from facebook) and then will see what happens.

  • I can't sync my photo folders in my macbook to my ipad

I just got a mac book and trying to resync my ipad. I have all my photos located in three separate folders. I plugged in my ipad and opened up the page in itunes to start syncing. When i went to the sync photos page I can't locate any of my folders even though it's quite odvious they are there. All I wanna do is get my photos on my ipad but pretty hard to do when i cant locate them on the sync page. how do i sync these photos in those folders to my stupid ipad. This is honestly a **** joke   this shouldn't be so difficult  someone please help cause i'm getting really aggrivated really fast

You can't "fix" this problem because you can't sync email messages from the Mac mail app, you can only sync your email account settings. Messages will not sync using iTunes.

  • Can't sync my photo from my iphoto library.

While syncing, an error message (-50) showed up.
After checking around, I found that i can't sync photos from iPhoto because it displayed no albums in my iPhoto library under the "Photos" tab but there actually are albums in my iPhoto.
It remained the same even after i restored my iPod.
    Does anyone know the issue?
iMac 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Success! The problem was due to escaped unicode characters within the AlbumData.xml file. I had first suspected it was the tilde-n combination within many of my photo comments. When I went to grep them out in BBEdit, I noticed an escape sequence for a unicode character in the search string. Unfortunately, replacing them in the AlbumData.xml didn't work. As soon as I would relaunch iPhoto it would put the characters back, which meant manually removing that comment sequence from a series of about 120 photos. Finding a script on Apple's site called 'Speak Comments.scpt' and commenting out the lines for speaking the comment (lines 15-18) and adding the following line before them:
set the comment of this_photo to ""
allowed me to remove the problematic comments from just the set of offending photos without having to do them by hand. As soon as this was done, iTunes recognized my iPhoto libraries and synced them to the 5G iPod without a hitch. The script is available from:

  • I can't sync my photos from an iPad Air to a new Mac?

    Please help,
I can't seem to sync my photos on to the Mac from my iPad Air! I am doing this as I can't delete them off my iPad, and they have made duplicates on some of the photos and not on others!
    Thank you,
    luciewills

Have the photos been taken with the iPad or have the photos been synced to the iPad Air? Photos synced with iTunes to iOS devices cannot be synced back. See this link:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
If the photos have been synced to the iPad Air, you need an external app as JimHDK recommended. Or mail the photos, which will be tedious. To delete them from the iPad after transferring them, sync again with iTunes, but select no folders to sync.
If the photos have been taken with the iPad Camera, you can connect the iPad Air to your Mac using a USB cable and then to launch Image Capture or iPhoto to transfer the photos. But that will not transfer synced photos.

  • Can't sync two photo albums

    Hi,
I'm trying two sync to photo albums from my Windows 8 PC to my iPhone 6, I have two folders 'Jacob and 'Jacob2'.
I can sync either one perfectly fine but when I come to sync the 2nd folder it replaces the first one I synced.
In short, it's only letting me have one folder on my iPhone. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

Your help has been amazing guys, I don't know what I'd do without you all.

  • Can't Sync some photo's

    Hi all,
This is my first post so be gentle. I am having a problem syncing some photo's to my iPhone. It seemed to have started recently. I like to add Images that I am editing to show people work in progress. When I try to sync my photos I get a message "Some of your photo's were not copied to the iPhone because they cannot be displayed on your iPhone". These are images that are no different than any other image I've been able to sync in the past. A secondary issue arises from when I try to get them on to the phone via e-Mail. The image in the e-Mail displays fine but when saved to the image gallery they just fall apart.
I am using Version 2.2.1 of the OS on a 2nd Generation iPhone. It seems like one of the last updates caused it but I can't be sure.Anybody have any idea what's going on?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Have you just updated to IOS6? If so I had a similar issue, but it was also messing up the pictures. Their thumbnails looked bad and many were blank when opened.
    Here'w what helped me:
I deleted the "ipod photo cache" directory on the machine I sync from. This allowed my pictures to sync better (they were all messed up after each sync before I did that step).
I then noticed that even though I had the include video checkbox selected my videos did not sync. I unchecked it then did a sync followed by checking it and doing a sync then it did get all my videos too,
Instead of deleting the ipod photo cache directory you could rename it just to be safe and keep it around
    hope that helps
