Really strange, because I can add it to play lists and play in on my PC, and on my iTouch, but can't send it to my iPad. Any ideas?

figured it out...it's a problem with itunes. I can't even play the music in ITunes. when view the album in iTunes it says have haven't purchased yet. So it looks like there was an issue. I bought the albums and the info came over to iTunes but none of the priveldges, so i can't play any of the song and therefore can't sync to iPhone. I was billed for the albums so it must have been a fluke with iTunes....now to track someone down to help me with that! Thanks.

Ok so the other day I backed up my ipod before updating it with iOS 5... or whatever it is So after it updated it restored all my original apps and music... apart from only ONE artist. It's technically a compilation but i've put it under the common name of Various Artists. I've got the settings on "manually manage music" but whenever I attempt the good ol' drag and drop, it decides it doesn't want to sync. WHY?!
Also, while i'm here - My ipod has been a bit laggy after the update, when I unlock it it often sticks for a couple of seconds. I've reset it a couple of times and it has improved, it's probably 1 out of 10 times now that it get's a bit flustered But it's still pretty **** annoying.
If you can help with either of these then that'd be great More-so the first one but any help at all will be much welcome. Thanks guys for any replies!

You can start the playlist playing in the iPod app and then switch into the Photos app and start your (non-music) slideshow - as you've found out you can currently only select a single track in the Photos app. Whether that will change in iOS 5 I don't know, but you could try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

You can set up an iCloud account on each one (the SAME iCloud account using the same AppleID on each) and then sync via iCloud.

However, an iCloud backup nor sync contains purchased content - that is available for redownload from the iTunes and App stores (so no need to waste iCloud space storing it for you).
So, for purchased content, you will have to download it on each device - just use the same AppleID and download each item on each device.
Without a computer to aid the sync'ing, downloading the purchased content on each device is the only way.
P.S audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded once purchased (all other content can be), so without a computer to save, store and move the audiobook files around, you will only be able to put those on one device - the one you first purchase it on.

Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

I figured this out for my iPad so maybe this will help here for adding birthdays and events from Facebook.
1. Using an iPad open Safari. Don't try using the Facebook app.
2. Once in Facebook click on the link "Events".
3. You will want to hold the iPad in landscape mode versus portrait or make sure you are zoomed out to see the whole page. Click on the icon that looks like an asterisk ( * ) next to the button "Today".
4. Click "Export" from the pulldown menu.
5. A pop-up will appear showing two links that read "export your friends' birthdays" and the other "upcoming events". Clicking either one will make a pop-up appear asking you if you want to subscribe.
6. Click on subscribe. A final pop-up will appear where you can click on "View Events" or "Done". "View Events" will launch the iCalendar app.
