I can't turn off my passcode

Hi, I'm on 7.1.2 and the option to turn off my passcode is greyed out, so now I can't turn it off.
Before anyone asks, I don't even know what a Microsoft exchange account is, and I don't have one. (That was the problem for people on here).
Help, thank you.

Okay I solved the problem.
The Virgin media mobile rescue I was using in Settings > General > Profiles was enforcing a Passcode, therefore greying the option out.

I have a new iphone 5c.  How can I turn off the passcode. Unlike previous models it does not show Passcode under settings - general !!  Can anyone help?  Susie

Thank you Chris.  Yes  I did know that but it was not clear how to turn it off.  All the forums visited said it was under general.  I have since found a site called iAnswerGuy which describes how to turn it off step by step. Thank you very much for coming back to me so quickly.  Susie

  • Can't turn off my passcode lock.

Hi, i can't turn off mu passcode. The section of "Turn passcode of" isn't valid. It is passive and i can't select that.

Lots of companies, if you access your work email from your phone, require that, to protect company information, you have a password. As part of the Exchange set up, a profile is installed on your phone that can enforce the password requirement. I'm sure your IT department knows about the requirement as they would have had to set it up. You should discuss it with them. If they refused to change the settings, you'll either have to live with the passcode lock or not get your work email on your phone.
    Best of luck.

  • TS3376 How can I turn off the passcode thing? I can barely see some of the print, by the way.

I cannot turn off the passcode feature on my iPad 2. I have done what they say, it says it's off, I got an email that says I am no longer protected, but the horrid passcode that comes constantly is still there.  Ready to throw it away, and was previously addicted.

Are you sure that it is still asking for a passcode and not for your SIM PIN which looks very similar?

  • Can I turn off required passcode in iOS 7.1.1

There does not seem to be an answer to this in the 7.1 manual and I have not found an answer on the web that was correct or reliable.
My simple question: Can the passcode that is used to secure first access to a device running 7.1.1 be disabled?
It appears to me that this can no longer be done. When I access General > Passcode on my iPad 3, once I enter the current passcode, there is an option to change the passcode and other passcode features BUT the "Turn Passcode Off" option is grey and not accessible. It seems that there might be some other feature I need to disable first before I can disable the passcode but I cannot find it.

    Hi Jstevenh,
How did you actually disable the passcode?

  • I can't turn off my passcode. My phone keeps freezing when I try to open my phone or turn the passcode off. What do I do?

When I go to open my phone normally my pass code screen pops up. It was working fine all day and then all of a sudden it started freezing. If I slide the bar across to open my phone it just freezes on that screen and I can't get into my phone. I had to shut my phone completely down to get in. I tried to turn my pass code off and I can't even get into that screen. So please help!

Try resetting by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

  • Can't turn off iPad passcode lock in iOS 7

I searched these forums looking for the answer to this question. Some said that there is an option called turn passcode off under general, passcode lock. I don't have that in my menu. I have two options, Autolock and passcode lock. I have set autolock to never. When I go to passcode lock, and turn it off it simply asks for a new pass code. There is no option anywhere to turn it off. Is this no longer possible?

You should go into settings, general,, passcode lock. Enter your current passcode then you'll see the option to turn it off.

  • I have tried to enter my passcode but I cannot remember it!  Can I turn off my passcode for good?-

I would really like it if I did not have to worry about the passcoda again!

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Restoring the iPod, even from a back that was made with the screen-lock passcode resent, does not restore the screen-lock passcode.

  • 3.1 now can't turn off passcode

Before updating, I had the passcode set for 1 hour (I knew I needed some protection in case the phone was lost/stolen but I didn't want to unlock the phone all day long). Since the update, my options for passcode time is limited to 5 minutes and less. And, there appears no way to turn off the passcode!!
Even the genius bar couldn't help me with this today. Can you guys??

If you use an Exchange account, those restrictions may be imposed by the Exchange Administrator. You should check with him or her.

  • I can't turn off picture frame by using the settings passcode...the button won't turn it off.

I can't turn off picture frame on the lock screen.  The button accessed through settings won't let me turn it off.  How do I do this?  Thanks.

You can only turn off Picture Frame if you have a passcode lock set on the iPad - if you don't have a passcode lock then the on/off slider is protected

  • How can i turn off passcode when the option is greyed out

how can i turn off passcode in iPhone 4S when the option is greyed out?

You can't. Do you have an Exchange account on the phone? If so, the ability to disable the passcode can be restricted by a profile installed when setting up the Exchange account.

  • HT4113 Can not turn off passcode lock

I can not turn off passcode lock. I see it and it is grayed out. I can change the password, etc. but I can not turn it off  I plugged the phone into a friends computer a few days ago to charge it. Does that have something to do with it?

There is an exchange account on the device and the Admins of that account require a passcode lock on the device.

  • I noticed that touch id can be bypassed by swiping and entering passcode.  Is there any way to turn off the passcode, so the phone can ONLY be unlocked using your fingerprint?

I noticed that touch id can be bypassed by swiping the screen and entering your passcode.  Is there any way to turn off the passcode, so the phone can ONLY be unlocked via fingerprint?  I liked the idea of having the extra security of a fingerprint sensor, but not if the phone can still be unlocked using only the passcode.  Then, what's the point of touch id?  Am I missing something here?

What happens if the touch ID sensor gets broken?  It is a backup method to get in to your device.
Consider editing your lock screen passcode, changing it from a simple 4 digit code, to a longer more complex password.

  • Can we turn off passcode?

Can we turn off the necessity to enter the passcode every time?

Of course you can, if you don't mind everybody else who picks up your iPad being able to get into your iPad, read your email and texts, access your accounts, look at your private data and photos, and everything else stored on your device.
