I can't turn off "share crash data with app developers"

I enabled this feature accidentally during the onboarding process for my new Macbook Pro, and now I can't turn it off as the button is greyed out.

The feature is located in in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy.

Any suggestions for how to do this?

cezinho,
Click on "Send diagnostics & usage data to Apple."
That will enable you to change "Share crash data with app developers."

    Hello prlipton,
If you want to stop sending reports to Apple and developers when apps crash, then go to System Preferences, click on Security & Privacy and click on Privacy. You will then see on the left side of the window an section for Diagnostics & Usage with the option to turn off sending crash data to app developers. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Can we turn off calls, text, & data but not wifi?

Yes, you can turn off cellular data. You will not be able to use Visual Voicemail or get MMS messages, however.

  • Can I turn off grouping by date in Finder and also 'Arrange by' and 'Sort by' in ascending and descending order?

I am trying to arrange my photostream saved search (which doesn't update automatically after I did the search for the first time which is very annoying) but finder won't let me arrange in ascending order of date (i.e.: oldest to newest). Is there a way I can do this or will my folder arrangements always be the one way without the option to change it to the opposite arrangement (same for alphabetical). Also, Finder automatically arranges my photos into groups of dates (e.g.: 'previous 30 days', 'September'). Is there any way I can turn this off?
Also if anyone can fix this stupid photostream issue for me that would be great!
    thanks very much

Even in list view, the photos are grouped by previous seven days, previous 30 days, October, and so on.. there is no option i see that will let me change to order by date modified without these groupings or to just turn these groupings off altogether
but thank you for your reply

  • Can't turn off WiFi Power Management with iwconfig

I had an issue with my WiFi connection dropping occasionally, and I found that my situation was the same as described in this part of the Wicd wiki article: <https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … connecting>, so I used iwconfig to turn power management off, like it said. But, the disconnecting issue is still there. I think power management is still on, because of this:
    [<...>]$ cat "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:02:00.0/net/wlan0/power/control"

    on
Yet, iwconfig still shows that power management is off:
    [<...>]$ iwconfig wlan0

  • HT203521 In iOS8 I can't turn off shared iCloud calendar alerts. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and am constantly getting their alarms for upcoming appointments. Settings- Notifications- Calendar- Shared Calendar Changes turns off changes only.

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8.  I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts.  There seems no way to turn this off.  I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment.  There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8.  Any ideas?

Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars.  Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months.  So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6.

  • Can I turn off cellular data but still text?

I just got billed for a $113 phone bill, all because of data. I don't travel, so it isn't roaming. Can I turn off cellular data but still text? I have free texting (plan) so I want to be able to text without wifi, but whenever I go onto games or anything without wifi, it says "turn on cellular data" or something similar, with two options (Okay, and Settings) I tap okay and exit the game, but it still charges me and it turns cellular on for the game. I don't want to continue getting charged for cellular games and such, but I still want texting. Is there anyway to get that?

Next time click Settings. Clicking OK is telling the message that you want to "turn on Cellular Data".
And again, did you look in Settings>Cellular under the "Use Cellular Data" section to see if your games show up in that list?

  • Global Escapade phone - can I turn off data?

I am traveling to Europe. I called Verizon Global Services and they sent me this global flip-phone called the Escapade as a loaner.
Fine with me, but one question. Can I turn off the data feature? It's going to cost loads of money (something like $20 per MB!) if I use data services.
It seems if I hit the top button in the D-pad, it launched some sort of Web browser. This is not good -- it seems like it's sending data merely at the touch of a button. And it's really easy to accidentally hit that button.
I don't need this or watnt this. Seems like a sneaky way for Verizon to make a quick buck off of me.
Is there a way to completely disable data capability on the Escapade? I know it can be done on my Droid.

Just put your phone in Airplane mode. This turns off all iPhone radios, but you can go back into settings & turn both WiFi & Bluetooth back on. Data roaming should be off by default: Settings>General>Network...

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Then restart your iPad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, then swipe the slider to power off.
Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Downgrading is not an option for an iOS device.

  • How can I turn off location tracking by Apple?

How can I turn off location tracking by Apple? Is is possible to roll the software back prior to Apple installing location tracking? I am very unhappy with this change by Apple. I know they probably included a reference to it in one of the user agreements, but this should have been clearly stated and offered a way to opt out. Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.

Yeah, I do see your point. I personally feel perfectly safe using my iPhone wherever I go however I would consider that my usage is a lot less than the average user. I've had the phone for a year and have only made a total of 5 hours worth of calls and have only taken it out of my city one or twice. So for me I don't see any privacy concerns.
From reading the privacy statement though it seems that Apple are adamant that the collection of the geographical data etc is 99% personal information free. They use the term "non-personal information" and for that 1% where someone's personal information does somehow become mingled with their geographical location/movements etc Apple state that this information would be handled as though it was your credit card details or your social security number etc until such time as it's no longer combined.
"If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined."
But, I do agree with the fact that Apple really should have made us more aware of this. Instead we have found out through scientists and their research... that, coupled with the fact that no other smartphone collects this information hasn't helped either.
I will continue to use my iPhone as normal though... I am personally confident in Apple's commitment to privacy. I know not all share this view and that's fine. We all have our own perceptions of the implications of technology...
To answer your question about rolling back your software though that can be done. Might be a bit of a headache though and I'm not the best person to help with that. I'm sure there's some good information here though. Good luck!
