I can't turn on advanced features in 10.0.1?

I click on preferences, but advanced features do not show up in the latest version 10.0.1. I'm trying to create a cut away and need the advanced features to do so. Does anyone know what to do?

Sure. It's easy.
Drag the clip you want to cut away to into you project but drop above your existing time line not into the timeline like you used to. It will become a "connected clip".
With the cutaway clip still highlighted in yellow click the Adjust button at the top right of the iMovie window and choose the oerlay tool on the far left. Now choose Cutaway from the drop down menu.

With the position of the power button on the Retina MacBooks, any mistake turns off the screen in the middle of a presentation or any activity using a projector or big screen — a huge waste of time to wake up the display, enter password, have the projector sync back, watch audience disconnecting from what was being discussed, etc.
This is very annoying, and seems to add to the increasing collection of options Apple decided to make by itself instead of allowing the user to choose.
Come on Apple guys, I'm using my Mac because I want options and lots of preferences to tweak to my needs.
If I needed the lobotomized version I'd be using my iPad!
Any way (official or hack) to change this button back to its proper funcionality?

How can I turn off background features in Premiere Elements 8?

There are two features that run in the background while you're working in Premiere Elements 8 which, while useful, can interfere with your other work. So, if you find your computer running sluggishly, you may want to try disabling them.
Background Rendering renders all non-DV footage or footage to which effects or transitions have been applied on your timeline automatically. (Clips which appear on the timeline with a red line above them need to be rendered in order to show at full quality.) To turn off this feature, go to Edit/Preferences and uncheck the Background Rendering option.
To manually render your video, press Enter. The red lines above your clips will turn green when rendering is complete.
The Organizer also runs a background feature called the Auto Analyzer. To disable it, go to the Organizer's Edit/Preferences and select the Auto Analyzer page. Uncheck this option.
Note that the Auto Analyzer creates Smart Tags, which are necessary in order for the program to Auto Enhance your clips. If you turn off the Auto Analyzer, then, you will also disable the Auto Enhance feature.
Finally, as an added tweak, go to Premiere Elements' Edit/Preferences and set Timeline Scrolling to Page Scroll. The default setting (Smooth Scrolling) continually moves the timeline as your video plays, wasting unnecessary resources.

With this version of Firefox, it automatically loads the 'next' page. When I'm reading blogs, when I click to go back, it automatically loads the first page of the blog as the 'next' page I want to go to. However, it will load this page OVER the page I am on, so that I cannot see it. With some blogs, it is so extreme, I cannot use Firefox on them at all. NB510: Automatic wake-up after lift display: can not turn off this feature

With the "Hardware Setup" program I set the _automatic switch on_ my notebook NB 510 _after lift the display_. Unfortunately, I _can not disable_ this feature.
I have tried in the "Control Panel - Power" to disable this function, I tried to disable this function by hardware setup, but to no avail.
When I check "disable the automatic inclusion" and reboot my notebook, but nothing has changed.
Also I reinstalled windows, I took out at 8:00 the battery from the motherboard, cut off the power to the notebook and remove the main battery, unfortunately, nothing did not help.
This function is inconvenient for me, because when the laptop in my backpack, it sometimes turns on itrself and the battery is very low.
How do I disable the automatic inclusion?...

This isnt a case for notebooks. Removing the CMOS battery in desktop PC has reset the BIOS but this does not work for notebook.
So if you are not able to change these settings in BIOS, I guess there is something wrong with the BIOS.
Usually you should be able to save the BIOS changes before you would exit the BIOS.
I see you are using Win 7 and Win 8.
As far as I know Win 8 isnt supported on this notebook model and possible some features would not work properly.

Can I turn of pinch feature in Safari 6?

Hi Everyone. First post here. Just upgraded to Mountain Lion two days ago and overall I really like most of it. I print web pages to PDFs for work many times a day, and some of the sites the pages come from differ in size. Many of the pages I pring to PDF are only one page, but some are slightly into a second page. In older versions of Safari, I could pinch two fingers together to adjust the page so the second pages fit onto one page of a PDF, but now pinching two fingers together displays all open tabs. Is there any way to turn that off? I would imagine that I can probably adjust some print settings and come up with the same solution, but the pinch to resize feature was just so easy for me.

I have found that you can adjust the scale in the print options screen before you click to save as a PDF. It works, but not as user-friendly for me as the pinch feature. Although it helps for now, I'd still like to know if pinch to tabs can be disabled. Thanks!

Go to any website that has a link to a story. When I move the cursor over the link to the story a second version (read) also pops up. Why would somebody need to read the link twice in the exact same spot and why does it read over the original link I am trying to read?

The editing feature is annoying because when I read pdfs, I select randomly with mouse on the file, which creates "editing behavior". What' s more annoying is it saves to the pdf file directly without asking me, which causes sync services like dropbox to sync the file, generating unnecessary traffic and disk usage. I never need to edit pdf files. Please give me an option to disable the feature permanently.

ok after another hour of playing around i might have half solved this...I turned match off via my account within the store which didn't seem to work properly, but then found another option to "turn off" via the store dropdown in the menu bar which does seem to have worked on my mac (but not yet on my iphone so still need to figure this out). Now I have turned it off on my mac it seems to offer me the option to buy it again - but as i've already paid for the year I don't know if there is the option to turn on again if I choose to later?

Can you turn off network feature

This might get moved, but I wasn't sure where this went.
I have a Tungsten E2. I have a baseball scoring software package that I use on it. Everytime I enter something, the Palm looks for a network service. Is there a way to turn off the networking feature? I have looked through the manual and didn't see anything.

The only "network" feature the E2 has is Bluetooth. But it sounds like the software itself is trying to initiate a connection, as if it is trying to connect with somewhere to download data...has it always done this? Maybe there is an option or preference in the software which will turn this function off?
Oh, yeah...I'm moving this to the Software board.

Firefox is remembering logins and passwords even when I've set the options to clear them when I exit. I access confidential sites and do not like this. How can I turn off this feature?

I want all passwords, browsing history, everything to clear when I shut down. Currently, it maintains my logins for certain sites. Due the confidentiality of my work, I do not want this to happen. I went to options and set it to clear upon closing, but that is not working.

If you mean websites remembering you by saving cookies via session restore then you can try this.
You can set the pref browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS, default in Firefox 3 versions) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Can't turn shuffle off

I recently downloaded iTunes 8. For some reason I can't turn the shuffle feature off. I select Controls, Shuffle, Turn Shuffle Off and nothing happens. It stays selected. How do I turn this off?
BTW, iTunes 8 is NOT an improvement over vs. 7. 7 was much better. I don't know why companies like this have to goof around with things that already work and change them just for the purpose of making them different.

iTunes was updated to work with the new generation of iPods that came out a few months ago. If you don't have one of those, there is no need on your part and no insistence on Apple's part that you update the software.

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.
