I can't turn on Genius

Every time I try to turn on Genius it asks me to create an Apple ID, even if I'm already logged on with my Apple ID.

Ok, I just found out a solution.  It's working so far.  If anyone is having the same problem, here's the solution.
1.  Go to the iTunes store.
2.  Under "QUICK LINKS" click "Account" and sign in.
3.  Find "Recommendations & Ping Posting" and click "Manage"
4.  Click "Turn on Genius"
Hope it works.  It's definitely let me get farther than I've gotten before.

  • How can I turn off genius in iTunes 10.5.3 (3)

How can I turn off Genius in iTunes 10.5.3  under Lion 10.7.3 (other than disconnecting from the internet). It is no longer an option in the Store menu and although I can hide that playlist on the left through parental controls, the atom symbol is still present in the lower right of the window available to generate a list from a selected song. Thank you.

I have the option to turn it off. What version of iTunes are you using? I have the latest iTunes. Have you tried signing out of the store?

  • I can't turn off Genius!

I just can't turn off Genius.  I have signed out of the store, I do not use Match so it is not turned on.  Turn Off Genius is grayed out.

If the phone does not show up in the device list in iTunes on your computer, you can't back it up anymore.
If your phone is set to back up to iCloud, at least your contact info and photos should have been backed up, if you selected those items to be included in the backup.
Did you try to connect in recovery mode?

    Can't turn on genius (Hangs)?

I have this issue too.  When I attempt to activate genius in iTunes, it first asks for my Apple ID, which I enter and then click on the 'continue' button at the bottom right, but then I get a 'red' error message in the upper left of the form saying, "You must complete the entire form." But there are no other fields in form in which to enter additional info.  So, I can't proceed to activate Genius on my iPhone. Yuk. My iTunes is on a Windows 8 desktop.

  • How can i turn the genius on in itunes

even if i select the correct email as apple id , a message saying please complete form appears...
really wierd...it should be simple after i select turn on genius but it just does not work...uff...
i'd like playlist to be created automatically and really need a way for genius to work...
    pls pls help me!!!

Figured this out. I had to change my Nano to manually manage music and then when you plug in your nano and after it is mounted go to the music tab and select synch music. The GENIUS lists will appear in the playlists options and you can check which lists you want to be snyched from your laptop/desktop.
To me this is just apple not being clear about the difference between letting iTunes "FILL" your device with your music vs actually creating a Genius list on your laptop/desktop and then moving that playlist over to your NANO.
So in essence you can let itunes fill the device and then play things on random for batch of your most often to listened music or you can actually manually select to synch certain genius lists as "PLAYLISTS"
    Hope this makes sense.

  • I can't turn on Genius in iTunes 11.0.1

I had Genius working in my iTunes Library with no problems.   I turned it off, thinking it would free up "other" space on my iPad.
    It didn't.
When I try to turn Genius on again in my iTunes Library, it asks for my Apple ID - which is already showing.   I click "turn on Genius" and keep getting back the window that says "You must complete the entire form".   Well, the only thing to complete is my Apple ID, which I've done.   Nothing else to complete.
So now it won't turn on Genius for me.
    Any ideas?

I am having the same problem that the person who started the thread is having. iTunes 11 is horribly broken on many levels. I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 10 until they figure out what they are doing. @Barrie Newcombe - I'm sure many people run the software without this particular problem. I don't think Apple would release software that never worked for anybody. Those of us who are experiencing the problem are looking for information regarding the problem we are experiencing.

  • Can't Turn On Genius Sidebar

I recently got a new computer and itunes works and all except for the genius sidebar. Whenever I try to turn it on and log in I've been getting "Request Temporarily Unavailable, Please Try Again Later" However I keep getting this same message everytime I have tried to log in for the past 3 weeks.
    Any ideas?

"Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. Please try again later." I've been getting this message yesterday and today. I'm on iTunes 10 on a new iMac.
    Genius is broken!

  • Can I turn off Genius & On-The-Go on iPod

There are 2 items in my iPod 5G Music Playlists that I would like to get rid of:
    1 Genius
    2. On-The-Go
I have my iPod set to sync only selected playtlists and the 2 mentioned above are not even in my iTunes playlist. I am sure that these are 2 ROM coded items in the iPod, but they make the menus longer and harder to find the real stuff.

Also "Reciently Added" playlist on iPod.
If I switch to manage music manually I can delete this playlist, but once I switch back to auto manage it re-adds this list.

  • Can I Turn Genius off on my iPod Touch?

Just a simple question - I'm not too fond of this Genius feature... I've got about 1,000 songs and most songs keep coming up when I press Genius in their respective audio realms, which is making me get sick of songs really fast. What I want to know is: can I turn off the genius feature on my iPod Touch? It's off on iTunes 8, but does anyone know how I can turn it off on my iPod Touch 2.1?

I was hoping to just rid the iPod of it, but if it won't go away, I won't use it (as I've stopped). I was just hoping to not have it on my iPod anymore. But many thanks for your help!

  • HT2978 I need to turn off genius for apps.  I do not have any apps stored as I just got my phone and I can't scroll down to access the acct info.

I just bought the Iphone 5.  I turned on Genius for apps and now can't get out of it.  I do not have any apps stored and I can not access the account info to disable it.  How can I access the account info or turn off Genius another way?

If you have an iPhone 3GS, you can upgrade it to the latest version of iOS, 6.0.1, so any app that doesn't require a newer model of iPhone (as some apps do) should run. See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
As long as your iPhone remains activated, upgrading iOS should not be a problem. You will need a valid SIM from the UK carrier, though having a contract with them or unlocking the iPhone will not be necessary as long as you just want to use the iPhone as an iPod touch.
    Regards.
