I can't turn on my iCloud backup on my iPhone 5. The selection switch is not working. My

I have 3 other devices on the same account and all backup fine. One of those is an iPond 5. A 4th device, iPhone 5, will not let me select the backup. Also, it no longer streams photos to my other devices when WiFi is present. It will do Air-drop fine, and connects to wifi fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Gail from Maine,
Thank you so much in your continued efforts to help me out. Much appreciated.
Here is what I see..
Can't select the backup =  I go to Settings>iCloud>Backup (shows off).  I select > Backup(off)> and see iCloud Backup grayed out (not selectable).
I have plenty of storage available: Settings>iCloud>Storage shows 195GB Available
When I select: Settings>iCloud>Storage>Manage Storage>  My iPhone does not show up under the backup list. I use this iPhone with iTunes (if that matters).
When I select: Settings>iCloud>Photos(On)> iCloud Photo Library (Beta) is selected on and shows "Uploading 1,131 items".  But does not start upload and the message always remains the same.  Tried shutting the Photo Library (Beta) on an off and no change. Also tried it after the reset and sow no difference.
On that same Settings>iCloud>Photos page there is a selection Upload to My Photo Stream.  Prior to installing iOS 8, pictures I took with my phone would automatically copy over to the photo stream on the other 3 devices on my account when in the presence of WiFi.  The other 3 still do it and are all running iOS 8.  This iPhone stopped doing it after the iOS 8 Update and installation of iCloud. It was working before on iOS 7.
The only different app that this iPhone has is a WirWatch, which is used to receive pushed e-mails from work onto my computer. This App was there when I was running iOS 7.  Don't know if it could be the reason. But none of the other devises have this feature.
Thanks,
Dan R.

  • How can I restore my latest iCloud backup from my iPhone 4 to my new iPhone 5?

How can I use the my latest iCloud backup from my iPhone 4 to update all my apps on my new iPhone 5?  I just registered it and it is a later version of the backup.  Can I reboot it now that I have a more current backup from my iPhone 4?

Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process.  If you have already set up your iPhone 5 you will have to erase it and go back through the setup again.  If you have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that you are restoring to you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below).  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • How do I delete photos and photo albums from my iPhone? The instructions given do not work. No "delete" symbol appears next to the album name, and no trash can icon appears below most of the pictures the computer just put on my new iPhone 4.

How do I delete photos and photo albums from my iPhone 4? The instructions given do not work. No "delete" symbol appears next to the album name when I press "Edit," and no trash can icon for me to click appears below most of the individual photos in the albums the computer just loaded on my new iPhone 4. When I synced the new phone the computer added these photo albums without permission from me. They are now taking up about 3 GB of memory on my phone. I would like very much to get rid of these photos from the phone. How do I do this?

To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.

My ipad mini will not power off, nor will it respond to any commands.  The ICloud Backup reminder (which I do not use and have not activated)is stuck on the screen and will not clear.

Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

The best way is to let the battery die. Or you can reset the phone settings which restarts everything.

I can't select icloud backup on my iphone 5, i've got 4.5 gig of available storage and this just started 2 weeks ago, I've tried deleting a couple of apps, signing out, rebooting, all to no avail.  The button stays grayed out and will not let me select.  Any ideas on how to solve this?

  • Updated Apple ID email and now can't find my older iCloud backups.

I recently changed my email address and now can't find my older iCloud backups. Surely they are still there, aren't they? Any ideas how to locate them? I am missing some important data I need to restore.

    Hi El Boz,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you simply changed the information or email address associated with your Apple ID (as opposed to creating an entirely new Apple ID), you may find the following article helpful:

  • HT5527 Rather than turning off my iCloud Backup

Rather than turning off my iCloud Backup, Documents in the Cloud, and iCloud Mail, if I go over my iCloud limit, Apple shouldn't allow apps to turn on backup by default.

True, but I have an extremely long list of apps that require me to go through one by one clicking "off", then Turn Off & Delete".
Also. From now on, I will need to check very carefully that I don't go over my iCloud backup limit, else I will suddenly be without email.
Rant on. As an ex-iTools, MobileMe user who has been patiently putting up with Apple's pretty woeful cloud experience year in year out, I feel the least they could do is to extend the 20GB free storage indefinitely. Rant off

I have forgot my Iphone passcode. Itunes will not let me restore it, i do not have icloude,or find my iphone, and the closest itunes store is 4 hours away how can i unlock, or reset my phone?

    Try this:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.
