I am trying to install the new version of iTunes. When I do, I get an error saying "A newer version of Quicktime is already installed. Cannot install Quicktime... blah blah blah."
Sounds simple right, I just uninstall said version and viola! It all works! Wrong.
I tried to UNinstall Quicktime and I got the EXACT same error. Uncool. Please help.

Go here and get the uninstaller : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Make sure iTunes isn't open and run it.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:

  • Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3...

My error message is: Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3 or higher. Please reinstall iTunes.
This all started when I was trying to upgrade. I have downloaded the new quicktime and when it came to the option of reparing or uninstalling, I chose repair.
I read through other problems, but didn't find this error message.
Can anyone please help me? In a way in which I don't lose my library?

Sorry. Um. Try to completely remove the Quicktime program from the Add/Remove directory via Control Panel. Reboot your computer. From the Apple website Save the Quicktime program to your Desktop (i.e., rather than "run from this location.") Install Quicktime by clicking on the Quicktime install program that should be present on your desktop. When it is done, reboot your computer.

I hope that that is the correct link.

  • Can't load either itunes or quicktime

I'm having a terrible problem that actually began with the previous iTunes upgrade. At that time, I couldn't upgrade to 7.3 because I kept getting the message that I had an older version of the Apple Software Upgrade program and had to uninstall it. I found that program, tried to delete it and then was told that the itunes.msi couldn't be found.
I went to the discussion forums here and eventually uninstalled both iTunes and QuickTime, hoping to reinstall both. I still can't install either; I keep getting the same error message I did before; and when I downloaded the Windows Cleanup Utility, hoping to clean out the old program that way, I now can't find that cleanup utility at all! So now I'm stuck with no iTunes, no QuickTime, and no way to download either! Help!

    Hi again,
I asked about this problem as Bluetosh but have been unable to log in so had to change my username to this one.
I solved the problem myself by going into the search engine and finding anything with the name Itunes or Quicktime and manually deleting them one at a time, took me an hour very boring but hey it worked.
I then downloaded Quicktime on its own and then Itunes, all working fine, but have lost all tunes and videos.
    Hope this helps someone,Regards Tony

  • Can't update/install itunes- 'not a valid win32 application' PLEASE HELP

    Hi Guys,
I'm having some serious problems with installing iTunes on my laptop. I have searched and searched the internet and can not find any solution to my problem. I am receiving the error "itunes is not a valid win32 application' after the program finishes downloading. Sometimes however it will just stop in the middle of the download. I use a SONY VAIO VGN-NW25GF which was only purchased last year. It uses windows 7. I had trouble downloading itunes to begin with though eventually it worked, however since the new 10.1 update has been available ive been attempting to update it almost every time i use itunes. Each and every time it fails and i've had enough as i need to update my iphone software. I’ve since uninstalled both itunes and quicktime hoping it will reinstall properly. But nothing, the same problem is occurring and now i have no itunes program!
I've tried all the solutions online about deleting browing history/temp folder and any itunessetup.exe/quicktimesetup.exe files and nothing works. I've also tried downloading using a different browser and still nothing. I’ve done a virus scan, disk cleanup and disk defragment and NOTHIGN is working. I'm starting to get quite frustrated as i need this program for my iphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks 

  • Massive problems installing itunes and quicktime

Hi, to anyone who can help me:
I cannot install iTunes or quicktime. Just bought a new ipod 30gb. v.excited. Downloaded itunes. gives me error messages when i try to install.
They read: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
    and
"The installation of Quicktime did not complete successfully. ITunes requires Quicktime."
I have tried using CCleaner to clean up my hard drive and uninstall both itunes and quicktime (old and dodgy new versions). I have tried using 7-zip to unpack the new downloaded files and install from the .msi and other .exe files.
I have tried installing the standalone Quicktime (which wont install properly) and then installing itunes (which won't install properly, coz quicktime is not installed properly)
I have tried rebooting my computer between these attempts
I have tried it with my virus-protection software off as one thread here suggested.
I am logged on as administrator for all these attempts and i'm at my wits end.
    I have tried everything!
please help me if you have suggestions.
    Thanks

They read: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
    interesting.
did you have an earlier version of itunes and/or quicktime installed on the PC? in particular, an itunes 6.0.x or lower version, and/or a QuickTime 7.1 or lower version?
(checking on this because i'm wondering if there's a DCOM permissions issue involved with the uninstall of your previous versions of itunes/quicktime.)

  • Can't re-install iTunes on Windows7 64bit PC.

Can't re-install iTunes on Windows7 64bit PC. Tried uninstalling Apple programs in correct order and starting again with new download but I can't install Apple App support which means iTunes won't work. May be something to do with microsoft visual c++ redistributable package x86 which I cannot repair.
    Help please!
    Thanks
    Mike

A hint from another thread suggests that temporarily disabling the Windows Firewall may help with the installation of the C++ Redistributable components.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

My room mate has Itunes on the desktop and we added my account there, but it brings up her name, but that doesn't matter to me. I just want to be able to use it on my laptop.

Ok. I guess no one can help with this.

  • Can not re-install itunes?

    I can not re-install itunes - windows 7 Error 126 keeps popping up...what do i do?

    Hello CFoisy4,
It sounds like you are unable to install iTunes due to this error message. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article that mentions this error message named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 126)”
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
