I can't uninstall itunes!!!!!!! (Windows XP)

When I try to uninstall itunes from the control panel I get an error mesage: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable....". I checked all around the internet & I was directed to Microsoft Fixit to help uninstall programs. So I download that, but get a new error message that says "Troubleshooting cannot continue because an error has occurred."  I asks if I want to download a utility to fix that - a file called Diag_mats_network_global.Diagcab.  But when I try to run it my computer says there is no program to open the file.  I have Windows service pack 3, WIndows installer version 4.5....HELP!!!!!  Microsoft support wants $99 to help figure out why their Fixit won't work.

I solved this myself. A friend recommended Revouninstaller.com. I downloaded it & it gave the option to find uninstall all the hidden files, too, so I didn't have to do it manually. Worked like a charm!

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from here (use one of the links under the thingy):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Can't uninstall itunes Windows 7

    Hi everyone,
I downloaded iTunes (11.0.3.42) the other day but it wouldn't open (specific error message: "iTunes was not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes).  I think what happened is that I inadvertently installed the 32-bit version of iTunes but I am running the 64-bit version of Windows 7.  After first trying to repair the installation (which didn't work), I next tried to uninstall iTunes so I could download the correct version. The uninstall hasn't worked - the specific error message I receive is the following:
    "Error getting file security: \\kermit\home$\eparsons\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\GetLastError: 50"
Can anyone help?  Thanks so much!

You should be able to uninstall iTunes by going into Control Panel on your computer, finding iTunes in the list of your installed programs, highlighting it, and clicking Uninstall at the top of that list.

The iTunes update site said nothing about uninstalling in a particular order. So I uninstalled the first component I came to in Control Panel which was "Apple Mobil Device Support". Now I can't uninstall iTunes. It tells me it is located in a network device which is not available to me, but it is on my "C" drive. How do I uninstall iTunes now? I can't install the new version till I get rid of the old. Help?

  • ITunes can't read my iPhone and now I can't uninstall iTunes. Help!

One day out of the blue I was unable to sync my iPhone 4S on iTunes. I then updated my iTunes to the latest version 11.0.1.
Error message then pops out when I opened iTunes "The software required for communitcating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repaire this for you?"
I selected "Yes" and another error message appeared "The software could not be repaired. Please reinstall iTunes if you wish to use these devices."
However, now I can't uninstall iTunes because after it uninstalls till the last 1 second, an error message kept appearing "Error getting file security: C:\Program Files\iTunes\ GetLastError:5"
I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit Operating system. And I've checked the file security for iTunes folder under Program Files and I'm the owner.
Attached below are the error messages I've been encountering. Can some kind soul advise me? Because now I can't update my songs in my iPhone and it's becoming obsolete if I can't do anything with it.
    Thank you!

  • Can't reinstall, can't uninstall (iTunes)

Clicking on the iTunes icon doesn't launch iTunes, Windows says it doesn't exist! (oddly enough, clicking on a song file does launch iTunes, so how can it "not exist"? Stupid Windows...)
So I tried reinstalling the latest version of iTunes (which I already have, but it "doesn't exist" >_> )
Windows can't reinstall it because it says it can't uninstall the old version.
Also, the "Add or Remove Programs" can't uninstall iTunes because it can't find some .msi file, which I have no idea what it's talking about.
Here are some screen shots to help.

With that one, let's try the following procedure.
First, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. If it goes, good. If it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to iTunes.
Next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. Use it to clear any existing iTunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC. (Launch Windows Installer CleanUp, find any iTunes and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.)

Next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of any leftover iTunes and QuickTime program files:

Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Can I uninstall iTunes and reinstall  as it is going to take 5 hours to update? Will I loose everything?

You can skip updating the iPad Software if you just want to sync it.
The Software Update itself should take no more than 20 minutes to install, so it sounds like your internet connection must be quite slow as iTunes must download the update before installing it.
