Can't uninstall Reader 9 after installing Reader X

Installed Reader X on my PC running Vista with Reader 9.4.x already on my system. I thought that the Reader X install would upgrade my Reader 9 install, but it didn't. I don't have a need for 9 any more, and want to remove it.
However, Reader 9 does not appear in the list of Programs in Control Panel > Programs and Features.
So how can I uninstall Reader 9?
I should also mention that I also have Photoshop CS4 installed on this machine. Is that why? Is Reader an integral part of Photoshop CS and cannot be uninstalled?

Please help! Can't uninstall Reader X

When I try to remove the program, I get a message that the Adobe program is open and it can't uninstall until the program is closed, but the program isn't open anyplace other than the add/remove function.

Is there any pdf open in any browser's?
Else, go to task manager, select the reader process and end it.

Can not Uninstall Reader 11.0.03 from WIN XP

Why can't my computer uninstall Reader? I am trying to uninstall because I can not open any PDF files. When I try to install fresh it just says it already exists. Error message does not allow system to even access Reader. Says There is an invalid Pack??? or something.

Ive got a version of Reader 8 on my computer as well as a version of Reader X. It won't let me uninstall reader 8 because it can no longer find the source files. Soloutions?

How can I uninstall reader 9.1.3?

I have installed reader 9.4, but 9.1.3 remains.
I tried to remove it, but cannot because the "patch package cannot be opened".
It is taking up 200 MB. How can I uninstall it?

The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility removed the old version of Adobe reader.

Can't uninstall reader 10

I downloaded the Reader X .exe file for use on in our small 10 person office. I installed it on my workstation forgetting that I had a full version of Adobe 9 on my system. Roughly at the same time, Autocad 2008 started mis-behaving and I wanted to uninstall Reader X. When I try to uninstall either through the windows 7 uninstaller or through the Reader 10 program itself, I get a prompt that says that Adobe Reader files are in use, close the program using the files. The "ignore" box is grayed out. I don't want to do use a system restore point due to some other system related changes I made subsequent to installing Reader 10. Ideas?

Thanks for the response. Sometimes asking a question on one of these forums is like hollering down a well hole. Turns out I could not uninstall in safe mode (have no idea why) but by logging on as Administrator I was able to uninstall 10 the "old-fashioned" way. Yes...it did break 9, but it re-enabled my AutoCAD 2008. So I am leaving things like they are for now.
I am an administrator on my own machine, so I have no clear understanding why I had to log in as Admin to uninstall Adobe Reader 10. I'm sure it's not an Adobe thing. BTW, other pdf programs have also affected AutoCAD 2008 on this Dell running W-7 32 bit. 2008 is not supported for W-7 and I think I now know why.

Can't uninstall reader 7/ install newer version

I tried to download and install Acrobat reader 9, but am told I can't because it cannot find the path to the older version. I tried to uninstall the reader 7 that i have and i cannot do that either.

Marty, IF YOU ARE USING "WINDOWS"
1. Open "Browser"
2. Type in WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY
3. When "results appear--look for "support,microsoft,com""DESCRIPTION OF WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY"-----Click
4. When page opens, scroll down to "Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Package Now" (You can read instructions or not)
5. When "File Download Security Warning" box appears--Click "RUN"
6. After download completes--Open "Programs" and look for "WINDOWS INSTALL CLEANUP"-----Click to Open
7. When "Box" opens--Look for "Adobe Reader" you have---CLICK (HIGHLIGHT)
CAUTION-CAUTION---DO NOT HIGHLIGHT ANY OTHER PROGRAM!!!!!
8. At bottom of "BOX"----CLICK--"REMOVE"
9. Go back to "CONTROL PANEL" "ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS" Your ADOBE READER should have been removed.
10. Download your ADOBE READER of choice.

Can't uninstall Reader X 10.1.2 or install/download patch package update 10.1.3

When i try to download the adobe reader 10.1.3 update patch recommended by Secunia PSI, windows installer appears and say's "This patch package cannot be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Widows Installer Package".

To install Reader 10.1.3. Here are the correct sequence, you need to follow
Acceptable: 10.0.0 > 10.1.3 (Q)

I have Acrobat X Standard and Reader 9.2 installed. Updates to and the Uninstall for Reader 9.2 are failing because of the Registry entry. What do I do?

I'm not sure what you mean by reset permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE Just that folder? And how do I reset?
I've gone into that folder, clicked permissions and I see 4 users; SYSTEM, me\Administrator, me\Users, and CREATOR OWNER. The sSYSTEM and me\Administrator both have Full Control. I changed me\Users to also have Full Control. The CREATOR OWNER has Special Permissions.
After the change above I tried to uninstall and still got the 1402 error.
I even unchecked Full Controls for the me\Administrator for the specif folder mention above. This removed the user from the User Name list. Then I added the me\Administrator user back and gave it Full Control. After this I tried to uninstall and still it did not work.
Also when I go to the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVer sion\Run I only see the user me\Administrator.

ITunes can't read my iPhone and now I can't uninstall iTunes. Help!

One day out of the blue I was unable to sync my iPhone 4S on iTunes. I then updated my iTunes to the latest version 11.0.1.
Error message then pops out when I opened iTunes "The software required for communitcating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repaire this for you?"
I selected "Yes" and another error message appeared "The software could not be repaired. Please reinstall iTunes if you wish to use these devices."
However, now I can't uninstall iTunes because after it uninstalls till the last 1 second, an error message kept appearing "Error getting file security: C:\Program Files\iTunes\ GetLastError:5"
I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit Operating system. And I've checked the file security for iTunes folder under Program Files and I'm the owner.

Can't install Reader XI. Reader X ran with no problems. why did I uninstall X?

I'm running Win 7 Pro 32 bit. Got Access Denied message when updating Reader from X to XI.
Checked Java Script allowed to run. I figured it must be a registry issue so uninstalled Reader X, Cleaned the registry, dowloaded Reader XI.
Installation failed with 'Access Denied' message.
I'm out of ideas, can anyone help?

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.
And if you do not know why you uninstalled Reader X, I doubt that anyone around here can help you to find out why.

I tried to open a file using reader 10. Now reader has taken over all my apps including explorer and live mail and nothing will open unless I uninstall reader. System is windows 7. How can I reverse this?

I was trying to open a file, the box came up saying that windows could not open the file and choose another program to open the file, I chose reader as it was the first option offered. Reader could not open the file either but when I closed the file I fount that nearly all the desktop icons had changed to reader icons and when I tried to open them a box comes up advising that reader cannot open that file. The only way that I can open my apps is to uninstall reader. When I uninstall reader the Icons return to normal. As soon as I re install reader all my icons change back to reader icons. How can I reverse this?
