I can't unmute my Notebook!

Having a mare.. There is no sound on my notebook. If I try and unmute (pressing the 'volume up' button), an the speaker icon comes up in grey with the 'no entry' symbol
HELP PLEASEEE!

Is your MacBook plugged into an external audio device?
If not, will most likely be a software issue. The quickest way to fix an software issue to copy a simple command into the Terminal and it will restart the "CoreAudio" portion of the operating system:
To launch Terminal:
> Click on the Finder icon on your Dock.
> Click on Applications on the Sidebar.
> Double click on the Utilities folder.
> Double click on the Terminal icon.
When Terminal launches, you will be presented with a white window.
You need to copy and paste this command:
sudo kill -9 `ps ax|grep 'coreaudio[a-z]' |awk '{print $1}'`
You will be prompted to enter your password (no characters will appear when you're typing, this is normal behavior). Press enter when you have entered your password, and if it's correct, it will execute the command.
Give the computer 30 seconds or so to restart the service (it won't look like it's doing anything, this is again normal). You'll know when it's complete if you can type into the Terminal again.
Safely exit Terminal by going to Terminal in the Menu and clicking Quit Terminal.
Then try unmutting your MacBook. If it works, awesome! If it doesn't, it might be a hardware or deeper software issue. You'll be best contacting Apple in that case. Contact Apple: Contact Us

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps

What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. Since installing OS X Mavericks v10.9.2 Update yesterday, I can't unmute sound output in my system preferences.

Go step by step and test.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers.
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

Can not unmute iPhone 6 after connection to car audio

I have a strange issue with iPhone 6, IOS 8.02. After the phone is disconnected from car audio it goes into mute by itself and I can not unmute it. The silent switch has no affect. The volume up button will unmute the phone but only while I am holding the button. The instance I let the volume up button go, the phone mutes itself again. The only way to get out of this is to power down and back up again.
Did anyone see anything like that and have any suggestions?

If you are having issues with unmuting your iPhone after having connected it to your car stereo, and have already tried restarting it with no resolution, I would suggest that you back up and restore the iPhone as a new device. See this article -

Its absolutely no problem using the notebook with AC/DC adapter only if no battery is inserted. :)
Battery is only necessary if your notebook isnt connected to mains.

Can't Unmute my Macbook Pro

I can know longer unmute my Macbook Pro. Looking at sound settings I see no output devices and the mute button is checked and shaded, not allowing me to uncheck the mute box. Is there a way to reset drivers?

Can you print in notebook view in MS Office Word 2004 (for mac)?

I'd like to use the notebook view in Word 2004 (Mac version) to take notes in class, and I would also like to print them in that view (notebook pages style). It doesn't do it automatically, I was hoping there was a way of having it print the notebook lines; and I can't seem to find any print options to do so.

Word 2008 offers the Notebook Layout view (We know this).
Notebook Layout View prints through Word's normal printing routines, which means that *it doesn't include such UI elements as notebook rings, rulers, and hole-punches.*
However, bullets, checkboxes, and note flags are considered in-document content so these do print.

Can I get the notebook replaced / screen replaced if i have a single dead pixel?

Hi,I have a 2 days old notebook, and there's a stuck pixel (red) on the display.It's an expensive notebook, costs more than a thousand dollars, and HP website tells me I cannot get it fixed or replaced if i have just a single bad pixel.I'm HATING my Envy for this. I'm typing this on my old notebook, the very sight of that ugly stuck pixel is getting me irritated. Sure you can ignore it, but once you know there's a problem, your eyes always tend to go to the problem place. Is there a way I can get it replaced or repaired under warranty? I went for the 3 years extended warranty option, and now found out a dead pixel is not covered. Sucks.
