I can't update apps after switching from my dad's Apple ID to mine.

After I switched my dads ID to mine when I go to update apps it requests his password. What do I do to. change it to mine?

Enter his password.
Or repurchase the apps with your AppleID.

Can not update apps after IOS8 update on iPhone 4s
I can no longer update apps on my iPhone 4s after the IOS 8 update. The IOS 8 update took a very long time to complete, maybe 12 hours, and afterwards, it worked but updating packages were very slow. Package updates have since been problematic and about 4 days ago, it stopped being able to update any packages. I click on them to update and they never make any progress. I have 2.8 Gbytes free and I keep deleting more and more packages, pictures, etc. It seems like, from the amount of stuff that I have deleted, I should have more than 2.8 Gbytes free.
Is anyone else having this kind of problem?

16GB iPhone4: Go to Settings, scroll down to iTunes & App Stores and touch. At the top of the next page it shows: Apple ID. Touch this. Select Sign Out. Your Apple ID will go away. Re-enter Apple ID and password. Try App Store again.
Other solutions were to go to Settings:General:Date&Time and turn off auto-update, then change date to next year. This didn't work for me, nor a lot of other users on the forums. It took reading a lot of threads to find the log-out, log-in solution. Even on the official Apple Website all I saw was: Make sure your connection is working, battery is charged, desktop is plugged in when you try to sync. OK I exaggerate, but with all the users posting this problem, you'd think they'd post their solutions when they work with a Tech Help call.

  • I can't update apps on iPhone because of an old Apple ID.

I have a new apple Id and no longer have access
to my old one and I can't update apps on my iPhone because
the old apple ID pops up. I've added the new ID to my
Phone settings but it keeps popping up when I'm in
    the apps store. Any ideas?

First, you are digging up a thread that has been dead for almost a year. So you have no idea what the context of the ASC was at that time and what folks were posting over and over here.
Secondly if you spend just a little time on the ASC you will quickly learn that folks make random Apple ID accounts all of the time.
As far as the exact situation which you mention, you can change the primary email account associated with an Apple ID, without changing the ID, which is why I have an @mac.com Apple ID that uses an @gmail.com email address. And it was for the very reason you mention, I got the @mac.com account (accounts which pre-date @me.com by a number of years) for a free trial, but didn't feel that I wanted to pay $100 a year to use it after the trial period ended, but I had used the account during the trial to acquire a lot of Apple content that I did not wish to loose.

  • I can't update apps, after updating to iOS 5

After updating to ios5, all updates of apps cannot continue, but I can download new apps from the AppStore

When i try to download new applications it works - my new apple id comes up and everything works fine.
i tried restoring my phone, changing my settings, etc.
When i try to update in itunes it gives me a notification along the lines of "cannot update do to not holding majority of ..."
    did you find a solution?
    Very Frustrated...

  • Can't get online after switching from a Dell

    Can anyone help me?
I just switched to a PowerBook G4 from using a Dell, and now I can't get online. I'm using a cable modem, but apparently my Apple won't recognize it. I talked to Apple tech support for over an hour, and they sent me to the Apple store who, of course, couldn't duplicate my problem. The guy at the store said this happens a lot when you switch from a Windows machine to a Mac because the modem "knows" which computer it should be trying to connect to. My Apple won't receive an IP address from the modem, and neither Apple nor my cable company can fix it. I've never used an Apple before and I'm getting really frustrated!
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    You're welcome.
Copied from the link I provided.
The Apple Hardware Test was originally distributed on a separate Apple Hardware Test CD. The latest Macs distribute the Apple Hardware Test on a special volume on the Software Restore and Install DVD. Each Apple Hardware Test is specific to the type and model of Mac with which it was distributed.
Since the Apple Hardware Test is included on the Software Restore and Install DVD that shipped with your Mac when purchased, Apple won't just send you another one.
Your employer needs to give you the OS X install package that shipped with this Mac when purchased to keep handy. Although there is an alternative, to run Disk First Aid repair on the hard drive to check for any hard drive directory problems requires booting the computer from the OS X install disc #1 that shipped with this Mac when purchased.
Check Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption for system troubleshooting procedures with instructions for running Disk First Aid repair on the hard drive.
This is also recommended before installing a major OS X update such as 10.4.6 or 10.4.7 which is expected to be released soon.
See Installing software updates for future reference.
Since you are new to Macs and OS X, check Maintaining Mac OS X for recommended maintenance for OS X which isn't much but also good info to know for future reference.

  • Can't Update Apps After Changing Email Address

Recently, I changed my Apple ID from my Yahoo! Email to MobileMe. Now every time I try to update my Apps in iTunes or the Mac App Store, I can't update the ones that I bought when I used my Yahoo! Email address. I can still download the updates if I sign in with my Yahoo! account, but that gets annoying.

To answer you Oh yes I waited.... in fact almost 3 hours and it should not take that long..... I actually ended up restoring it and starting all over again. Seemed to work! We will see....
    Thank you

  • Can't update apps after location replacing..

    Hello guys.
I've recently replaced my iTunes ID account location.
Since then, everytime iTunes tells me that there are new updates for my iPhone apps, iTunes refers me to a page that tells me that there are no updates (just after clicking "Check for updates" icon). My only option to update my iPhones apps is only in my iPhone.
    Any help?
    Thanks

  • Can't update Apps. Wants me to verify old Apple ID that no longer exists.

This is really annoying. . . I go to update my apps in my iPad & iPhone but when I go "Update All" it asks me to sign in with my old Apple ID (that email address no longer exists).  Even if I put in the old password associated with that old ID it tells me I need to verify that Apple ID and that an email has been sent to that old email address (that no longer exists!).  It's crazy as I have not used that address for years and two years ago I associated that old ID with my new email address, but I couldn't change my Apple ID to reflect my new email address so it just kept the old address but my receipts were being sent to the new email address. .. confusing, but it worked.  Now I have a @me.com address and an Apple ID that utilises my @me.com account, but even when I sign out of iTunes/App Store and sign back in with my new Apple ID, I cannot update apps. . . I can purchase news apps, but I can't update anything.
I'd really like some help here.  I have gone to the Apple ID webpage and tried to log in to the old address in order to delete it or whatever but when I do it says it is trying to verify that email address (which it can't as it no longer exists), so when I option to put in another email address for it to send the verification to (my @me.com account) it says "You cannot create an Apple ID using a MobileMe account. If this is your email address, it is also your Apple ID.". . . . . yes, I know that is my Apple ID. . . that;s the one I want to use.  If anyone can tell me how to get rid of the old Apple ID/email address I'd be very grateful.

I appreciate exactly where you're coming from.  I've been fighting a similar battle for some six months now and I've finally given up.  The problem is that, contrary to the semantics on the Apple ID management page, your up-to-date email address is not the primary address.  The ID name is the primary address and what's alleged to be primary is actually secondary.  I learned this the hard way when I was trying to fix an issue with a very old ID that did NOT have an email address as a name.  I changed to to reflect the (old) address and I made matters worse and I can't go back!
In my case, I have a whole slew of free apps on the old ID and maybe US$40 or US$50 worth of paid apps.  Little by little I'm deleting the free apps and obtaining them again with the current ID.  When I finish that, I'll probably bite the bullet and pay again for the other apps.

  • Can't update apps after name change.

I just recently changed my iTunes name. I made sure I logged in with it on my computer and did so with no problem. Now I also updated that info on my iPhone 4. I can buy apps with no problem whatsoever, however when I try to update my apps from the app store via iPhone, it keeps asking for the password to my old username and not my new one. Even of I did enter the password for it, it says that it is incorrect. How can I get my phone to recognize my new username for updates. Remember, there is no problem when buying the apps. It asks for the pass to the correct name.

You will have to call 1-800-MY-APPLE for a resolution. Apple will be able to consolidate the two accounts, but it can only be done over the phone. It's under the [FAQ|http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37] section for Apple ID's.

  • [SOLVED] Can't use themes after switching from KDE to Gnome

I've just switched my desktop environment from KDE to Gnome, and am unable to use GTK themes properly.
When I was using KDE, I had qtcurve-gtk2 with gtk-theme-switch2 installed, with QtCurve as the chosen GTK theme.  I have uninstalled both qtcurve-gtk2 and gtk-theme-switch2 when I made my switch to Gnome, but it seems my GTK themes are still controlled by the QtCurve engine, and I can't use GTK themes via Gnome's Appearance Preferences.

Thanks for the reply, but it's not the answer.  Gtk-chtheme changes the GTK theme that QtCurve uses.  The problem I have is that although I've removed QtCurve from my system (including configuration files using pacman's -Rn option, and the configuration file in my /~ directory), my Gnome system is still using QtCurve for themes, blocking other theme engines from running.  So I'm really looking for a way to get back the ability to use proper GTK/Gnome themes, not QtCurve.
    To clarify again:
    1. I used to have a KDE installation.  I used qtcurve-gtk2 for to theme my GTK apps to conform with KDE look and feel, with gtk-theme-switch2 to set the style for QtCurve.
    2. I removed KDE from my system, and in the process, I also removed (manually and using pacman -Rcn) qtcurve-gtk2 and gtk-theme-switch2.
    3. I installed Gnome, along with gtk-engine-murrine, murrine-theme-collection and gtk-rezlooks-engine.
    4. When I access the Appearance Preferences dialog, all my themes are previewed using KDE's Oxygen-style buttons.  I am only able to use/activate GTK control themes (ie. I cannot use Murrine, Rezlooks, or other non-GTK2 theming engines, even though they are installed).  Even more strangely, if I switch to a GTK control theme to something other than Clearlooks, the buttons change to the appropriate theme, but the scroll bars are stuck on the Clearlooks look-and-feel.  Metacity theming is fine.
I have reinstalled and re-removed qtcurve-gtk2 and gtk-theme-switch2.  I have completely removed Qt from my system.  I have also searched (using the find command) for any files of qtcurve, and removed every trace of it.  But the old QtCurve configuration is still preventing non-GTK2 themes from running, and causing rendering flaws for scrollbar controls.

  • I can't update apps after IOS change

Somebody out there has the same problem????? I can't download new apps

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode

Hi can't update apps or buy from iTunes . I was able to do all of this but can't now can anymore help me plz

    Hi..
Your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."
