I can't update apps on iPhone because of an old Apple ID.
I have a new apple Id and no longer have access
to my old one and I can't update apps on my iPhone because
the old apple ID pops up. I've added the new ID to my
Phone settings but it keeps popping up when I'm in
the apps store. Any ideas?
First, you are digging up a thread that has been dead for almost a year. So you have no idea what the context of the ASC was at that time and what folks were posting over and over here.
Secondly if you spend just a little time on the ASC you will quickly learn that folks make random Apple ID accounts all of the time.
As far as the exact situation which you mention, you can change the primary email account associated with an Apple ID, without changing the ID, which is why I have an @mac.com Apple ID that uses an @gmail.com email address. And it was for the very reason you mention, I got the @mac.com account (accounts which pre-date @me.com by a number of years) for a free trial, but didn't feel that I wanted to pay $100 a year to use it after the trial period ended, but I had used the account during the trial to acquire a lot of Apple content that I did not wish to loose.

This is really annoying. . . I go to update my apps in my iPad & iPhone but when I go "Update All" it asks me to sign in with my old Apple ID (that email address no longer exists). I appreciate exactly where you're coming from. I've been fighting a similar battle for some six months now and I've finally given up. The problem is that, contrary to the semantics on the Apple ID management page, your up-to-date email address is not the primary address. The ID name is the primary address and what's alleged to be primary is actually secondary. I learned this the hard way when I was trying to fix an issue with a very old ID that did NOT have an email address as a name. I changed to to reflect the (old) address and I made matters worse and I can't go back!
In my case, I have a whole slew of free apps on the old ID and maybe US$40 or US$50 worth of paid apps. Little by little I'm deleting the free apps and obtaining them again with the current ID. When I finish that, I'll probably bite the bullet and pay again for the other apps. -
when trying to sync my iPhone i get a message saying : iTunes can't sync apps to iPhone because the apps installed on the phone could not be determine. what is going on?
I received the same error message after I had recently updated iTunes to 10.5.1 and I had wirelessly updated 13 apps. I had to go into iTunes and select Apps, on the bottom right it said I needed to update 13 apps. I updated the apps via iTunes and then synced again without an issue.

how can I sync my old Apple I.D. with new one?Only the Apple ID used to buy an app can update an app. Apple does not merge Apple IDs and Apple does not transfer content biught with one ID to another ID.

I am unable to update Apps on iphone and in itunes. Same pw. itunes says update not available for this apple id because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled. On my iphone I click on update it asks for pw then goes back to update

Can not update apps on iPhone or iTunes
I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.3.3 yesterday and I now can't update any apps via my phone or iTunes.
On my phone I get the error "Cannot connect to iTunes Store"
On iTunes I get "We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the iTunes Store at this time. Please try again later"
Any ideas on how I can fix it.......Many Thanks in advance for any helpWell I finally got the apps updated. How? I deleted them from the iPhone and then in iTunes the app became unchecked. I checked the app and then it was installed on the iPhone. The only problem was that any data associated with those apps was lost. With the games it was just the high scores, but with apps like Splash ID and Fuel Gauge it was all my passwords and a years worth of fuel fill-up data. I tried a restore of all that data using the backup, but what happened there was that when the iPhone restored the back-up it also restored the out dated app as well. Therefore the only thing I could do is re-enter al the data that was lost all over again. At least with Splash ID that was a sync with the desktop application. With Fuel Gauge it's a matter of going back and re-entering everything again. I hope this doesn't happen everytime I need to update a program.

Whet i press update button it asks for my password, then it shows message : *There is a billing problem with a previous purchase. Please update your payment method.* When i fill in all information and press Done it shows message :*your payment method was declined. Please enter another payment method* And thats about 100000 times, all information is right...i dont know what to to, cant update any apps

I have recently changed my e-mail address which was used as the ID for my updating the apps. on my itouch 4g.Now when I try to update the apps.the ID comes up as the old e-mail that I used in the past and that I cant change to the new e-mail that I would use as the ID now.Its grayed out and cant be moved.

When I press on the icon updates, on bottom right, my iPhone's screen turns white and no update is made. I can upload apps.

I've changed my Apple ID password and when I go to the Apple ID link the changes have been emailed and are all verified. However, when I try to do something with an App or iTunes etc on my iPhone 5 it still comes up with my old Apple ID and asks me for the password and I don't have the option to overtyped the Sppld ID section with the new email I've set. I can't update Apps or buy Apps because of this. Any ideas?
ThanksSign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.
