I can't update facebook or connect to itunes on my iphone 4s while on my home wifi

When I am at home (wifi) and I go into Facebook or try to update an app, it states "network error" or just won't update.

either do a reset - hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up or power cycle your router.

    Yes. You can download the updates to the apps in iTunes and then sync them to the iPad while the iPad is connected to your computer. I did that last night because I had so many large app updates to do - apps that were 250MB up to 650MB in size - and it just made more sense to me to do it that way.

    My Mac's iTunes also has been unable to deliver updates (OSX 10.6.4; iTunes 10.0.1); I can purchase and download iTunes music/videos just fine; but the check for app updates just spins for a bit and returns nothing.
    *But my iPad can see and download it's app updates just fine!*
    Any hints/suggestions? I've rebooted and logged in/out of my store account but that doesn't seem to fix it. Everything was working fine until this weekend....

    This is happening to me too, I'm in the UK - (are you in the US?), and when I try to update my apps via the 'app store' on my iPhone itself I get the message 'cannot connect to iTunes store', and when I go into (the latest version of) iTunes, and click 'check for updates' the blue/white striped bar goes across for about one second then just stops, without the message telling me that there are updates, or that there are no updates available.
    I really hope that Apple sorts this out soon, or at least acknowledges that there is a problem, when companies don't tell their customers what is really going on it causes all kinds of rumour and conjecture that could be worse than just telling it to us straight.

    That's usually a sign that your phone was hacked/jailbroken, and iTunes has detected such, errored out, preventing your phone from activating. Since Apple does not support hacking/jailbreaking, that's what happens, by design.
    We can't help you here, as Apple owns this forum. You'll have to go elsewhere.

    Use iTunes on any computer to restore your iPhone. Your data
    will be gone, but your iPhone will be functioning. You can restore
    when you get home.

    Changing devices is no reason to create a new Apple ID.
    All content purchased from iTunes is permanently linked to the Apple ID it was purchased with.
    To update apps purchased with the old ID, you MUST sign in with that Apple ID.

    Make sure you go into "Settings" on iphone and update things that need updated info, like icloud. Turn your iPhone off and on. Beyond that, good luck. I had to go into Apple store 40 mins away from me, they still didnt fix.

I was advised by AT&T back in January that it would be necessary to setup separate iTunes accts for the second and third iPhones in order to receive system updates. The problem would be how to keep all the apps, etc from being deleted off the second and third phones that were originally loaded from the one iTunes acct. Since this AT&T advice was prior to iCloud coming out, would iCloud be a better solution or at least part of the solution? I really don't yet understand how iCloud works.     Do you mind taking a screenshot and pasting it here? Go to the app store to the page of an application that looks messed up (install button not showing, no description, etc). Hit the lock and home buttons on your phone (the circle one and the one on top) at the same time, just click them down together once. Your screen should flash and you will have a picture of that screen in your photos. Can you post one here? If you need help posting a picture on these forums let me know and I will guide you through.

    Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on 25 June 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
    After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you are able to connect to the iTunes store on your iPad but not on your iPhone.
